They installed the panels incorrectly and it lead to some flooding in our attic. Our plumber showed what happened but they denied everything. Part of our contract calls for them to wash the panels at least once a year. They've never done it since installation.

My husband and I contracted with SunPower in February 2023 to have solar installed on our house, as of today, July 26, 2023 we are still waiting. The reason we chose to use SunPower was because we had them insgtall solar on our other house and they were exceptional and we didn't get any other quotes because ouf our history with SunPower, but this has been a fiasco for five (5) months. They will not call us to give us an update, I had to call their corporate headquarters to get the to reach out to me, and it weasn't until I called their headerquarters thay sent a design team out to create the install (in June 2023). When they submitted the design to us and we submitted it to our HOA, the front office would not submit it to the HOA committee because the design was full of errors. The inverters should be installed on the inside of the garage or behind and below the fence line and all conduits must be run through the attic and out of sight from the common area and the design SunPower submitted was just the opposite. SunPower should have known what the criteria is for our HOA, as we are not the first ones with SunPower to be installed, it appears to be away for them to further stall on the installation. There have been a change of ownership with Sunpower because they are the exact opposite of the company we dealt with before, had we know that their customer service was non existant, we would have chosen another company.

My system installed on June 6th 2023. And one panel stop working from June 21st. And the installer forgot to install CT devices to monitor the power consumption of my house, i only can see the solar production on the APP. I can’t see my home power consumption. And the layout of the panels are different from the contract and design from the permit. I email SunPower and called like 100 times, they just provided me a CASE#: 03391344 and each time telling me they have a team to monitor that issue and it’s been a month now, still no one contact me for that dead panel and installation of the CT. And they telling me maybe something is block the sunlight get to that one panel, i took pictures for them shows nothing blocked that one panel and at that time the production is still zero. My system shows from June 28 to July 22 the solar panels generated 1318.9 kwh but SCE only received 964 kwh. I need an explanation for that 360 kwh difference that not go into sce system. Because they didn’t install the CT when they installed the panels, I can’t even check my net meters on the app. I have to go to sce website to do the calculations by myself. I paid in cash full price, i should get the fully functioning system not the one with one broken panel and forgotten CT monitor device. Basically i lost a lot money for that 1 panel every month.

Stay AS FAR as you can from SunPower - I have had an absolutely disgusting experience with them. - The sales team would sell you the Solar concept beautifully but have NO KNOWLEDGE of how it works - whats WORSE is that they will make promises that the company will 100% FAIL to honor. They would commit to you that you will never have to pay more than $40 to your current electric supplier but you will be in for a shock - I have had to pay from $200 to $900 every month after the SunPower solar installation was done. - Initially the first excuse was the system needs sometime to settle in and after 2 months the results will follow - something that NEVER happened. - You would have to BEG to them after paying close to $50000 and all they would do is to BLAME YOU that you have used way too much - which is an IGNORANT LIE. - It took me more than 1 year - where I kept showing them all my past bills from EDISON which clearly proved that they were lying and were absolutely disinterested after selling the system to even care about what you pay EDISON - all they are concerned about is that they get their payments - BEWARE - SunPower has multiple sub-companies which may have been setup just to pay the BLAME GAME or save them for LEAGAL situations - They will use all kind of collection companies and threaten you withe dire consequences to PAY THEM NO MATTER WHAT - After 1 YEAR they accepted that their fault was their sales team was in a rush to lock the deal while their tech team did not do the necessary analysis of how many solar panel would actually be required - once again playing their BLAME GAME - the worse came later as they promised that if I was to buy more solar panels from them - and PAY THEM an ADDITIONAL 10-15 THOUSAND DOLLARS every thing would be fixed and I would never have to pay more than $40 - which was initially promised without due diligence from their TECH TEAM. - So now I have payed them close to $60,000 - and NOTHING has changed - It's nothing less than a NIGHTMARE !!! STAY AWAY from SunPower - these are the kinds of companies that cheat you and intimidate you from the overall solar concept

ground mount, (34) 360w SunPower solar panels, with Enphase micro-inverters as of today, 6/30/2023: 10 months since system started generating power (with issues)(Aug 2022), 3 micro-inverters have had repeated failures since initial startup with no on-site tech support until 10 months later (June 2023). 32 micro-inverter failures on these 3 inverters over 10 months documented by me during this time and frequently reported to SunPower. Note: I have an electrical background and a MS in Engineering. 8 months since Net Metering was initiated (Oct 2022) (verses Feb 2022 as promised) 21 months since contract was signed (Oct 2021), with a completion date of Jan 2022 in the contract. Ground mount platform installed in April 2022 and electricians completed their work late July 2022. ComEd did not authorize system use until Aug 2022 and Net Metering until late Oct 2022. I have yet to receive a set of red-line or as-left drawings (an accurate set). 17 months past contract completion date (with multiple issues still open), such as ground mount platform not installed per code (it took 10 months [June 28, 2023] for SunPower to confirm it wasn't installed per code by their sub-contractor) In spite of filing complaints with the BBB, Illinois Shines complaints, Illinois Attorney General, and IL State Senator, all of which have engaged SunPower beginning in 2022; SunPower has not finished the installation per contract nor supported their warranties. It took months for my attorney and I to get SunPower to pay their Arbitration Process fees in order to schedule a meeting with a judge/arbitrator as required by contract. Currently scheduled for July. Thus far: $8,000 in attorney fees; $2,000 in lost kWh generation due to late installation; arbitration process fees; and hundreds of hours of my personal time… however, still fighting the good fight.

Very poor service! DO NOT USE THEM! I regret going with this company! Installation process has been a nightmare. I’m coming up on a year and they can’t seem to get it together. The install team will do whatever they want just so your system passes inspection. Once it does EVERYONE forgets about you. Did they tell you that you will get a rebate or gift card? Yeah! Good luck getting it! It took me months to get it! Need to reach out to them? Good luck with that too! Your sales rep will sell you the unit and once you sign will drop you like a bad habit! Stay away and use a different company like SunRun!

I fully expect that this review will not be posted since this is a site paid for by the companies represented. This is about their lack of service and failure to respond to warranty issues. Our SunPower system failed in February 2023, I have been trying to work with them since March 14. They finally sent a tech team 6 weeks after the initial efforts to diagnose and repair our system. At that time, the technician confirmed that the junction box (and therefore our system) was "fried" and were lucky that the house did not catch fire. We have been "escalated" to “level 3” and assigned an “executive support person,” in April from whom I actually received 1 telephone call. Multiple telephone calls that are never returned, emails with lame excuses, promises to return calls by the end of the business day are just a few of the examples of ongoing efforts to get SunPower to stand by its warranty. And now, we've heard nothing from our support person for more than 3 weeks. We have been lied to, ghosted, given multiple case numbers and excuses as to why they can't come back and fix it any time soon...or maybe ever. The latest excuse is that they are "waiting for needed equipment" to repair our system. 4 months of trying to get them to fix their products and being treated so disrespectfully is unprofessional and ridiculous! The irony of course is that they have a major solar equipment facility about 30 miles from here. Evidently, junction boxes, wiring, fuses and maybe even an inverter are too scarce and exotic to even give us a date when we might get back on line. The "escalation specialist" job title should be retitled "obfuscation specialist" since SunPower seems to have no interest in providing customer service that results in actual service.

I cannot stress enough that the customer service by this company is the worst i have ever experienced. If you have a problem with your system (poor performance and two faulty inverters since we've had the system since installation) as I have had, good luck trying to get a solution. My first faulty inverter took close to 9 months to replace and and the second inverter is now closing in on 1 year. ONE YEAR!!! How could a repair take one year!!?? This is unbelievable! My case has been transferred internally form rep to rep with no solution to date. Even when everything was working properly, the system has under performed since installation to which they finally agreed to add 4 new additional panels to my home. This process has been ongoing for a little over a year now with still no installation date in sight. I regret leasing anything from this company and would never recommend this company to anyone. My neighbors have used other companies for their solar panels and have not experienced anything close to the miserable service this company offers.

Is there anyway I can rate them at minus 10. I have been suffering with problems since 2019 and I wish I can tell everyone looking to use Sunpower Solar company to run! They deceived me and now my house is almost condemned since the installation of the panels in 2017. May those guys who deceived me never experience peace in their lives if they are still alive! The peace that I have lacked since 2019 is enough to eat their own up. Many good reviews, but am one of the few unlucky ones. Currently my life is in danger as rain water is running down through electrical outlets on the ceiling and the company wants me to pay for the removal and reinstalling of 43 panels placed on a small house. I have raccoons raise their babies in my ceiling and anything else one can imagine of. I have tried all I can to appeal to sunpower in vain. A roof that I could hve repaired with 7k is now being evaluated for over 20k due to the extensive damages. If you are eyeing solar energy by SUNPOWER, just be careful!

When our panels were working everything was fine. However when our inverter went down in August 2022, it went down hill. We realized in Sept 2022 that the inverter was not working, they sent out a contractor to inspect the inverter and realized it was out. Initially they were going to replace the inverter but do to lack of supply they determined it would be easier to remove the inverter and replace the parts which they took in Nov 2022. It is now March 2023 and there is still no inverter on my house, the panels are just a decoration on my roof and my electricity bill is getting higher & higher. My true up will probably end up being 10k this year.

This was my second purchase of solar from SunPower. I have had my first system for12 years and am extremely pleased with its performance. The new system appears to be performing well. I am unable to monitor my systems' performances as the reporting tool no longer shows the separate systems and may be reporting the combined performance or the performance of just the new system. I received no response to my last inquiry. The best panels in the business, but customer service needs improvement.

I don't think I have the correct amount of panels to ensure I am not drawing energy from the utility company. I understand in the months with less sunlight the system cannot store as much power than in the summer months. However, the system should be able to store enough in the more sun months to cover me for the winter months. For 2023 my energy mix is 50% which is way lower than what I expected.

On contract over 6 months with SunPower for Solar & Battery installation since July 12, 2022. Elected to cancel purchase agreement January 25, 2023, due to non-performance. During purchasing process in July 2022, I was assured that panels would be available. The process began with Site Inspection (7/21/22) Design/Permitting (8/18/22), HOA (8/25/22) & NV Energy Incentive (11/17/22) approvals all being completed. Then on 11/9/22 was advised that panels would not be available until Q1 of 2023. Final straw (1/13/23) was when SunPower Ops Team said delivery to Las Vegas, NV was now unfirmed for any specific date. Have since selected a local Solar company with proven delivery performance in Southern Nevada. Be aware of false promises from SunPower sales managers.

Ronald B It has been almost 5 months since our panels were installed and we were told that we are going to get a check for a $1000.00 we are still waiting for the check. Our electric bill is still over $200 and we are paying the finance company over $150. Before the solar panels I was paying the electric company over $200. Right now I am paying almost $400 between ADT and the power company. I was told by the ADT solar Rep. that my electric bill would be about $50.

We had the system installed in August 2022. Had asked to see another installation in the area, they said they couldn't do that. Install was excellent. 14 panels and battery backup. After a couple of days we realized the battery system was extremely noisy, It is in our garage and makes it unpleasant to be in the garage working for more than 10 minutes. Complained to Sunpower, a month later they sent two techs to check it out. Yes, it is noisier than normal. Their only suggestion is to move the battery and inverter to the outside which would be near my neighbor's bedroom window. We cannot do that, have asked them to quiet the system down, or remove it. It is now November and are no longer responding to our e-mails.

This company is a total lie. Worst communication! Don’t believe this site’s rating. SunPower has good ratings because they don’t have anywhere for customers to leave ratings. They ignore you after install even if your system hasn’t been turned on. They do not reply to calls or complaints. I have filed now with Better business bureau and the solar commission. This company uses smoke and mirror to get your money but doesn’t do anything after that. STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAMMERS! I Have had our solar installed for two whole months and it’s not active. I have called 5-6 times and also filed complaints to the company-NADA. Be warned, they only want to suck you into a financial obligation and take your money. They don’t give a red cent about your system functioning!

The panel efficiency on paper is better than the other companies we received. That's where the pros end the rest of this review will be cons. they installed our system in February it did not start producing solar power till the last 3 days of March. It a function of inspections. On July 21 the system went down. SunPower did not notify us. According to them they should remotely monitor our system and let us know if anything is wrong, they didn't. We caught it in August when we received our electric bill and noticed the jump. We started contacting Sunpower It took them over a month to get back to us. At that time they notified us it would cost $300.00 to send a technician out. I was not happy this system hasn't even been installed for 6 month we spent over $25K and they want to charge me to check the system. I agreed to the fee and asked for the next available date. to my surprise they don't service the units they sell. they have a third party company that I now had to wait to call me to schedule my visit. I waited 4 days never got a phone call. I called sunpower back they gave me there service provider phone number and i had to call them myself. They scheduled me out for Oct 7th. To recap we called them in Aug 11th to inform them that the system wasn't working (they didn't catch that we did), and the service appointment is for Oct 7th(2 months later). Hopefully that day they fix it. If i could go back on this agreement and go with a different provider I will in a heart beat. SUNPOWER DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!!! they only care about the sale and payment.

I will give them a four-star review, based on our conversations so far. I have a tree that shades about 20% of my roof in the winter time, and they want me to cut down the tree prior to getting a quote. This seems a little silly to me. What if I cut the tree down and then don't like the quote?

The worst thing about sunpower is there long waits for service then never stocking any parts, having to wait for the parts then wait again to get their defective part replaced. I have had them for 5years and the system has only worked properly for less than 3months. It has taken over 3visits and almost 4years to get the monitoring system working. If something goes wrong with system they do not monitor and let customers know. They expect the customer to check weekly. Furthermore the lease is pretty bad at the end of 20years homeowner owns nothing. With other companies like Vivant at least after 20years the home owner owns the system free and clear. I did not start the lease I purchased a house with Sunpower 2years old.

I had the first meeting in May of 2021 with the sales agent and the contract was signed then. We are in Oct now and still no solar electricity yet. There is a lack of management, planning... no supervisor ever contacts and update you about what is next. I have to call and text or email "too many times" to have my project rolling. I am so nervous even after this project is done, how the customer service would be in case of repair or any technical issues. If I go back, I would not choose them and I do not recommend them to anyone. They also increased the cost of my project by 9k. Their excuse was the city decides to instal the panel in a different place. We all know most contractors the trick or first proposed price and the real pricing. They first offer a reasonable price but then later on they pretend that it is out of their hand. A professional company would sent a professional person to assess and evaluate, estimate the price by knowing the setting and where and how the box should be installed. Even as a doctor myself, I have learned now that the electrical box has to be located closest to the city electrical pole. How did they not know it before they gave me the price other than it was only a trick to signed me up as a customer. I do not recommend this company, and I am very nervous about the future of their customer service. The worst part is there is no one that you can talk to....

When it works we save $$$ unfortunately it doesn't seem to work when we need it the most during our Arizona summers... The first summer in AZ with it the inverter broke and of course we didn't know until a $600+ bill from aps came (on top of the $127 we pay Sunpower). It takes them days to send someone out to inspect the unit, then another few weeks to get the inverter, then to get someone out to replace the inverter... Let's just say we had 3-4 months of $600+ bills in 2020, which would be normal if we weren't paying for solar but we are. After multiple attempts to get them to make things right, they finally reimbursed us the monthly $127 during those months that we weren't using Sunpower due to the broken inverter. Once the inverter was replaced things seemed to be going amazingly. We were receiving the minimum $20 aps bill that we expected as well as paying our monthly $127 to Sunpower. Until July 2021 (AZ summers have been in the 100 degrees plus for 2 months now) suddenly our bill jumped to 500+ Customer service can be helpful but are limited to what they can do by their company, the company has no urgency on seeing what the problem is... it is up to you to try to understand yourself. Let's just say we don't know why our bill is so high and has been the past 3 months, but it's a waste of time to call and try to get answers. Bottom line if it works it's great, if it doesn't it's not likely you'll receive much assistance in finding out the reason. Side note, if an inverter breaks they cover the inverter cost as we leased it, but there is no compensation otherwise. We just have to be prepared for a $600 aps bill anytime.
