The Good

  • Certifications
  • 5-Step Process
  • No Third-Party Contractors

Certifications

Same Sun of Vermont has received several important certifications indicating that it is a capable and dedicated company. For example, NABCEP certification only goes to industry professionals who have a generous amount of experience with PV installation, design, O&M, system inspections, and more.

The company is also a Panasonic Solar Elite Installer. According to the Panasonic website, "This exclusive tier is only available to the highest-performing Panasonic residential solar installers who have established successful, longstanding partnerships between their businesses and Panasonic."

Panasonic is a leader and one of the most trusted brands in the solar industry. Consumers can feel confident working with Same Sun of Vermont, knowing that this company has proved its capability when installing these panels.

Same Sun of Vermont is also an Enphase Gold Installer. And similar to being a Panasonic Elite Installer, this certification means that the company has a long track record of installing Enphase products and received high ratings.

5-Step Process

Same Sun of Vermont is transparent about its solar process. The company breaks it down into five steps: Initial Contact, Solar Evaluation and Contracts, Permitting and Technical Design, Construction and Commissioning, and the final visit.

Same Sun of Vermont even gives a breakdown of what you can expect during each step, which helps set an expectation for consumers. If you are ever unsure of what will happen next, you can refer back to the website and review which step of the process you're on and what's next.

No Third-Party Contractors

Same Sun of Vermont doesn't outsource any of its work, and the company employs designers, project managers, roofers, electricians, and more.

Outsourcing is not inherently wrong, but it does require consumers to do a bit more leg work (keeping in touch with multiple contractors and scheduling). Because Same Sun of Vermont uses in-house employees, you don't have to worry about that. Plus, the company takes care of all permits and contracts.

The Bad

  • No Information on Warranties or Financing
  • Unclear Service Area

No Information on Warranties or Financing

Unfortunately, Same Sun of Vermont doesn't disclose any information upfront about its warranties or guarantees. We know that Panasonic solar panels come with a 25-year warranty that covers your systems performance, product, parts, and labor (terms and conditions apply), but that's not stated anywhere on the website — so unless you already knew that you'd be in the dark.

It would be nice if Same Sun of Vermont provided information on a workmanship warranty. This way, consumers know exactly what type of coverage they will get and for how long.

Additionally, there is no mention of financing anywhere on Same Sun of Vermont's website. It is unclear whether the company works with third-party banks to help consumers get a loan, lease, or PPA.

Unclear Service Area

Same Sun of Vermont offers its solar services to Vermont and New Hampshire residents.

Unfortunately, that's about as much detail you'll get from the company website, making it difficult to determine the company's exact service area. We would like to see Same Sun of Vermont provide more detail upfront (maybe include which cities or counties are included in the service area). To see if Same Sun of Vermont can install a system in your city, you'll have to contact the company by filling out the contact form or by calling the company and asking.

The Bottom Line

Same Sun of Vermont is a small solar company, but one that takes pride in its work. The company is certified with several big-name companies and has proven that its technicians know precisely what they are doing.

Same Sun of Vermont is also transparent about the entire solar process and works hard to keep its clients up-to-date with everything that's going on. We feel that the company could provide more information regarding its guarantees and warranties on the website and more information about financing. If you meet with the company for a consultation, we recommend asking about those two things.

Overall, we believe that consumers will have a positive experience working with Same Sun of Vermont.
