What does solar cost?

Solar cost varies on the needs of the customer. Every solar system is custom designed based on the owner’s electrical usage and available roof space. Robco has sold systems from $10,000 to $130,000. On average, solar will cost somewhere between $20,000 to $30,000 in Southern Nevada. The best way to know for sure is to have Robco provide you with a no-hassle quote.

How long does the project take?

A typical project can take between 8 to 12 weeks from start to completion of the project. Once you sign a contract, Robco will assist the homeowner with submitting and receiving HOA approval. While the company is waiting for the HOA approval, Robco Electric will complete the blueprints, pull a building permit, and submit the required interconnection paperwork with the electrical utility. After the company receives HOA approval, it will complete the solar installation. The solar installation itself typically takes 1 to 3 days to complete on a home in Southern Nevada. Robco has some of the highest installation standards in the industry, such as including pigeon guard, running conduit through the attic, and painting any exposed conduit to match the home’s exterior. Once the solar system is installed and inspected by the building department, it can take the utility up to 20 business days to come on site and install the new net meter. Once the new net meter is installed, the solar system can be turned on and you will start saving money instantly from your solar system.

Does Robco monitor systems?

Every system Robco installs comes with data monitoring so you can see how your solar system is operating. Enphase microinverter systems have a robust monitoring platform that allows the homeowner to monitor the system and receive alerts if there are any issues or concerns. Robco Electric does not actively monitor your system for you, but you can reach out to Robco for a second set of eyes if you see anything on your monitoring that does not make sense. Many string inverter systems also have monitoring available for homeowners.

Does Robco perform service on other installed systems?

Yes, Robco can service all types of solar systems. Robco is a top-rated solar installer, and the company has technicians who have experience with all types of solar systems. In some cases, parts of your system may still be under warranty, and Robco will follow up with the manufacturer to try to recover any available labor reimbursement funds to keep repair costs to a minimum.

How does the power company pay me for power?

The utility company will not pay you for power. It will credit your electric account for any power your solar system sends back to the utility grid. Depending on the utility, the credit will carry over each month until used. When you are using electricity when the solar system is not generating power (like at night), you will be using those credits you have previously accumulated. If your solar system is sized to match your historical consumption, then your utility credits should be nearly depleted at the end of each summer or early fall. If you move these utility credits are lost. When the new homeowner moves in, they will start from zero.

If I move, can I take my system with me?

Although it is possible to move your solar system to your new home, it is not the most cost effective or feasible option. Often, removing a system, transporting it to another location, then reinstalling will require nearly twice as much labor and risk damaging used equipment that may be difficult to replace. Often the better option is to simply leave the system where it was installed and get a new system with current technology on your new home. Home appraisers and realtors have become much more knowledgeable about the value a solar system can add to your home. In many cases, the extra valuation of your current home can help pay for solar on your new home.

What is the warranty?

LG modules (solar panels) carry a 25-year parts, labor, and performance warranty. Enphase micro inverters carry a 25-year parts warranty. Robco provides a workmanship warranty of 10 years, covering you against any labor costs and/or roof leaks caused by the solar system.

Will my utility bill be $0?

After going solar, you will still have a small fee to pay to the utility. With NV Energy, the basic service fee is between $12 to $15 plus taxes. If you have generated enough credits over the cooler months in the fall, winter, and spring, you should be able to get through the summer months without paying above and beyond this base amount.

Are microinverters reliable in the heat?

Yes! The idea that microinverters fail in high heat is an old myth the has been debunked repeatedly. Robco installed several thousands of microinverters in 2017, 2018, and 2019 — the three hottest years ever recorded in Las Vegas. In the last seven years,the company has installed over 50,000 microinverters. They are deployed all over Las Vegas, Henderson, Pahrump, and Mesquite. The older systems have been through multiple punishing summers. If these were going to fail in high heat, you would see that mentioned in reviews. It is not mentioned because they do not fail because of high heat. The internal operating temperature on Enphase microinverters is 185 degrees. Your roof does get hot, but it is not 185 degrees up there. Extreme heat poses no issues for microinverters.

Do I need to install batteries?

You do not need batteries. Batteries are not included with solar systems by default because they are still quite expensive when compared to what they offer. Most solar systems in Las Vegas and surrounding areas are connected to the power grid, or grid tied. The power company’s grid acts like a virtual battery “storing” excess power production as credits on your power bill because of net metering. Those credits then pay for the power you need at night. Unlike adding a physical battery which can cost anywhere from $13,000 to $50,000, you will not pay any additional cost for this “virtual battery.” You should understand that when the power goes out, a standard grid-tied solar system will shut off too. This is required by electrical code to assure the safety of electrical workers while they restore power. Unexpected power coming from your house would be a hazard for these workers if the grid is down. As soon as the grid is back on, the system will activate on its own and start making power again. Here in Las Vegas, we have a very stable power grid and rarely see outages of more than a few minutes. For these reasons, adding a battery does not make sense for most homeowners.

After two years of research, we chose Robco Electric for our residential solar. During those two years, I called back some of the "big names" in solar that had strong ratings and I can't tell you how many times they had either been acquired by another big name, the sales rep I was dealing with had moved on, or they didn't have offices in Las Vegas anymore and transferred me to someone in Chicago or LA. I knew then that I wanted a company who would answer the phone five years from now and be over to fix any problems within a day. That's the local company Robco guarantee that makes me comfortable with my investment. After working with them, I can't tell you how impressed I am with their service and professionalism. When the inspector came out to approve the system, they said, "Oh, Robco. Someone did their homework. Good choice." That pretty much summed it up.

After researching solar panels I contacted 3 companies for information and proposals. After a Zoom meeting with Steven A. with Robco I invited him into our home to repeat the meeting with my husband. He answered our questions with competence and we knew this was the company to go with. Steven followed through with everything, always responsive, communicated well and was patient. Robco handled all the paperwork for permits and HOA approvals. All I had to do was deliver the form to our HOA. The installation was on time, the crew led by Carlos were professional, considerate about safety, cleanliness and very polite. They also were knowledgeable and explained details. This process was less than 2 days. After the panels were installed and before they were running we had a heavy rain. In the morning we found water leaked from the attic, thinking it was a roof leak, I called Steven and he had 2 roofers out to our house within a couple hours. Tyson and his associate inspected everything in detail, took pictures and even made a 3rd trip into the attic with my husband. These 2 young men were professional, clean, polite and concerned. End result the water was an air conditioning issue, nothing to do with the solar installation. Robco has included a Wi-Fi app that monitors consumption, kWh produced and tracking each panel is in working order. We are looking forward to a reduced utility bill soon. The LG Panels include a 25 year warranty. Pigeon proofing is also included. I highly recommend if you are considering solar panels to use Robco. Give Steven A. a phone call.

I recently had solar panels installed at my home. It was overwhelming to start off and there are so many companies. I got a lot of quotes from pushy salesmen but Robco was so easy. They did everything over the phone and sent a full estimate with all the details. Rok was my salesperson and he was very easy to talk to. I decided to go with Robco because they are a local company and have been around for over 20 years. On the day of install the project foreman Ricardo A came and introduced himself and explained the estimated time and how the project would go. He was very transparent and friendly. The team would start at 730am which was early but this was December so they did not have much daylight time to work with. The whole thing took 3 days and I was super happy with the work. Once the net metering was confirmed, Rok came back to go over the app and collect the final payment. He was very accessible throughout the project and even after the whole thing was done. Robco was definitely the better value of the other companies I compared before the project. Price was not the cheapest but I feel very happy with the price I paid knowing that I got good quality from a local company. I would highly recommend checking out Robco if you are in the market for solar power.

I rated them 5 stars because we are always treated so well by them. Adam who comes to our house and listens to what we want and need is like a family friend. He's so warm and welcoming. And he always gets us exactly what we need. And the installers were friendly and on time. And the work is always neat and clean. I can't even tell they were there when they leave. And my solar panels work perfectly. Everything is so easy with this company. And there is never any sales pressure. They let me know what I would need To be 100% energy independent and then let me make the decision of how I want to proceed. I went with less panels than suggested Because we made the decision to leave our bill at $70-$100 a month and save money upfront. No one tried to pressure us in the more panels. They got us to where we wanted to be perfectly.

Robco is a local electrical contractor, which is a plus. My initial solar system (20 panels) was installed spring 2018; an additional 3 panels installed spring 2019. Addition was a decision to use referral money towards expansion. Solar customers need to understand that they are buying a solar manufacturer product line (in my case, LG panels and Enphase microinverter ecosystem). Robco is the certified installer. I considered a roofing-based contractor (there will be holes drilled in your roof), solar-centric contractor (roof solar products are basically plug and play), and others. In hindsight, my decision to focus on the electrical aspect was warranted. Anyone (incl me) can locate trusses and drill, screw, and seal (Most installers offer a 10 year roof warranty anyway). The tie in to the existing electrical is where the rubber meets the road. I've looked inside the boxes and been in the attic...all code. There was one solar panel that immediately had an issue that was resolved thru software within 24 hrs. I also had them relocate my three panel addition after install for cosmetic reasons; Robco's answer was "no problem" tho they had to upsize conductors and redo flashing and prior work. Just to make me happy.

Went through several companies and chose Robco because they were the most competitive. There were a couple of minor issues with the little interphase tracking thing but they were always right on it and got it fixed. They are responsive when you ask for something. I’ve never come across a problem that could not be resolved by customer service. The process was pretty straightforward. We planned it all out. We did have to go back and forth a dew times with the power company but that wasn’t Robco’s fault. We eventually got to an agreement that would allow twenty nine panels and then they showed up on the date that was planned and it is all working. I have recommended them to other people in the neighborhood and several of them have had positive experiences just like mine.

I had a small Pigeon problem after the wind blew a portion of the pigeon proofing sideways and they came out the same day I called and fixed it. I would highly recommend them.

Install was great. They not only gave us what was promised but they even improved the quality of the solar panels we originally contracted for. They upgraded them with no extra cost. It all went very quickly except for a little clicking on the roof when they were walking across, you would hardly know they were there. It was very professional. I have a large home so I have seventy three panels and my power bills went from five hundred dollars a month to seventeen dollars a month. It was the best thing I have done for my home. Robco was the only company that was fair and told me exactly how many panels I could put up and what I could add. Other companies just try to sell my something. I had eight come out and they were the most honest. The service is excellent. Ant time I need them they are here immediately.

The system has working flawlessly since it has been turned on. The installation up on the roof looks nice and neat. The process went very well. It was very close to being on time. Only the inspector showed up before the team got there and refused to wait to it took an extra few days to get the inspector back from the city but that was not their fault. The support is fantastic. Any time I have an issue, I just give them a call or a text and I get a reply back in a timely manner.

A lot of companies will not go in the attic and just drop it through the roof but they did and they cleaned it up well and match the paint to my house color. They were very polite and did an excellent job on the install. It took two days. They were fast and efficient. Everything is great.

They’ve been very helpful and professional. They are very open with communication as well. You can call or email or text, whatever works best for you. I felt like I was dealing with somebody who knew the technology they were installing. I feel a lot more confident in their knowledge than others.

I am assuming my solar panels are working well but I have not heard from them in a long time. They are small enough that they give goo customer service and are easy to work with. Everything was done quickly with the installation and they made sure it was working with the city. I think the solar panels are over priced.

There customer service is outstanding and the employees really care while they are working on your home. The employees are very friendly and courteous, knowledgeable about their work and they make sure they clean up when they are done. You don't see any leftover brackets, or bolts laying around

Most of the installation was coordinated by them. It was done over a few days, which makes it a pretty quick and easy process. I haven’t had any issues with it. It has been working good. One time I did have an issue and they were able to come and fix it quickly with no charges.

There was a problem with the ethernet or wifi connection on my end of the reporting phase and they came out and diagnosed the problem and moved the wall plug to solve the problem. I was happy with that. They have been helpful maintaining the system. It is good quality material.

Installing it went fairly quickly, it only took two or three days for the permit, that was the longest part. Once we got started, they finished pretty quickly. Based off the different quotes I got, this seems to be the best rated.

These guys are straight shooters. They’re not trying to bet around the bush. They deliver exactly what they want to give you for the best price. I did some research and asked for quotes and they seemed to be the best. They seemed very knowledgeable and responsive. There was one small hick up when it was installed on the engineering side so they had to come back and fix it but other than that everything went flawlessly. They were very good about getting it to us in a timely manner. Everything has been better than expected.

Very professional and easy to deal with. They showed right up and put everything were it should be. It is the best looking install in the neighborhood. You cannot see any of the wiring. The other ones look sloppy compared to the work they did. Great job.
