MOXIE is an EPC contractor, meaning we handle every aspect of going solar in-house. From site surveying to custom engineering and final electrical work ­— we do it all.

The first step is to set up a free consultation with one of our Expert Solar Consultants. This is where you’ll learn about all the money-saving incentives you’re eligible for and also get a custom solar quote. For your convenience, we offer the option of in-home appointments, phone consultations, or video consultations.

How much does a solar energy system from MOXIE cost?

There is no one-size-fits-all answer for this because the cost of your system will depend on many variables such as your location and incentives you're eligible for, your average electrical usage, your personal energy goals, solar product selection, and your utility company, etc.

How long does it take for MOXIE to install panels?

In the best-case scenario, a solar system can be installed and turned on in about 90 days. However, many variables are involved in getting your solar system installed and turned on. Delays in turning the system on may depend on the utility company, and some jurisdictions take longer than others.

What brands of solar equipment does MOXIE use?

MOXIE only installs tier-one, industry-leading panels, inverters, racking, battery storage, and solar products from the best in the industry that have been tested to perform and that have the best warranty as a backup.

While our purchasing department can get you great deals on just about any brand of solar equipment, we typically use solar panels brands such as Mission, Q-Cell, AXITEC, Panasonic, and LG. For inverters we primarily use SolarEdge, Enphase, and Solectria.

As far as solar battery storage, MOXIE is one of just a few in the nation to be a Certified Tesla Installer and we frequently install Tesla Powerwall for residential customers. When it comes to solar racking hardware, we prefer Snap N’ Rack railing due to its superior strength and functionality.

What happens if something breaks or goes wrong with my solar system?

MOXIE’s 5-Star Guarantee ensures you that we’re with you for the long run. We want everyone to realize and enjoy the many benefits of going solar and to do that, the system has to work and it has to last. We offer a 5-Year Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty on everything from craftsmanship to performance, and we also use hardware and panels with strong manufacturer’s warranties (25 years in most cases). In the unlikely event you experience a problem with your system, you can rest assured that MOXIE will be there to make it right.

How long will my system last?

When you choose a highly skilled solar company like MOXIE, there’s no reason your system shouldn’t last 30–40 years. Systems that were installed in the 1970s are still fully operational today. Most manufacturer warranties are for 25 years, but if properly installed, your system could very well last longer than that.

Does MOXIE offer solar monitoring?

Yes! In fact, MOXIE is the only solar company in the country that provides proactive system monitoring on a weekly basis. If our experts notice any abnormal decrease in energy production, or any other potential issues, we’ll let you know and be out there to fix it ASAP.

Do solar panels work when there is a power outage?

Unfortunately, grid-tied solar panels do not work if there is a power outage. They automatically shut down when the grid shuts down in order to protect the utility workers.

However, the solution for this is to install a backup battery, like the Tesla Powerwall we frequently install. If there is a power outage, stored solar energy is pulled from the battery, and you’re not left in the dark.

Installation and pre-installation went well. However, one of the panels has needed fixed/replaced since installation and I still do not have closure. I have been emailing off and on for months. I finally had a technician show up and check it out and told me that it was a bad panel and they would come back and replace. They still haven't been back. I have emailed and asked about it and been told they would check on it and still nothing.

They were rather new to my market when I bought from them. Their product is definitely high quality, but the growing pains showed in terms of customer service. They do everything out of their main office which takes away from part of the overall quality and didn’t do a great job equipping their salesman to be successful. The sales persons employed high pressure tactics and everything he promised turned out to be not true. Several times the local office threatened a 10% late fee while we waited for our local bank to process the loan. 1. When I first contracted with Moxie, I told them my loan was coming in ten days and wanted to wait to sign the contract until then. Blair said, “Let’s play a trust game. If you send me the check, we won’t cash it until the loan comes.” Well I sent the check and they immediately cashed it. Guess I lost that trust game. 2. They gave me an estimated time to installation of 6 weeks. It took them 8 months. So don’t expect them to get it installed anytime soon. Because of this delay, we had to wait another year for the Iowa tax credit. 3. Less than a month after installation, the inverter had to be replaced. 4. One of the fuses keeps blowing. Three times in three weeks. They don’t seem to have any solution other than to keep replacing the fuse. Which means the array is working like 1/2 the time. 5. I have had several people ask me this spring about my array and if I would recommend Moxie. I told them to look into other companies.

The large majority of the delay had to do with permitting with the utility company which, unfortunately, is out of our control. It's frustrating to us too and typically does not take as long as it did for you. Please continue to communicate with us about any issues you're having with fuses blowing or anything else. I know we've had electricians work on your system trying to get to the root cause. We are going to keep working until it's working for you 100% of the time!

The installation went pretty smoothly, but a high percentage of the optimizers failed immediately (or were faulty to start with), and we've had ongoing optimizer/inverter issues. Warranty service has been so slow at times it seems they forget we exist.

Their post install clean up was sub par and I still can't link my phone to the solar panel widget to see how well the panels are working

They look at your energy usage and build a system that fits. They don't look at overbuilding for your site. They have always been promote getting back to me when I have had questions. Their system has worked without any issues. The only thing that matters now is when the sun shines!!!
