The Good

  • Full-Service Solar Installer
  • Broad Service Area

Full-Service Solar Installer

Lifetime Solar is a full-service solar energy installer, meaning every step of the solar installation process is conducted in-house, and is not left to a third-party contractor:

  1. Site Evaluation — The Lifetime Solar team will conduct a thorough inspection and evaluation of the property, determine energy needs and potential energy output, and calculate the best financing options for the client.
  2. Solar PV System Design — Next, Lifetime Solar’s team of designers and engineers will prepare a custom solar panel system that will maximize energy bill savings as well as solar panel performance.
  3. System Construction — The company will then pull all the permits required to install a residential solar PV system. Once the permitting is complete, the Lifetime Solar team will install the solar energy system.
  4. Final Inspection — Following a final inspection from city officials, Lifetime Solar will work with the utility provider to connect the solar array to the utility grid.
  5. Maintenance — Lifetime Solar’s involvement doesn’t end once the solar system is installed and plugged in; the company will provide ongoing support and necessary maintenance, and set customers up with life monitoring accessible from any web-enabled device.

Broad Service Area

For a company that was only established in 2016, Lifetime Solar covers an impressively large region of the country, with offices in Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas, and solar installation services available in Illinois, the company is well on its way to building a broad customer base. Promoting verified Lifetime Solar reviews can help the company set itself apart from other solar installers operating in its market.

The Bad

  • No Lease or PPA Disclosure
  • Undisclosed Equipment Offering
  • No NABCEP Certification

No Lease or PPA Disclosure

Lifetime Solar advertises a zero-down, turnkey solar solution for residential solar customers, and will provide all available financing options following the initial site survey and evaluation; however, the company makes no explicit mention of solar leases or power purchase agreements (PPAs) as potential financing options. Both options are incredibly cost-effective, as they place the burden of ownership on the installing company in exchange for a low monthly rate.

Undisclosed Equipment Offering

Lifetime Solar also mentions offering top-of-the-line solar equipment with equipment warranties ranging from 12 to 25 years, but the company does not name specific solar panel or solar inverter manufacturers as partners in the solar installation process. While this omission does not in any way imply the company installs low-quality equipment, providing this information upfront can help customers make a more empowered decision as they compare different solar providers.

No NABCEP Certification

Lifetime Solar does not appear to hold an active certification from the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP). This organization provides rigorous certification exams designed to promote best practices and high standards in the solar industry. An NABCEP certification can indicate to customers that a solar installer has undergone advanced solar installation training.

The Bottom Line

For customers living in the Midwest and Texas, Lifetime Solar could be a solid choice. The company conducts every step of the solar installation process in-house, and provides ongoing support post-installation. After the initial survey, the company will disclose available financing options; however, this information, along with disclosure of which solar equipment the company uses, may serve customers better pre-consultation.

When the solar panels are not working properly the company is VERY SLOW to contact you back when you call. We have had these solar panels for three years now and this is the second time we have had problems with them. I am very sorry we had this company install the panels. I would recommend going to a BETTER company to get solar panels.

It took months for installation to start after contract signed. The credit union they use for financing charges too much interest. One of the solar units did not work. It took months to replace. And now the new unit is not working. They have had huge number of personnel change. Communication with company is very slow
