The Good

  • Customized Solar Energy Systems
  • Several Payment Options
  • Accessible Customer Support

Customized Solar Energy Systems

Icon Power understands that each family has its own unique routines and habits, which in turn affect energy needs. Because of this, Icon Power designs, builds, and installs customized solar energy systems that are tailored specifically to each home and family. In each of its systems, Icon Power uses high quality, durable solar panels manufactured by companies that have been in the industry for decades.

Several Payment Options

Icon Power offers homeowners a variety of financial options to go solar. The first option is a solar lease, which starts at $0 down and will result in a predictable, locked-in energy rate and a production guarantee. The second option is a solar loan, which starts at $0 down and allows homeowners to take advantage of the federal solar tax credit; solar ownership; monthly payments; a predictable, locked-in energy rate; and a performance guarantee. With a solar loan through Icon Power, 10-, 15-, and 20-year terms are available. The third option is an outright purchase with cash, which allows homeowners to own the system without having to make any monthly payments, as well as take advantage of the federal solar tax credit and a performance guarantee.

Accessible Customer Support

Icon Power provides a variety of ways for clients and potential customers to receive customer service and support. In addition to listing a contact phone number and email address on its website, the company also provides a form that allows customers to get in touch with a Project Manager, as well as a form to request support from Icon Power through text messages.

The Bad

  • Undisclosed Warranty Information

Undisclosed Warranty Information

While Icon Power does state on its website that the company offers a performance guarantee, no further details are provided about what exactly this guarantee covers. Additionally, it is unclear whether or not Icon Power provides its customers with any other type of solar warranty.

Currently, Icon Power’s service area is limited to select cities in Arizona and Nevada. Homeowners who live in the following cities have the ability to go solar with Icon Power:

  • Tempe, Arizona
  • Glendale, Arizona
  • Mesa, Arizona

The Bottom Line

While Icon Power is relatively new to the solar industry in comparison to some of the larger players, the company has scaled quickly and appears to offer a solid service for its customers, including customized solar energy systems, a variety of payment options, and several ways to receive help and support. However, if you live within the company’s somewhat limited service area and are considering working with Icon Power, we recommend asking a company representative for details about warranties before signing anything.

Binh Anh Vo Nguyen Tucson, AZ

We have been using this system for a year now. System does not save any money. When the REP came over did the calculation and quoted cost for the system is $18000.00 cash and $30,000.00 if payment and we would not pay the high electric bill. The REP stated if we go with the system we would have to pay about $20 to $35 a month and we did it and paid cash. So far in the last 12 months, we got 1 month credit $9.00 and one month credit $39.00 and the rest of the months we have to pay lots of money to Tucson Electric Power company. And this bill for this month we have to pay $177.00 just $20.00 lest than this month a year ago when we do not have the system. So we spent $18000.00 for nothing. It doesn’t save you any money. So if you want to go with solar system, I would suggest you think not twice but have to think deeply. Solar does not save you money.
