Full-Service Solar Installer

Flex Energy is considered a full-service solar installer, meaning the company provides direct support at every step of the solar installation process:

• Survey and consultation — Flex Energy's expert team will evaluate the home's candidacy for solar power, examine the condition of the room and audit the household's energy usage. An installer will then verify a detailed installation plan with the homeowner to ensure the system maximizes production.
• Proposal and analysis — Flex Energy will then creat a detailed proposal, including projected equipment ande labor costs, expected savings and output, and costs/benefits for system add ons, like solar battery energy storage.
• Permitting and documentation — The solar provider will then facilitate the proper paperwork and applications to keep the solar project up to code. This includes filing the necessary documents and liasing between the homeowner and the city.
• Installation — Once the permits are secured, the solar installation process typically takes less than a week.
• Inspection and interconnection — Once installation is complete, a city inspector will review the work to make sure it's up to code. If so, Flex Energy will facilitate communications between the homeowner and the utility provider to connect the system to the power grid.

Trusted Solar Monitoring Products

Flex Energy works with some of the top inverter and system monitoring providers in the industry: Enphase and SolarEdge. Both companies offer state-of-the-art solar products that convert solar power into usable electricity at a high efficiency rate, as well as provide real-time monitoring of system performance.

Missing Panel/Warranty Information

While Flex Energy's website mentions working with "many leading manufacturers" in the design and installation stages of the solar conversion process, it does not mention any of these solar partners by name. Providing a list of preferred manufacturing partners ahead of time can give customers an idea of the quality, price, and warranties that will accompany their solar panel system.

Additionally, Flex Energy makes no mention of its labor/workmanship warranty, which guarantees its system against installation errors up to a certain number of years.

Not NABCEP-Certified

Flex Energy does not appear to hold a certification with the North American Board of Certified Energy Pratitioners (NABCEP), an industry-recognized organization responsible for some of the most trusted energy consultant and solar technician programs in the country. 

The lack of certification does not mean customers will receive a sub-par build from Flex Energy; however, customers considering multiple providers might take their respective NABCEP status into account.

Customer Complaints

Although Flex Energy has received hundreds of positive reviews on Google, some negative Flex Energy reviews online exhibit trends that potential customers should be aware of. These reviews center on difficulty communicating with the company and significant delays in completing the installation or activating an installed system.

Again, these negative reviews are in the minority of all Flex Energy reviews; that said, given the similarity of the complaints, potential customers would do well not to ignore them.
