Buffalo Solar is a locally owned and operated solar installation company in Western New York. Husband and wife owners, Tyler and Alicia Uebelhoer, started the business out of their own home before growing it into a full-fledged operation with over 20 employees professionally trained and licensed.
Prior to starting Buffalo Solar, Tyler worked as a licensed electrician before becoming fascinated with clean energy use. He realized that he could provide a service and product western New Yorkers were in need of - solar energy.
To date, Buffalo Solar has installed hundreds of systems in Wyoming County New York and continues to provide quality customer service and professional install services to residential and commercial properties.
The initial costs of installing a solar system are steep. Most people do not have the thousands and thousands of dollars needed to dish out for the upfront charge. Buffalo Solar also recognizes that there are people who would like to take advantage of clean energy and its accompanying savings but do not have the chunk of change to get started.
Buffalo Solar does not require a downpayment and customers do not need to pay for the system for the first 12 months. The Buffalo Solar loan comes with the following:
While other solar companies offer similar financing options, there are not many in the industry that do not require payment for the first 12 months, setting Buffalo Solar apart from the competition.
The solar panel and inverter manufacturers and suppliers used by Buffalo Solar are top tier equipment providers. For solar panels, Buffalo Solar typically installs the Hanwha Q-Cell Peak G4.1 300. These particular panels come with a 25-year linear performance warranty meaning the panels will produce a minimum power output of at least 97 percent for the duration of the warranty.
These panels also come with a 12-year workmanship warranty, protecting customers against any issues during the install process. While warranties and guarantees are standard in the solar industry, a manufacturer providing these warranties (specifically for workmanship) is unique.
With hundreds of solar installations and case studies available for review, it is evident that past Buffalo Solar clients are more than satisfied with their solar systems. Not only are clients saving thousands on energy costs, but Buffalo Solar provides the personal touch needed in what can be a complex process. Not all solar companies can boast such high praise from former clients. Many feel as if they were “swindled” into a solar plan, but that is not the case with Buffalo Solar clients.
Buffalo Solar offers a referral program to its customers. That means that for every solar system installed, the customer earns $600 and the “solar advocate” earns $300. Not all solar companies offer incentives like this to customers, even though it is a win-win situation for all.
Buffalo Solar is motivated to provide the best service possible because the company wants to be referred to other potential customers. Satisfied customers are eager to share their experience with interested parties because there are cash rewards. And the referred customer also wins, with a high quality solar system and cash reward.
While there are definitely benefits of working with a locally owned and operated business, there are some limitations as well. While some solar companies provide installation services to multiple states or a region of the country, Buffalo Solar does not.
As it currently stands, Buffalo Solar only does solar installation in New York — specifically Western New York or Wyoming County. That means anyone who lives or works outside of this area will need to find a different solar installation company.
With so many solar installation companies popping up around the country, a standard for certification has been set. This standard is the NABCEP certification. It is difficult to obtain and a rather rigorous process to maintain. While Buffalo Solar is a partner of NySerda, there is not a NABCEP certified installer on staff.
