OneGuard Home Warranty was founded in 1990 and is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. Currently, the company only services Arizona and Texas. OneGuard offers options for regular homeowners as well as real estate professionals. The company covers system and appliance breakdowns, repairs, and maintenance, and its home care solution covers a wide range of household problems. With coverage on your home's major systems and appliances, you get budget protection and peace of mind.

OneGuard also offers a variety of home services and tune-ups because the company knows the home requires more than just repairs. Its services include but are not limited to carpet cleaning, A/C and heating tune-ups, window cleaning, pest control, and lawn care.

OneGuard was acquired by American Home Shield in 2016.

Extensive Coverage

OneGuard offers a very impressive list of appliances and systems it covers. Coverage varies dependent on what plan the customers choose, but a full list of items covered are listed below in the FAQ section of this review.

Plans and Pricing

OneGuard's cost is competitive for the industry. For all plans, the fee for a service call is $69.

Sentinel Plan

The Sentinel Plan starts at $379 and covers a decent range of appliances and systems.

As with the Sentinel Plan, you can customize your Centurion Plan for additional warranty coverage for pools and spas, guest houses, and so on.

Guardian Plan

The Guardian Plan starts at $599. For this plan, it includes all the features of the Centurion Plan, but the kitchen refrigerator and washer and dryer are included in the base price. Buyers also have the option of including and second washer and dryer and additional built-in refrigerator.

Sample Service Contract Available

OneGuard has sample contracts available for each of its plans. The contracts detail what's covered by their plans, including instances of normal wear and tear that require repair.

Only Serves Arizona, Nevada, and Texas

While there are many home warranty companies that only cover a certain geographic area, OneGuard only covers two states. For a company that has been in business since the 90s, it seems odd that it wouldn't cater nationwide yet. There are other companies that have been in business for the fraction of the time and already cover nationwide.

Customer Service Complaints

OneGuard has received some negative comments from customers. Some customers complain that the service provider denied claims which should have been covered. Others complain that the call center workers were not helpful, or the contracted technicians couldn't finish a repair. The large amount of negative feedback could be a deterrent for potential buyers.

Cancellation Fee

OneGuard does charge a $50 fee when the contract is cancelled. Customers can expect a pro-rata refund for their unexpired term. A cancellation request must be received in writing.

I have been a customer for 13 years. Service used to be 5 star. Prompt responses great communication and quick resolve. Now the communication is terrible and my latest experiences have resulted in 3 different second opinions. This last one takes the cake. Pool pump died. Fist company said it was an act of god. Second opinion said otherwise only nobody from OneGuard bothered to reach out and tell me anything. I still have not received a call or an offer to upgrade my pump. When I called I was told it was in authorizations and someone would be calling me from there. Next thing I know the serviceman was scheduling to come out and replace the pump with still no communication from OneGuard. He even put in a request stating my desire to upgrade and he hasn't received a response either.

This is my first experience with a home warranty company, so I'm not sure if this is true of all home warranty companies. When I wrote a Google review about this experience, I received a computer generated response, like a digital shoulder shrug from the company. I'm really disappointed in how pool equipment is worded for coverage. Especially for a new pool owner who called for service for a leak in what appears to be the primary plumbing of the pool. Apparently even though it appears to be the primary loop of plumbing, the part wasn't covered, leaving me having to pay the service fee to have the contracted company tell me it's not a covered part. I was able to fix the part myself for less than the service charge from OneGuard. Maybe in this advanced digital age, a photo of the failing part could've bee submitted, and informed the part wasn't covered, and avoid this whole experience? I now feel apprehensive calling to use the home warranty especially if it involves pool parts, or items in the home I'm not 100% sure are covered. I also feel the need to keep the policy strictly for the coverage of aging items in the home, A/C. The representative on the phone was nice, and I don't hold them responsible as they are just following policy.

Recently, for a work order a technician misdiagnosed the issue which ended up in denial of coverage. We went ahead to fixing the problem out of pocket expense. It took over a week for the parts to arrive and few days to schedule the tech to be back. After they fixed the issue, the problem still continued. OneGuard policy is to dispute the resolution within 24hrs. In this case, that timeline is an impossible expectation from us to dispute since we didn't have the replacement parts until several weeks later. OneGuard will do nothing about it when I called them back regarding this issue.

Called to have someone check and fix my masterBathroom fan for removing moisture and they came out and said the vent was plugged and he was a electrican and that I would need a ac guys look at it because it involvesl duct work. I had told him that I thought the bearing was going bad in the fan and it had no suction but he said the vent was plugged and left. He was a nice guy but it still cost me $75.00 dollars and still not working. I blew air from the roof vent and a strong blasst came out. STILL NOT FIXED. SO NO IAM NOT HAPPY.

They say they cover things but fail to mention hidden things associated with that coverage. For example..says they cover water heaters but they don't say they don't cover hoses, pans, valves, traps, etc that cost more than the water heater!

The appliance repair company chosen by Oneguard (Mvp) did fix my problem had to wait for oarrs then in less then a month it broke again so they charged me for a call out again. Niw Oneguard offered 235. To wait . I thiink they wanted me to take the money and buy a new washer. That is what i did. It defeats the purpose of having a home warranty.

Because when you call with an issue the wait times are so long 2 to 3 hours just to speak to someone in the authorization department even the vendors have stated that they sit on hold for a very long period of time and certain things in the contract was not discuss with me when I started my policy properly.

It’s hit or miss on service. My last call took over a week for a technician to show up only to say they would send someone out a week and a half later to pick up the appliance so they could take it to the shop and diagnose. Still waiting for the pick up and no telling how long it will take to get it back or replaced.

Hard to contact, 1 G v wants all service requests do by computer 24 hrs in advance. When it is over 100+ degrees for over 146 straight days, 24hrs+ for AC service does not cut it

I want to genuinely thank Christian for being the only rep (out of 3 reps) to call me back as promised and addressed my concerns. He provided me with top-notch customer service from beginning to end. He honestly deserves a raise along with some recognition for his honest customer support. The 3 stars (instead of 5) is not for Christian, but for OneGuard's other customer service reps who didn't call me back as they swore they would. I had to fight to get a refund when a technician that OneGuard hired for me didn't do their diligent job. I didn't appreciate the extremely long hold times to get a rep and then having to sit on crazy hold times once again when none of the reps (except for Christian) called me back after having to further research the matter. Christian was the only rep to keep his word. Thank you.

There is a work order for my dishwasher on this past Monday. Today is Wednesday and no one has call me. The first time I call I waited an hour, and the person that pick up hang up on me right away. I didn’t even have a chance to say hello. The second time a car while I was driving, again the call lasted 42 minutes and no one picked up. The third time I called and spoke to a lady and she told me she will get back with me while she checked with the contractor. Somehow we got disconnected, I’ll figure she would call me back since she have my number on file. No one contact me. I called again and waited about 15 minutes or so, and luckily pending pick up. He is a lifesaver. He is Courteous and professional. He insured me that he will follow up with me by tagging my case. Associates like him is the only way to build loyal customers.

We rate them a 3- Star because on two occasions that we used One Guard, both times I was not 80-100% Satisfied with the service. Good work but not Great!!

Our representative, Kristen M, was great. The first payment I made was returned as undeliverable. I soke to Kristen about the returned check and told her I would send another check. She verified the address I was sending to was correct (I actually sent a print that showed where I was addressing the check). Kristen verified the address again was correct. Today I paid my bill with a credit card. Kristen was great, your mailing system needs major attention.

I've been with OneGuard for many years. I love the fact that you can easily open a service request online, or can immediately talk to someone and open a request or consult on a request. Always great communication. However, you have to read the fine print, especially for large appliances. You may think you are fully covered for replacement if something in non-repairable, but there are loopholes which allow them to transfer some costs to you - costs that can range in the hundreds!

Representative Tony was very understanding to my recent issue and was kind to send to supervisor for review. Scheduled appointment for sub zero fridge to have ice maker and water hooked up. Tech was scheduled and between One guard and Beyer appliance, neither party neglected to tell me they couldn’t do this service. Very disappointed I paid for the claim but did not get the service.

I have been very pleased with OneGuard up until this last service request. I called in on my hvac on a Monday. Someone could not be out until the following Monday. I had to call to find out what the status was on the service request. This was a Friday. On hold for an hour. The call was 2 hours to find out that it is not covered. So doing preventative maintenance winter and summer is a waste of time and money. Christian Flores was amazing in helping with information and getting a hold of someone to answer my questions. I would give him 5 stars.

OneGuard home warranty plans are the way to go - they are affordable and flexible, and their customer service is top notch! They offer a variety of home service repair options and are prompt to respond and show up on your doorstep! They even step outside your home to offer services like window cleaning!! Further, their fees are relatively low and affordable. The only con I can see is that it was hard to schedule a time for a repairman to come out, but it was worth the wait!
