I had to pay out of pocket when the plumber that came to my house couldn't locate the problem through our clean outs on the ground and had to get on the roof to snake down the vents because getting on the roof wasn't covered. So that was $300+ out of pocket on top of the $75 deductible I had already paid to AHS. Then, our AC went out for the 2nd time in 3 months with 100 degree temps and a baby in our house and they would not find us a local contractor to get our system working emergently but instead assigned us a contractor from 3.5 hours away that wouldn't come for 2 more days. I just canceled my service request, called a 24 hr HVAC technician that was local, and paid out of pocket.

I have been with AHS for many years. I feel the service has gone down tremendously. I have been put on hold an hour before anyone picked up. When someone did pick up, I was put back on hold. When the representative returned, she misinformed me with information that was not true. Some of the contractors they use are just out for money. I feel AHS does not do enough to protect their customers.

Easy to book an appt for help/repair. American Home Sheild sent me an email and easy instructions how to book appointments how to contact them if I need repairs for my home and it was easy. I made the appointment then they sent out the repair man quickly and everything went smooth.

AHS is very good at honoring there contract service. If an item cannot be fixed they will replace it. They also will send the best rep. to do what they can to resolve any issues, be it appliances or what you have signed up for in your contract.

We have had a great experience with AHS overall these past three years. I only dropped a star because AHS recently increased our premiums but did not communicate that to us ahead of time. I received an email May 17 letting me know that our warranty would be renewed & our credit card charged in June for the upcoming year... but there was no mention of an increase in fees. Thankfully, a quick call to customer service yesterday cleared things up and our representative gave us a credit for two months. That was very kind and honorable given the previous lack of communication on AHS's part.

Customer service is good. Only two real criticisms. Pricing is a tad expensive, and contractors sometimes a little slow to respond. But the work gets reliably done. On the upside, their coverage is very good and ceilings on major systems replacement like furnace and AC are also very good.

Rapid response to my issue. I had an electrical issue with my air conditioner. A technician came out and determined it was not the air conditioner but required an electrician. American Home Shield set up an electrician to come out and the problem was fixed.

No major complaints except I paid the fee to get my AC inspected and they said everything was A-OK but then the temperature rose and we turned it on and it wasn't working. Had to pay another fee to have someone come check it out. Turned out to be a blown motor.

I requested a service order for my AC and you were prompt. However when the service tech discovered that it was a fried circuit board in my furnace he said that because he was new to the warranty side he would have to talk to his boss on how to handle it and that someone would contact me in 24-48 hours. No one has called me about this and I had to pay another $100. To start a service order on the furnace. I am impressed at how well your company is run except in this area.

I've had three needs under the coverage. Two were handled without any issue at all. The other one had some poor communication and slowness in finding a contractor to complete the work. However, when the contractor was found they did an excellent job. We were disappointed, however, that the entire installation was not fully covered because of "code" issues. We purchased an old home and that's one reason we bought the warranty.

My water heater was leaking from the bottom of the water heater, the first company they had to fix it never called me back to setup an appointment, they tried to call as well but no response. Then the second company they contacted, called me 5 minutes after I got off the phone with AHS, they took care of my problem the next day.

I have had many experiences with American Home Shield. Sometimes it works well and a lot of times it doesn’t. It can be very difficult to get a representative and when you do often times they do not understand what the issue is. When I ask to speak to someone else they say they can’t I spend 20 minutes trying to get someone to understand me. Sometimes when things are going well, i can make a request online and get someone to the house within a day and the problem is solved. Sometimes though it take up to 6 weeks, yes weeks, to get someone to come out. When you have a house full of people you can’t wait 6 weeks for a fridge. Actually that took 3 months to get repaired. I tried to get AHS to buy me out but they refused. As you can imagine my tenant was not understanding after a week. I wouldn’t have been either.

The HVAC Technician that you sent was professional, thorough, and found my furnace problem in 15 minutes. The reason I didn't give him a "5" is because it took seven days for him to get here, and I was pretty cold (better a little cold than too hot, however!) Also, when I asked, after he installed the new Ignitor in my gas furnace, if he could add the special bleach or vinegar to keep the drain line clean, he said "I'm only supposed to fix the problem I was sent here to repair. Anything else should be under Annual Maintenance that you arrange for, yourself.

Mike!! Your servicer is exceptional. Another company told me they could fix a valve for $1800. Mike determined the valve was fine, after 2 minutes. Turns out my NEST broke, and wouldn't let cold A/C come on. I asked him to replace it with a regular one. Great now!

Quick/responsive. They’ve sent great service technicians and even ended up supporting a moderate-size claim for us. Unfortunately, the renewal costs are a bit higher than we’re willing to pay, but we definitely recommend the service as part of a home sale/purchase situation.

Need to work on auto pay renewal. Disappointed that we are not able to upgrade our coverage because we do not get notified of renewal in order to upgrade. I was informed that we can only upgrade on renewal date which I believe is wrong and we should be able to upgrade anytime.

Fast service, the only thing that kind of sucks is having to pay a $100 service fee whenever you need work done since the warranty service itself is not cheap. Beyond that, we have been happy. We had a pipe burst and our washing machine rebuilt by contractors for the company.

I’m a new customer and so far I’ve received great service, prompt responses, professional service and affordable rates. The repair technicians were very knowledgeable and discovered a problem unrelated to my service call. This problem, if unresolved, could have caused fire and major water damage to my home. Excellent service so far.

Prompt service however we had repeated issues with the refrigerator that was eventually replaced but we had to spend nearly 2 months without a refrigerator in the house while 3 different companies came and checked it. There’s no method to escalate an urgency and customers service never called back even though they promised to call back with a quick resolution many times
