The Good

  • 24/7 Professional Monitoring
  • Remote System Access
  • Doorbell Camera Surveillance
  • Life Safety Services
Peak Alarm provides a wide range of home security solutions with 24/7 professional monitoring and remote access from any mobile device. The company protects against intrusion, environmental hazards, and life-threatening medical emergencies. Customers are able to see directly inside the home with video surveillance cameras and also see who is at the door with doorbell camera surveillance technology. Video feeds are recorded using cloud-based software systems and can be accessed by the customer anytime. The company's life safety services monitor environmental hazards such as fire, flooding, and carbon monoxide. Many home automation features can be scheduled and controlled from any location with the Peak Alarm mobile app. Customers are able to control the home's lighting, door entry access, temperature, and garage door. Customers can reduce total energy costs and may be able to receive a discount on their homeowner's insurance.

The Bad

  • $349 Installation Fee
  • Three-Year Contract
  • Automatic Renewal
  • Limited Equipment Warranty

The standard service agreements from Peak Alarm are for a minimum of three years and the company offers contracts for up to five years. The contracts will automatically renew for one year upon expiration. Customers must cancel service agreements in writing and may be subject to an early termination fee. This fee is generally the remaining balance remaining on the account at the time of cancellation and is due immediately after the contract is severed. The company's equipment warranty is severely limited compared to similar marketplace competitors. Peak Alarm offers a warranty on labor for 90 days and a parts warranty for one year. This means that customers are responsible for these costs separately from monthly monitoring fees for the rest of the contract agreement. Service transfer fee information is not made transparent on the company's website and customers may be charged if they move to a new residence while under contract.

The Bottom Line

Peak Alarm offers a comprehensive range of home security solutions with 24/7 professional monitoring, and remote mobile access. Services include burglary protection, life safety, home automation, video surveillance, and energy management; however, customers must maintain services for three years and the company is not transparent with many of its policies and fees.

As we don't have many Peak Alarm reviews, we suggest comparing its home security system with our top-rated home security companies.

Terrible company... We originally took over the equipment for monitoring from the previous owner... The cameras were what we really wanted. Signed a 3-year contract - will never do that with anyone again. They stopped supporting the camera monitoring and since we changed our ISP they wont come out to reconfigure... Still paying and today I asked that they come get ALL their equipment... they said they couldn't touch the AV equipment because they don't work with it now... And NO they wouldn't let us out of our contract despite the fact that we are paying for something that they no longer suppert.....arrrrrggghhhhh!!!!!

This is a terrible company. I just recieved notice that I'm being charged $300 cancelation fee. I would not have changed carriers if their equipment worked. 15 years as clients. The house would not arm from the key fob. The new fob armed the house every few minutes on its own. Calls for service has to go to Ogden. NO followup. I had to call several times to get someone here. Repairs failed. Now they want to change for disconnect. I should be reimbursed by peak from having to buy equipment from someone else that works. $500+. DO NOT BUY FROM PEAK.

Be careful when dealing with this company. They will get you to sign for services that you do not need. The installation of their equipment is extremely expensive, but what is worse is that they will pull out that equipment if you don't pay their exorbitant monthly fees. We have an office building that they are making us pay over $500 per month in monitoring fees and they are also charging our tenants for the same services and fees. We have paid over $40,000 in equipment costs. We have equipment failures that they won't come and fix. Be careful.
