They have been pretty good until the ACA screwed up the ins system. Now we have multiple appeals for meds that were previously covered but now are not, but BS did not inform us of these changes for 6+ months.

This is my first year with BC/BS. Prior to this, I had an HMO. He care I get is exactly the same.However,my costs are much different, Under HAP, I paid nothing but a small co-pay while I now have $1,400 out of pocket costs that I am responsible for. Most doctors are In Network. They sometimes provide incorrect copay information to providers. They discontinued my plan and moved me into a plan that is not as good.

Health insurance is really confusing, but that said these guys make it as easy as possible. My plan is free for employee and starts covering after $5,000 is spent. They don't require a PCP, only that who you see is in-network. The discounts for being insured apply, then after the $5,000 is spent it splits 80/20. Good service when I call, quicker than you'd expect, and very helpful.

I have a hard time being able to view my children's health care because each individual has their own account. I feel as a parent or legal guardian our accounts should all be link so that I can manage my children's accounts along with my own.

BlueCross BlueShield was my primary health insurance provider both through my employer and as an individual policy for 6 years straight. At the end of that time, the company canceled all individual policy renewals for the next year because of possible legislation changes that they as a company did not want to deal with adjusting in their underwriting. Any time in the 6 years that I needed customer service and called, the wait time was horrendous, the agent was never properly trained to do their job, the supervisors and managers merely wanted me to go away and the touch tone system always sent me to the wrong state. AWFUL company to deal with!!

Waited and waited for pre approval for my ACL surgery and finally decided to reschedule my surgery and apply for disability in the hopes that maybe if I cancle my insurance and make less money I can apply for government paud healthcare so maybe I can get my knee fixed and stop living in pain. I paid $500/month for insurance thats seems to be almost useless. I pay more for thier services than I do for rent and they not only have horible customer service but they are only in business to take your money. Go with a healthcare savings plan and dont get ripped off.
