I have been very satisfied with BLueCross BlueSHield as our health insurance. If I ever have any questions, they are quick to answer and help me with any issues. The biggest headache I had was trying to get a preauthorization, but the customer service representative helped walk me through the hang ups and even got on a three way call with the doctor to help solve the problem. Our coverage has been good and we have been extremely satisfied.

I had been with them for some years through my employment. They were the first insurance company I never had a hassle with. They always paid timely and the contracted amounts. You could always see where you were on their website with regard to deductible and OOP limits.

We have been customers with BC/BS off and in through our employer as teachers. We have since retired and have chosen them for our supplemental insurance as well due to their reputation and coverage. We feel they do a good job covering most of our medical needs. Our only disappointment is that our chiropractic care under our BCBS when employed was covered and now as a supplement it is not covered. But we find them fairly cooperative and friendly to deal with and their networks extend to most places in the US and abroad.

I almost died of KETO ACIDOSIS a few years back and spent 10 days in the ICU because of it. Thanks be to god that we had BCBS-instead of having to pay a $35,000 hospital bill out of pocket we only had to pay $1500. Is our monthly premium expensive- yes but in this case it was worth every penny.

I really liked my plan, I was really mad when the "affordable" care act forced BCBS to discontinue the one I was on. My only complaints are related to the online explanation of benefits. I was mislead about how long online explanations of benefits are available, I was told 6 years but really it is/was 18 months. Also, when I got emails that a new explanations of benefits was available I had no way of knowing which one it was since the email had no date reference nor was there a "published date" or something like that online.

Well...it’s an insurance company so we set the bar low but, I’m grateful I have been able to keep my plans which they grand fathered in after all those years. I’ve only had one major surgery and BlueShield did take forever to pay the hospital (like over a year) but otherwise they have been easy to deal with when it comes to other basic payments. Their customer service is hit and miss. If you get someone who is giving you the run around, try calling back, you might get someone excellent right after.

We've had BlueCross BlueShield in the past. They were easy to work when we had a baby at the hospital and we had lots of hospital bills to go through. They were accepted at any of our local hospitals in Utah, where we live. We've had other insurance companies where we'd have to go to a specific hospital or Dr's office because our insurance wouldn't be accepted. But, with BCBS it seems almost anyone accepted them. That was the biggest plus in being their costumer.

We love the doctors that will take our insurance. It was very hard to find many providers in our area, that were reputable and ones that we wanted to use. The network of providers needs to be increased for us to use this insurance again. Health insurance is really confusing, but that said these guys make it as easy as possible. My plan is free for employee and starts covering after $5,000 is spent. They don't require a PCP, only that who you see is in-network. The discounts for being insured apply, then after the $5,000 is spent it splits 80/20. Good service when I call, quicker than you'd expect, and very helpful.

I have a hard time being able to view my children's health care because each individual has their own account. I feel as a parent or legal guardian our accounts should all be link so that I can manage my children's accounts along with my own.

The evolution process is 18 years mutating with my own human blood, x-rays are cpu generated to keep people at ease to not panic. This company is cheating people by charging and denying claims also I'm due a reimbursement for having medicare and bcbs is doing everything they can to make the clock run out on the time I have to submit my claim they keep giving me the run around about how to apply, then they stay my information is not in the system no matter how many times I have given it to them and they keep saying it takes few days to catch up IN THEIR OWN SYSTEM!!! We are down to a few weeks before they say I can't file for my reimbursement.

They are really do damage to the people who can barely afford it now just down right greedy. Now I'm going to have to see what other insurance agents will offer or help me with. Awful experience with this company. I contacted BCBS prior to having an abdominal muscle tear repaired and they advised me that the surgery would be covered under my plan. I then submitted the initial claim and many appeals thereafter and each of them were denied due to them deeming the surgery not medically necessary. Keep in mind that I had the same exact surgery at the same exact provider a few years prior due to muscle tear and the surgery was covered. I would not be shocked if their employees who make decisions regarding claims such as these get bonuses for denying claims. Unbelievable. I will NEVER use this company again and would not recommend them to anyone.

It is very difficult to contact Blue Cross and Blue Shield Federal Employee Program over the phone. When you call their customer service number you have to listen to a recording for 2 and a half minutes before you can say anything. Then they ask you a lot of questions and if they ever transfer you to a live person you have to provide all that information over again. We called them today starting a 345 PM. We spent 5 minutes on the phone and they disconnected us. We called right back and spent 5 minutes on the phone and they transferred us to some kind of provider call center and would not connect us to a customer service representative so we had to hang up. We called again and went through their recordings and asked to talk to a representative and the automated system told us they were closed even though it was 2 minutes before closing time and disconnected us. BCBS needs to fix their system. I have been a customer of BCBS for 25 years and it used to be much easier to get help.

This company really needs to teach its employees how to talk on the phone. My sister was asking a question on the phone and they told her that they wouldn't cover the nutritionist because my sister was "Severely Obese". But, they would cover weight loss surgery. The woman on the phone was very rude and didn't offer much help on any options or further information. Now my sister is not, by far, anywhere near 350 pounds and she was called severely obese. Common decency is a must in customer service and should be enforced in a company, but this company doesn't care. This is not the first time one of their customers service ladies has been overly rude and unhelpful.

My daughter is dying from drug addiction. Put her in rehab, just for them to kick her out in a week saying outpatient should be fine. She's down to less than 80 pounds and was running away constantly. I appealed, they charged me 3000 dollars for the days that I was appealing, kept her one more week and kicked her out. Tried getting her into another place, The BCBS caseworker, Saba told me that one in arkansas was covered. I had her transported from JDC there, just to be called the next day saying that she was denied because she didn't have an arkansas caseworker. Seems Saba doesn't know anything about how this works. Maybe train her better. My child is dying.

I paid a specialist out of pocket after fleeing my abusive marriage. I begged BCBS to update my address but they refused UNTIL I filed a report with the BBB. However, they cut a check for reimbursement and MADE IT OUT TO MY ABUSER. That's right. Victoria K and Christopher S took my money and mailed it to my abuser. I have filed multiple grievances to get the issue resolved but Victoria and Christopher are certain it is my fault they refused to update my address (and admitted that BCBS is so sexist they only mail checks to the husbands). If you are a woman, get your health insurance anywhere else.

Worse insurance company ever. As others have stated they take your money and then don’t cover you. I would like to understand how many others out there are having issues getting coverage for diabetic prescriptions. Been trying for over a week to get needed needles so I can take my insulin. Even went to CEO of both BCBS and the company Prime Theraputics this use. Still no resolution and as of Sunday I am out of insulin needles. They don’t care. My doctor wrote a prescription. First time needed needles they were fully covered. Picked them up with my first insulin order. The insulin order was 30 days and was given like 100 needles. Second insulin order no needles. Didn’t need them as I had needles left. 3rd insulin order was for 90 days and doctor changed it from 1X per day to 2X per day. So I now need needles. Told that they are not covered as they are only covered when picked up with insulin. Really? The doctor gave me a refill. Normally refills are when you need them. Dr. Knows nothing about need to pick up together nor did I. Where does it say that? Why would they need to be picked up together? Do the simple math BCBS. CEO won’t reach back out directly and has not gotten resolution from anyone at either BCBS or Prime. So I will not be able to take proper meds. Time to find out who all else is struggling g to get proper coverage after they are more than glad to take my payment for coverage.
