In-Network Provider Coverage

Eyeconic is the only online eyewear retailer that has a network of 38,000+ doctors. The site lets users buy prescription glasses or contact lenses with their existing vision insurance benefits. It can also connect you to local in-network eye doctors that take your same insurance.

It works with a total of three major insurance carriers:

  • VSP
  • Metlife
  • Cigna

This means that you can connect your vision insurance to your Eyeconic account to shop glasses, while only paying the difference between your insurance plan’s copay and the retail price of the frames, lenses, or contacts you choose. You will be able to see the prices and savings while shopping on the website.

For in-network benefits, this means an average savings of $220. Most people with Metlife, Cigna, of VSP insurance only end up paying $31 when buying glasses on this e-commerce site.

Remember, you don’t have to be affiliated with VSP, Cigna, or Metlife to shop on this site. You can make regular retail purchases or submit your out-of-network claim form to get reimbursed if your alternative vision insurance provider offers an out of network benefit.

You can even get VSP coverage through an Individual Plan if you are looking to get a provider. This can help you spread out the cost of your eyeglasses or contacts with a monthly plan.

Along with accepting insurance plans, glasses, contacts, and sunglasses can be purchased with FSA or HSA funds.

Lens Options

Choosing the lens options that you want can often feel like just clicking a bunch of buttons. Eyeconic’s online eyewear store makes it a little easier by breaking its options into lens packages: Silver, Gold, and Platinum. You can also choose to add lens enhancements like blue light reduction, photochromic, and more. 

Virtual Try-On

Eyeconic offers a virtual try-on that actually uses your camera and a standard-sized plastic card like a library or ID card to help focus and scale.

While this is still a virtual try-on, and not a mail-order try on, this is still super helpful when it comes to picking out glasses, especially if you need to be wearing your glasses to see how you look, which is difficult at a retail store.

Return Policy

This retailer uses a 60-day return policy. The company even has an easy system with a pre-paid shipping label that just has to be printed and then dropped off at UPS.

Prescription Change Policy

If your vision prescription changes within six months of your purchase ship date, Eyeconic offers to exchange your lenses or contacts.

Price Matching

With free ground shipping, you will get your new glasses in 9–14 business days. You can upgrade your shipping, and the soonest time estimate shows about 7–10 business days till you get it.

Prices

This website sells popular retail brands, unlike online retailers Warby Parker or Zenni Optical, which only sell their own in-house brand of eyewear. This means that it will be more expensive.

If you have vision insurance from Cigna, MetLife, or VSP, and you want to shop around for cheaper options than you have found in the store, try this website.

It may take a while longer to get your new glasses, but there are a variety of glasses to try on virtually, free shipping, and you don’t have to deal with out-of-network benefit reimbursement. The company takes care of it for you.

This site only sells name brand prescription eyewear. If you don’t have eligible insurance coverage, you might want to shop elsewhere if price is your biggest pain point.

I am a VSP member and saw that I could order glasses online with my insurance through eyeconic.com. I was skeptical at first as I wondered how they would be made and fit. I have always ordered eyeglasses in person. The virtual try on is great and helped me pick these glasses. Using my insurance I was able to get all the options I needed including progressive lenses for $100! I placed the order and two weeks later glasses arrived and were perfect. I put them on and they were just a bit tight so I printed the form from eyeconic to have complimentary fitting done at any VSP provider. The eye doctor office I went to had no idea what the form was for but adjusted the glasses for free. I will absolutely use this company again for my next pair of glasses.

I have used Eyeconic from the past 3 years. Last year both my wife’s and my glasses broke, and made a request to get them replaced. After submitting all the requested paperwork, our glasses were replaced. This year I used my allotment to get my new prescription glasses and I got exactly what I wanted, all I paid was $10.00 copay. Comparing with my cost with the stores I used before where I paid an average of $100 and their warranty required an $80.00 copay to replace my glasses, wow, I never going back to that. As long as Eyeconic accepts my insurance, I will be a customer.

So far I've ordered two pairs of eyeglasses from Eyeconic. I love the glasses. Very quality products. However, one of the pairs I ordered the transition lenses so they would darken up in the sunlight. They only darken up if the glasses are pointed directly at the sun. And then lighten back up again as soon as I turn my head away from the sun, even if I'm still outside. I need them to stay dark the entire time I'm out in the sunlight. And I'm not going to be looking directly at the sun while I'm outside, that's ridiculous. So I wish I hadn't paid extra for that feature since it doesn't work well.

Web site was easy to download my prescription and select my frames and lenses. It was easy to place order. Order was delivered on time. Prescription appears to be correct. Eyeconic’s website is beautifully designed and presented. It’s easy to add your insurance information and prescription. Once you do, your options and costs are made very clear so you can make the best decision about your eyewear. They have a lot of beautiful frames from every brand imaginable. As well as a fun tool to help determine what they would look like on your face. The whole process is quick, easy and incredibly straightforward. This is now my third consecutive year using Eyeconic. I feel there needs to be more than just a front view photo of the glasses. Possibly even a 360° view. As I was rather surprised to the the sides of my glasses are bright yellowish green. I've grown to like the color. But it wasn't what I was expecting.

I did think it would take more time as I ordered in the second week of December and was fully prepared to have them arrive after Christmas. Overall, it was a quick and easy experience. I got the contacts very quickly however, the discounts didn’t transfer to all of my contact boxes and I think it would be easier to have an interface were you could select right eye or left eye and not have to select both if there are different kind of contacts for different eyes.

Site had the wrong picture posted with Item number. Therefore I receive the wrong glasses. I had to send pictures and glasses back , then wait for a refund to account before I could order new glasses, pictured glasses did not exist in your inventory. None of this that happened was my fault. This process started with my initial order placed on 3/29/23 and I finally received glasses on 5/2/23. Your company did not offer nor did I receive any type of compensation for the mistake and time it to completed the order. Due to this I will no longer be a customer of Eyeconic, nor refer you to anyone else.

The glasses we purchased for my daughter were lovely in appearance, but we had them checked by her ophthalmologist before she started wearing them and the focal point of her prescription was a bit off. Disappointed to spend so much on her frames and lenses and have them not be perfect.

I originally submitted my order towards the end of 2021 to use up my VSP benefits. It took over two weeks and they rejected my request because their automatic system said my prescription wasn't compatible with progressive lens. That's something that should've been caught during my initial order. That caused me to lose my VSP allowance for the year. I reordered in 2022, got my order within three weeks and the glasses are horrible. I can't see anything up close and makes me wonder if they even put the prescription in right. I'm having to use my old glasses because I can't see anything up close with the new one. My old glasses have the exact prescription. My wife experienced the same thing with this company. Stay away.

I recently just used Eyeconic to order my contacts and the processing and shipping is taking a very long time, I have yet to receive them and it’s been over 2 weeks, they are scheduled for deliver in the next few days . What was good was that I didn’t have to call to get approval for my prescription I was simply able to upload my prescription blank onto the website and send it to be fulfilled.

This is a classic case of you get what you pay for. I ordered my glasses through eyeconic because my VSP (vision) benefit has them as one of the providers. I liked the price of the glasses I received and I even liked the glasses, but when it comes to support for repairs or anything else they are basically worthless. I damaged the hinge on my glasses and I knew it wasn't a warranty issue, but they would not provide any support to get them repaired or provide a way to reuse the perfectly good lenses. I will stick with using a local optical provider and supporting local business versus a large organization that could care less about relationships and just wants to be transactional. I will never use them again.

I just received these glasses in the mail today. Never expected a product to be delivered in such gross state - there’s an inch long human hair strand stuck between the left lens and frame. Was this frame even cleaned or sanitized before it got recycled or returned by previous customer? Talked to associated - there no sense of any effort to earn back the trust, only a superficial & fake apology.
