While negotiators always aim to achieve the best possible settlement, your actual settlement percentage depends on many factors, such as the creditors you've enrolled, the delinquency of the debts, the amount financed, and your personal assets.

Interest on your credit cards will stop accruing once your debt is settled, but an average settlement will still result in a reduction of balance owed even after that interest. Plus, it would prevent the compounding interest from continuing to accrue thereafter, potentially saving you tens of thousands of dollars in interest and decades of payments.
