I made a minimum payment. Between the time I initiated payment, 1 week prior to being due, they changed the minimum amount by 10 dollars. I made a payment of 7 dollars over the minimum , which resulted in being 12 dollars under the "new" minimum. Charged me 30 dollars late fee, and stopped my ability to use the card. Called me several times during the day when I was working and not able to answer the call. Called that evening to find out what was the problem. Was told that my failure to pay was the result.

Discover seems to be an easy card to get. However, they're real sticklers and won't bend the rules, even when it's their fault. I mailed my payment and it arrived one day too early. Because of that, I "missed" a payment. This caused me to have to pay interest and they dinged my credit report. It was obvious I had paid the payment one day early, so they waived the interest and late charge - but refused to take the hit off my credit report! I paid off the balance and canceled the card! I will never again use Discover Card. Their cashback is good, but not as good as you can get with other cards. It is also sometimes difficult to use, as it's not as accepted as VISA, MasterCard, and American Express - so you still need to carry one of those.

As a long time customer of Discover, quarterly cashback stores at 5% is a good perk, along with converting cashback into giftcards greater than face value. The ability to redeem egiftcards immediately is a plus, instead of waiting for the mailing of physical giftcards.

The best part of using a Discover credit card is that you get a percentage rebate for purchases. I have never had to call for help -- have always been able to use mail or online for any transactions or communication.
