Business Review: Leaf of NC – A Nightmare Experience If you’re considering Water Leaf of NC for your water filtration needs, I urge you to run in the opposite direction. My experience with this company has been nothing short of a nightmare—filled with lies, deception, and complete disregard for customer service. Deceptive Sales Tactics I hired Leaf of NC to install a sulfur water filter for my newly purchased home. The salesman, Mr. Farr, knowingly sold me a system that was not capable of handling my sulfur levels. His water tests should have clearly indicated this, yet he proceeded with the sale, hiding the fact that the system wouldn’t work. After installation, they instructed me to “run the system for two weeks” to allow it to cycle and function properly. That was a blatant lie. I later discovered that the system cycles in just 20 minutes—meaning if it didn’t work immediately, it never would. They knowingly installed a useless system. False Promises & Poor Installation Failure to Connect the Refrigerator: Mr. Farr assured me they would connect my refrigerator water line. They didn’t. When I called him about it, they said they would charge me an entire new installation fee to come back. Obviously, I refused. Delayed Installation: They scheduled my installation 10 days later than I needed it. When I found out the system didn’t work, they scheduled another 10-day delay before attempting to fix it. Lazy Troubleshooting & More Lies: When the technician finally arrived, he claimed that two water lines were “flipped backward” and told me, again, to wait two more weeks for it to work properly. But as I already knew, the system cycles in 20 minutes, not two weeks! Useless “Process” to Avoid Taking Responsibility: After it was clear the system was faulty, they refused to take it back. Instead, they scheduled another technician visit 10 days out again, just to “read the panel.” This was just another stall tactic. Customer Service is a Joke I called Leaf at least ten times, and every response was a robotic, scripted excuse. They refused to pick up the faulty system without first sending a technician—who, when he finally came, arrived in a car with no way to remove the system! When I explained this was pointless, he called his boss, and I received the same zombie response: “We have a process.” Translation? “Screw you, we’re keeping your money.” Even Leaf’s corporate office in Ohio attempted to intervene, but their calls to the Greensboro branch were ignored. That was two weeks ago—and Water Leaf still refuses to take back the filter. How I Finally Escaped This Scam Thankfully, I disputed the charge with my credit card company, which refunded my money and promised to take Leaf to court if they fight it. Today, I had a fully functioning sulfur filter installed by a reputable company (K-N-T-Co). Their installer confirmed that Water Leaf is infamous for being the biggest crooks in the area. To make matters worse, I found out that: Mr. Farr was fired from K-N-T-Co before Water Leaf hired him. This very house had a Water Leaf filter installed 7 years ago—and it was immediately returned! Mr. Farr was the salesman back then, too. He came here, recognized the house, knew the system wouldn't work, and still scammed me anyway. Final Verdict: Avoid LHWS of NC at All Costs Their sales team lies and hides critical information. They delay installations and repairs to stall customers. They refuse to take back faulty systems. Their customer service is worthless. I strongly recommend going with a trusted local company instead. If you’re in North Carolina, stay far away from Water Leaf—unless you enjoy being lied to and scammed.

It cost us around $3,000 to get our system in place. The actual day for installment was a disaster, as he dug holes all over our yard. He was very sweet and worked for hours. They need to purchase the machine that can detect things underground instead of digging holes all over the yard and making their employees work to the bone like that. After having it installed, we cannot tell a difference in water quality. Our neighbors have gotten other water softener type systems installed from other companies and could tell an immediate change in taste, how the water affected their dishes, hair, etc. We cannot tell a difference like this with this system, so we don't recommend it to our neighbors.

My husband saw an ad online for a free water test and set up an appointment on the one day a week that I work! By the time I got home, he had ordered a new water system from Leaf even though we had no issues with our water. We had a water system already that was old, but I didn't notice any problems with it. The Leaf salesman had my husband so scared about our water, even though the water he tested was what came into the house, NOT THE WATER COMING OUT OF THE KITCHEN SINK, which is the water we actually used! So there's no way of knowing if our water system was still doing its job or not! The new system was installed THE VERY NEXT DAY! Usually you have 3 days to think about and cancel a purchase like this. If it was up to me, I would have shopped around a little. The company that sold us our old system would have charged us only about half of what the Leaf system cost! And by the way, anytime I had a salesman come to the house, my husband always had to be there too. Also, I didn't notice any difference in our water after the new system was installed.

I will never ever recommend your company ever!! We get the Kamala H. treatment, avoid the problems and questions; answers. In other words we never get solutions it's always getting the run around ans go around the issues. Always told the product is working when clearly it's not. Techs can't even do their jobs correctly and or if they come they forget to do things like an important thing, turning the by pass off so the product at least attemps to work. Absolutely sick of paying for this product, we never get answers, always get broken promises, never get what we're told we're going to get, the products are trash!!!

This water system dose NOT do ANYTHING the company promised. We got the system to protect our renovation of our kitchen and bath. They have been to our home to adjust or check the system as we were having to clean rust out of our toilet, sinks and shower every week. We have had to replace our shower hand held an the rain head 2 times. The heating element in our brand new dishwasher is all rusted. Even though we have had tech after tech out monthly we Still had to pay the 350.00 yearly maintenance fee. We pay our monthly payment as agreed for 15 years. The sales rep "I don't believe" knew just how hard the water is in our area is. So no I would NOT recommend Leaf Home Water Solutions to anyone. now I will be paying over 9,000.00 dollars for a system I would like them to just get out of my house. We could call it even.

I actually went to the BBB and filed a complaint. I called in and spoke with a lady who told me that my "call to her represented my request for cancellation" and yet, it did not. I also sent my cancellation notice to them within the "three day" period indicated in their contract, and I had the postage purchase showing the date the letter was sent, but since LEAF didn't receive it for a few days later they denied my request for refund. So I had asked for a total home filtration system, and what I got was a four thousand dollar water softener. Scammy and smooth talking sales people who never return your call after the sale. Never heard from them again. Would NEVER recommend and would never buy from them again. I wish I could leave them ZERO stars. They don't deserve a single one.

I was told as long as we owned the home the water softener was under warranty, Of course that was not true, I have had to replace water heater 2 times and elements 3 times, No one would come out and check on it now after a one year that want to charge me. Leaf didn't stand behind the salesmanship and management promise to resolve my water condition scenario. Simply dishonest and field technicians validated after sales/installation Leaf Home Solution System couldn't resolve issues. Plus, salesman indicated an annual service fee of $199 to change filters, UV light, etc and then after 1st year Leaf said.... oh $199 was just a promo at the time of sale now it's $449. As a company, if Leaf stood behind the sale promises I would than have favorable feedback.... unfortunately not a favorable customer review.

Dealing with issues from the start. Had the system 1year before the tech noticed they forgot to install the charcoal filter. Then there’s the issue of water out of the tap tasting very salty from time to time. Even though I check the system for salt and for ‘bridging’ all the time. I would call the service tech out but don’t want to pay the high price for a call. I should have gone with name brand system had I known.

Great product, frustrating, inferior service. The salesperson stated that the old water heater would be removed, but after repeated phone calls, that never happened. The original installation was not done per the agreed-upon criteria, resulting in the utility closet door being unable to shut and the electrical panel door not being able to be closed. A subsequent visit occurred after I repeatedly informed the vendor of the issues, but the representative arrived without the necessary supplies, resulting in a functional but aesthetically displeasing equipment installation.

I took them to small claims court for not being truthful about the equipment they talked me into purchasing. It was not appropriate for the plumbing in my house but they failed to mention that bit of information. Despite the indisputable facts--water was at a minimum no longer potable, turned my fixtures brown, and smelled-- they refused to give my money back so I took them to court. I won.

They did a sloppy job of installing and left a mess. I let them know of the issue and they promised to send out a technician. After multiple missed scheduled appointments I gave up and made the fixes myself. Currently I am stuck with using Leaf to replace the light every year at an overpriced rate. I should spent a little more and bought a Culligan.

I don’t think it’s doing much of anything to improve my water. I have had a technician come and reprogram my system and it has been a couple of months since, and it hasn’t been working well. The salt in the brine tank has not gone down in a couple months. And I have been getting some grit coming out of my faucets. The water smells and tastes like iron. I don’t think it’s worth the high cost for a system that has been ineffective. I’m not happy with it at all, and I’m sorry that I bought it.

the salesman lied to us about how much time we had if we did not want their system. they installed it now i can not get to my electrical pannel because of their stuff is in the way. the water filter they put in is above my water heater so it is a hazzard to replace the filter. their stuff also blocks a storage shelf so i have a hard time getting anything off the shelf. i made several calls complaining about it but they would not do anything to correct it.

It took 2 visits to install there system. I have called them to come change out my filters under the sink and noone has called me back. Still waiting for them to call me. The Water dept. of Leaf guard does not even have a phone number listed for them. I had to call the Gutter dept and get transferred twice and had to leave a message. Still no call back.

I don’t like the system, it’s not doing what I was promised it would; especially with avoiding the stains in the shower, toilet and sinks. The system is way too expensive and on top of that now I must pay $400 a year for maintenance. In my last house I had a system that cost me less than $2,000 that did the same as this $6,000 system and for 4 years never needed maintenance. I regret so much purchasing this system that I’m stuck with.

I only left a one star score because there was no option for zero stars. Horrible service, WAY overpriced and the salesman that came to the house to sell us the system was straight out of a slimey scumbag movie. Not even a yearly service call - nothing. They took the money, had some sketchy guys come and install the "system" and moved on. I now have to find another company to come in and do the yearly service. Do yourselves a favor and pick another company for a home water filtration system.

My old water softener worked better! My water now stinks so bad, no one wants to drink it. The company said that I have to change my copper pluming to get rid of the taste and odor, even though there is an expensive taste and odor charcoal unit installed. I am so disappointed with this system! I gave up trying to get anything done. Please, shop around first.

Company is no good, they installed my system paid over 6k never worked correctly, they came out many times alesys s different person and always blamed the last person that came to fix problem. I have pictures of system and how bad it was had to switch to a different company and now have good water. I have well water and leaf will not handle this type of water. Company took responsibility for there system. Do not trust this company.

I was very dissatisfied with the salt-free water softener. Leaf replaced it with an undersized salt water softener. The installer messed up my chlorinator. I eventually replaced the entire system for half of what I spent on the Leaf system. I would recommend running away from Leaf Home Water Solutions as fast as you can.

Sales rep lied to us about how great this product is. It doesn't remove rust like claimed. The regen discharge line fell apart and I had plumber fix it properly. The unit uses extreme amounts of salt. Totally dissatisfied.

Literally a scam company. They will sell you on whatever system they can regardless if it’s meant for you, and they will try and get the highest mark up price. My advice, do research. Stay away from leaf if you have well water as well, they aren’t compatible. I was taken advantage of. Hidden fees also for the yearly replacements etc.

I’ll start out by saying the unit itself seems to be working appropriately so far about a month post install. I decided to purchase a system from Leaf home water solutions after a salesman named Jake from the leaf filter division mentioned They would be able to help with the large amount of iron in my well water. The salesman that accompanied him, Mark, seemed very knowledgeable about the subject was able to test multiple aspects of my water and helped me choose the right system for me, so I thought. I had concerns about placement and Mark explained it could be placed in my utility closet ( with no power outlet) or my garage( with no climate control system). When the subcontractor came out to install the job They explained to me that neither of those options were viable due to the lack of power and climate control and charged me another 75$ to install an outlet in the closet. They also were unprepared for the length of pipe needed to do the job and suggested piping the discharge hose blindly into my encapsulated crawlspace, to which I declined. They then proceeded to persuade me it was a good idea to pipe it into my brine tank. 1 week later the brine tank overfilled and flooded my kitchen ruining some prescription dog food worth about $200. I called Dan the manager and a technician and himself did show up to asses the situation and were able to re-pipe the discharge hose into my sump pump and explained because no physical damage to my home was observed they would not be able to compensate me for the time off work i missed ( to the tune of a few hundred dollars) or the damaged pet food and instead offered me 3 annual maintenance. After a condescending comment completely disregarding the fact the incident was caused by negligence and incompetence rather than equipment failure. I accepted after a rude text exchange with the regional manager and it became obvious the company had no intention of attempting to remedy the situation. Follow up a month later when i still have not heard from the financing dept on how to set up payment after multiple attempts at contact. I was forwarded back to Mark who proved once again to be ignorant about what was happening. After 2 weeks of attempting to get the simple info I needed it became obvious it wasn’t gonna be addressed to which I responded by informing them of this review and they have since decided to block me from further contact. I have never regretted a purchase as much as this, every aspect of the process from step one to today has been horrible. I find myself wishing I read prior reviews before purchasing. Do yourself a favor and stay far away!!

Clearly at some point, someone sold my information to this company and they began calling me at least once everyday. I blocked the number every time but they would just call from a different number, always still coming up as “Leaf Water”. This went on until I filed a complaint with BBB. I was informed by the BBB that the company had agreed to add me to their do not call list, and the calls stopped. Almost immediately after that, my phone began blowing up. I have up to thirty calls a day. I block all of them, but it never stops. Admittedly I can't prove anything in this regard, but it seems obvious that to spite me, they sold my information to massive amounts of scammers. This has been the most absurd level of harassment I've experienced since I had a literal stalker. There are endless complaint against them to BBB, yet they have an A+rating. It's very suspicious. Google Leaf Water Home Solutions harassment/scam, and you'll get A LOT of results.

Do Not do business with this company unless you just love to be scammed. My wife and I are 71 years old, and we have had a water softener for the last 30 years, as we have very hard water at our farm house. The softener has been in the basement, and it is getting increasingly difficult to get the salt down the stairs to the softener. We decided that we should invest in a water system that used no salt, so we called Leaf home water solutions to come analyze our water and give us an estimate on a system. They sent out this snake oil salesman who deliberately tried to scam us almost double what they were able and willing to sell the system for. First he analyzed the water and said we had very bad water, (which we already knew), then commenced to say that we needed this special system with the extra tanks to make sure the system could clean water, then he played with his calculator for 5 minutes like he didn’t already know what he was going to charge, and then said we can do it for $12500 (these numbers are approx, but close, this was all verbal not written, up to this point). In hindsight, I should have thrown him out right then. I chuckled and said ya, that's not going happen, he grabbed his calculator and said maybe there’s something I can do to lower that some, he played with it for another 3 minutes and said yes, if I do that we can do it for $11300, and again I said not going to happen. He did this to more times, down to $9800, then $8000 at which time I agreed, that at 9% financing we would do it. So he called the finance company, and came back saying that they would finance it but at a higher interest rate, at which I refused again, so what did he do, he came down again to $7000 to cover the extra interest rate, at which we agreed to. So he told us that this system would create a white residue for about the first 3 months and then it would go away, that it was removing the calcium build up from the water lines, well the white calcium ruined every faucet and shower fixture in the house with so much white stuff that when trying to clean it off it would take the black right off the black stainless fixtures, it ruined the glass shower surround to the point that you can’t see through it unless you spend countless hours with a power scrubber just to get enough to come off that you can see through, and then it comes right back again. This is not soap scum, this water treatment does something to the water that makes all this calcium coagulate into globs that ruin everything they touch, our shower head has white stalagmite looking things growing from each pore that the water comes through until they eventually plug up completely. This does not stop in 3 months it is a continuous process, if our water was was so bad when they tested it that there system could not clean it then they should have told us that at the time. We filed a complaint with the finance company and they notified leaf home water and they sent a guy out to inspect the system and reported back to Service financial that the system was working correctly, it might be functioning correctly, but it is not doing what we were told it would do when we purchased it, it is so much worse than the $500 water softener that we had to start with. We asked them to remove the system and pay the finance company the balance owed, and they refused to do anything, the finance company refused to put any pressure on them to do the right thing, we just got scammed out of $7000 by a company that claims to be legit. Don’t let it happen to you.

In less than a year, I had two Leaf Home Water softeners installed, each failing within months. The first stopped filtering after only 4 months, and the second one after 6 months. Disappointed, I contacted Leaf Home repeatedly for support. Leaf Home offered no real solution. They pointed to a clause in their contract that eliminates their responsibility if the source water changes. The contract vaguely states "water conditions can and often do change seasonally” and that additional supplies may become necessary in the future. This broad wording allows them to claim my water chemistry shifted and that maintenance is now my problem. The only way to sustain proper filtration is to replace the carbon media every 4-6 months, at a staggering cost of roughly $500 per replacement. Essentially, if I don't continuously pump money into the softener, I’m left with a $4,500 lawn ornament. Leaf Home Water softeners clearly lack long-term durability, and their warranty seems designed to be unhelpful. Don't waste your money and time – look elsewhere for a reliable water softener solution.
