Sunlogix Energy is a California-based solar energy installer that has been serving communities throughout Southern California since 2014. As a finalist for Desert Sun’s “Best of the Valley 2020” for best solar company, the solar solutions provider has earned a reputation for its high quality solar installation process and flexible payment options. As of October 2020, Sunlogix has completed more than 300 residential and commercial solar projects since its founding.
Sunlogix Energy is one of the few companies in Southern California to offer residential solar customers multiple financing options:
Solar Lease
Through Sunlogix Energy’s solar lease program, customers can start saving on their utility bill right away. The lease option allows customers to effectively “rent” their solar PV system from Sunlogix Energy, often at a lower rate than their current electric bill. A lease through Sunlogix Energy comes with a 20-year contract, zero money down and free installation, and most importantly, protection against future rate increases.
Outright Purchase
Like most companies, Sunlogix Energy allows customers to purchase their solar panel systems outright. Depending on the size of the system, this upfront cost could be as high as $18,000. Fortunately, system ownership gives customers access to the 26 percent federal solar tax credit, which effectively lowers that estimated price to just about $13,000. Solar panel system ownership will also increase the value of the home.
Solar Loan
For customers who would still like to secure ownership of their solar energy systems, but can’t front such a substantial cost, Sunlogix Energy provides financing through its lending partner Sungage Financial. Customers can also apply for a home-equity line of credit. Both options require zero money upfront, and still quality borrowers for the federal solar tax credit.
The solar installer attaches 25-year warranties for both the equipment of each solar installation as well as to the workmanship. In other words, in the event some component of the system malfunctions due either to faulty equipment or improper installation within the first 25 years, Sunlogix Energy will repair or replace it for free.
Compared to most solar companies, Sunlogix Energy is fairly transparent in terms of the solar equipment it uses:
Unfortunately, Sunlogix Energy serves a narrow area within Southern California:
Although this area represents a high-density population, Sunlogix Energy is operating in an incredibly competitive and saturated solar market, filled with hundreds of other solar providers vying for both residential and commercial contracts. Leveraging verified Sunlogix Energy reviews from actual customers is one way the company could potentially distinguish itself from the crowd.
Sunlogix Energy does not appear to have any certifications or affiliations with either the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) or the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP). The SEIA is a nonprofit whose sole aim is for solar and renewable energy advocacy and adoption from a policy and legislative standpoint. The NABCEP meanwhile, aims to promote best practices within the solar industry in terms of educating solar tech experts on the latest developments in solar technology.
While the absence of these affiliations does not imply poor quality on the part of Sunlogix Energy, their presence can send a message to customers that a solar company is at the forefront of industry leading practices and solar advocacy.
While the company does advertise solar leases on its website, it does not appear to offer power purchase agreements (PPA) to residential solar customers. PPAs are simply another way of investing in solar energy at a low rate. They differ from solar leases in that customers are only paying for the energy their system produces, rather than the system itself, for a monthly rate often lower than traditional energy costs.
As a solar contractor, Sunlogix Energy appears to be a reputable, competitive player in the California solar market. The company only uses Tier 1 solar equipment, offers robust warranties on all system installations, and provides an array of solar financing options that work for every budget. Although the company has a narrow service area, and few if any industry certifications, customers are encouraged to investigate the company further for a free quote or otherwise compare it against the top solar companies available in their state.
We're on a mission to empower consumers to make the best decisions and connect confidently with companies that deserve their business.
