The Good

Takes Care of Inspections and Permits

Solar-verse may be a good option for homeowners who want to take a bit of a backseat throughout the process. The company states that it takes care of all aspects of your solar system, including design, engineering, permitting, installation, and inspection. Additionally, Solar-verse promises to keep clients up-to-date with all progress and to coordinate schedules, ensuring everything works with your busy schedule.

The Bad

  • Lack of Information
  • Third-Party Contractors

Lack of Information

Solar-verse’s website lacks quite a bit of information that potential solar clients are looking for.

First, Solar-verse needs to disclose which solar manufacturers it works with and/or which panels it installs. From the lack of information, we assume that Solar-verse obtains and installs panels from third-party manufacturers. Knowing that brand and model of the panels gives consumers a better idea of price, energy efficiency, and expected lifespan.

Solar-verse needs to be more upfront about its financing options. The company states that most of its clients finance their solar systems. However, it is unclear how involved Solar-verse was during this process. Many solar companies will partner with financial institutions that offer solar loans specifically, so clients can get the best rates.

Although Solar-verse offers a workmanship warranty that provides coverage for the installation and labor, the exact terms and conditions are unclear. It’s also unclear if Solar-verse will return to fix the problem or if the company will offer to refund consumers the cost of parts/labor.

Third-Party Contractors

Because Solar-verse doesn’t employ its own team of technicians and installers (and relies on local installers), your experience with the solar process will likely vary.

When working with a third-party contractor, clients don’t always know what they will get. Many solar companies will require their technicians and installers to uphold a certain standard of conduct and take specific training to ensure they are up-to-date with the latest technologies or installation techniques. They may even hold them accountable for completing a job within a particular time frame.

The Bottom Line

We are hesitant to recommend consumers hire Solar-verse for their next solar project. The company does not disclose enough information for customers to reliably compare it to other solar companies. If you decide to work with this company, we recommend you ask for more details regarding which panels/brands it installs, financing solutions, and warranty terms and conditions.
