Peak Power Solar is a new player in the solar installation market. The team at Peak Power Solar noticed a lack of transparency and informed decision making among prospective solar clients in the state of Arkansas. To combat this issue, Peak Power Solar was formed with an emphasis on providing multiple solar options and allowing customers to make the best data-driven decision.

The goal of Peak Power Solar is for customers to save drastically on their dreaded electricity bill. Arkansas boasts over four hours of peak sunlight making properties in the state prime recipients for solar power.

Peak Power Solar offers installation to home and business owners in the state of Arkansas. More specifically, Peak Power Solar services the Little Rock Metropolitan area, including the following cities: Fort Smith, Fayetteville, Jonesboro, Russellville, Hot Springs, Mountain Home, Stuttgart, Bentonville, and more.

The Good

  • Online Savings Calculator
  • Installs Multiple Brands
  • Warranty Focused
  • Leasing Options

Online Savings Calculator

Peak Power Solar believes strongly in providing Arkansas solar users with both the information and education they need to make the best energy decisions. Prospective solar clients can simply log onto the Peak Power Solar website to calculate potential energy savings with the online calculator.

Peak Power Solar will also conduct a complimentary site survey regardless of whether or not the client decides to use Peak Power Solar for installation. Some installation companies will charge for these services and do not provide accurate savings data, but Peak Power Solar does.

Installs Multiple Brands

Typically, solar installation companies become authorized dealers or set up a partnership to install that brand of solar equipment. Peak Power Solar does not have one of those agreements in place, allowing for the company to provide multiple quotes and equipment options to prospective clients.

Warranty Focused

With no equipment partnership or dealership in place, Peak Power Solar has the option of choosing which equipment manufacturers to work with and provide in quotes to prospective clients. With this flexibility, Peak Power Solar can be a bit picky meaning only working with equipment providers that have strong, industry standard warranties in place.

Peak Power Solar guarantees to provide complete monitoring services and ensures that all warranties will be honored. Most solar companies simply sell the manufacturer’s warranty as is and do not always offer monitoring services to customers.

Leasing Options

Peak Power Solar customers can purchase a solar system outright. On average in the state of Arkansas, potential solar clients are looking at a $25,000 upfront investment. That covers both the cost of the system and the subsequent installation. Not everyone can afford that, which is why Peak Power Solar offers a leasing option. When a Peak Power Solar customer leases the system, they will pay a monthly fee to access the benefits of solar panels.

Here are the pros and cons of utilizing the Peak Power Solar leasing options:

Pros

  • No system maintenance
  • Set monthly fee
  • Easier to qualify for
  • Zero money down
  • Potential to offset electricity bill

Cons

  • Customer does not own the system
  • Takes longer to make savings worth it
  • Pay more overall, over time

While many solar companies offer some sort of financing or leasing agreement to customers, Peak Power Solar has found a way for clients to take advantage of tax credits, minimize the set monthly bill, and help achieve the clean energy goal for all.

The Bad

  • Limited Service Area
  • Undisclosed Equipment Information

Limited Service Area

Peak Power Solar is based in Little Rock, Arkansas and services the city’s surrounding communities and areas. Peak Power Solar can install solar systems in the following cities in the greater Little Rock area: Fort Smith, Fayetteville, Jonesboro, Russellville, Hot Springs, Mountain Home, Stuttgart, and Bentonville.

Residents and business owners who are interested in installing a solar system but live outside of this service area will need to look elsewhere for installation service. While many solar installation companies operating in the industry have focused service areas, it is more common for companies to service an entire state instead of a select few cities.

Undisclosed Equipment Information

While Peak Power Solar claims that it can install multiple brands to suit a property’s needs, that means that the company is not an authorized dealer of some of the latest tier-1 products. Some of the best technology requires installers to be authorized dealers of the products, but Peak Power Solar does not have those relationships yet.

Additionally, Peak Power Solar does not disclose exactly what kinds of brands can be quoted to customers, leaving a lot of information unknown.

The Bottom Line

As a new player in the solar installation industry, Peak Power Solar is making a name for itself providing transparent, cost efficient plans to Arkansas residents.

While Peak Power Solar provides services and resources that are commendable, the company is not necessarily competitive in the industry just yet. It does not have equipment partnerships, NABCEP-certified installers, or provide any sort of power purchase agreement to prospective customers.

Additionally, the area in which Peak Power Solar is able to install solar systems is relatively small.
