The Good

  • Broad Service Area
  • Energy Storage Add-On

Broad Service Area

North American Solar Power serves customers across 15 U.S. states, a markedly broad service area for a company only founded in 2020:

  • Colorado
  • Florida
  • Idaho
  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Nevada
  • North Carolina
  • Montana
  • Ohio
  • Oregon
  • South Carolina
  • Texas
  • Utah
  • Washington
  • Wyoming

Such a wide service area allows North American Solar Power customers a variety of state and federal incentives and tax credit options.

Backup Battery Add-On

In addition to solar PV systems, North American Solar Power installs solar batteries as a way to maximize energy savings, save on their utility bill, and provide homeowners with added peace of mind in the event their power goes out or some other emergency occurs. Backup batteries harness surplus solar energy, which can be used at night or in the event of a utility grid interruption.

The Bad

  • Quote-Dependent Information
  • No NABCEP Certification

Quote-Dependent Information

While North American Solar Power offers customers a wealth of industry experience, the company could improve by disclosing information in the following areas prior to the customer securing a free quote:

  • Financing options — North American Solar Power briefly mentions offering “the best solar financing options” to help its customers save money; however, the company fails to disclose the details of these options, i.e., whether it offers solar loans, solar leases, power purchase agreements (PPA), or can connect customers to PACE financing.
  • Solar products — North American Solar Power builds custom solar energy systems for its residential customers and provides some of the best equipment available; however, specific solar panel and solar inverter manufacturers are not mentioned by name. Consequently, the accompanying equipment warranty could not be found.
  • Workmanship warranty — A company’s workmanship warranty is its personal guarantee on the quality of its solar installation. Leading solar providers guarantee theirs anywhere between 5 and 25 years. North American Solar Power has not disclosed its workmanship warranty.

No NABCEP Certification

North American Solar Power does not appear to hold a certification from the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP), which certifies that a solar company’s technicians have undergone advanced solar installation training. While this is no indictment of the company’s service quality, the presence of an NABCEP certification distinguishes the companies that carry it as true experts in the field.

The Bottom Line

North American Solar Power, though a relatively young company, appears to offer customers quality solar energy systems and comes with decades of industry experience.

Providing customers across its 15-state service area with important data points like specific financing terms, equipment offering, and warranty information could greatly empower customers to make a more informed decision.

Until then, customers are encouraged to read verified North American Solar Power reviews to determine if the company’s products and services are best for them.
