EMT Solar and Roofing primarily completes solar projects in New Jersey, but the company’s service area extends to Pennsylvania as well. EMT Solar’s roofing expertise is a great asset when it comes to installing or reinstalling solar after roof renovations. Even though the company is new to the industry, it is NABCEP certified, which means its solar contractors are always up to date on the latest trends and technology in the solar industry.

The Good

  • Over 500 Projects Completed
  • One-Day Solar Installation
  • Solar Removal and Reinstallation Services
  • 25-Year Solar Panel Life

Over 500 Projects Completed

While EMT Solar has only been in business since 2018, the company has already completed many solar and roofing projects. There are a handful of existing reviews online for EMT Solar, and almost all are positive. EMT Solar may not have the years of experience that other solar contractors have, but customers indicate that working with EMT Solar was a positive experience.

One-Day Solar Installation

EMT Solar aims to be quick and efficient with solar installations, and typically completes these projects within a single day. A few weeks after the initial installation, EMT Solar will perform a detailed inspection on the system to ensure that it is functioning properly and saving the maximum amount of energy it can.

Solar Removal and Reinstallation Services

EMT Solar is not just a solar contractor, the company also provides roofing services. Sometimes customers are reluctant to invest in solar because of possible damage or weakening of the roof. EMT Solar can repair or rebuild a roof before installation, but it can also do that after solar installation. EMT Solar will remove solar panels from the roof, perform adequate renovations and repairs, and then reinstall the solar panels.

EMT Solar is NABCEP certified for solar installations and the company is a GAF Certified Master Elite Contractor for roofing. With this roofing certification, EMT Solar can renovate roofs, gutters, trim, and siding. Under this certification, the new roof would have a transferable life-time warranty in the event that the home is sold.

25-Year Solar Panel Life

EMT Solar claims that its panels are meant to last and perform for at least 25 years. The company installs Panasonic and Trina Solar panels. Both brands typically have a 25-year warranty on panels as well.

The Bad

  • Small Service Area

Small Service Area

Only residents of New Jersey and Pennsylvania can take advantage of EMT Solar’s services. The company is only licensed to contract business in these two states. This limits the amount of customers that can use EMT Solar.

The Bottom Line

For residents in New Jersey or Pennsylvania, EMT Solar and Roofing could be a great option for solar installation; particularly for customers that are also needing work done on their roof. With certifications, top of industry products, and positive reviews, EMT Solar is likely a reliable company for solar installation.

My salesperson Nick was horrendous but unfortunately, I believed him. I have had it for two months and I went from PSEG equal payment plan 320 to this month 427. Then I owe Sunova 231.99 so how is this better. The roof leaked twice but they were quick to fix it . I signed a contract at 203 with my credit card and auto pay in May. Then June is went to 210 despite me signing a contract. Now cause i used a credit card the payment went to 231.99 which started at 203 intially. Failed inspection a few times and left a big gap on side of my house that I had to complain about. They flex sealed it but looks awful. The plywood cost which wasnt explained to me was almost $1700. If you come look at all my stuff several times and still this many problems its not great. Customer service is rough as still trying to get a hold of Cody. They just dont care is how I feel and wish i could undo this. I hope it gets better but still pissed at all the surprises.

It was a sunny day back in May of 2023 when I realized if I did not finally answer the spam calls for solar energy, they would never stop. The next thing I knew, I met the most honest and professional salesman to date. a man who I can say fits all the necessary traits to become what is near and dear to my heart, A Freemason. An upright man, who spoke with knowledge and only offered the truth. As a skeptic on solar energy, Juan P changed my mind and educated me to where I am an advocate today for solar energy. Nevertheless, the honeymoon ends right there. 1. Signing my contract was a major task due to the mass confusion regarding my installation. 2. The surveyor that was sent was so young, he could not even carry the ladder to get on the roof which I had to do for him. I believe he was so young, that he still left cookies out for Santa. 3. The roof replacement day was a mess since the installers did not proof the main roof on the house first and did the garage replacement first taking the surveyor's word the main only needed repair. This was incorrect and they had to rip the main roof in addition which caused another cost increase and another contract change. 4. Panel installation day started with nothing but issues. They wanted to place an aerial trespass service wire over my driveway which would also affect my neighbor. Once again, they said the surveyor's report on using the garage electric panel was incorrect and this was the only way to get service to the garage solar panel. This caused another delay, which turned into a mountain of miscommunications and false appointments. 5. After multiple discussions, the decision was made to forgo the garage and place all the panels on the front and back side of the main house roof, something I did not originally want but now the roofs were done I had no choice. 6. Electric day installation did not disappoint as the installers came with the wrong information and placed massive equipment in my home and outside my house. They ripped down my basement panels, tore down my walls, and installed two massive 200-watt electric boxes. They ripped out my rose bush and left me with not only a major eye sore outside but a horrible gray set of boxes right in plain sight in my finished basement. 7. Inspection Day- Hey guess what "I Failed!" The inspector not only blasted the installation as poorly done and unsafe, but he also stated it did not even match the plans he had. A big RED failure sticker was given and back to the drawing board they went. 8. The fire inspector next day came and failed us by not having the paperwork. 9. Now to this day no one has come here to change anything, but somehow an inspector is coming back on the 18th of December 2023. I don't know why they think this will pass when the first inspector clearly states everything. was completely wrong and unsafe. Well, I started this in May of 2023 and I am about to go into 2024 still not on solar. You might ask why did I not just scrap this whole project. Not to mention, during this whole time, I was going through Head and neck cancer treatment receiving Chemotherapy and Radiation for 7 weeks. The answer is just two words, or should I say one name; Juan P. The man not only showed his professionalism by never lying to me. He continually was the only one to keep me informed and also took the time out on the weekend to reach out to me to see how I was doing with my treatment. As much of a disappointment Sunnova has been getting me on the grid, Juan has time and time again kept me calling it quits and restores my faith in customer service. I have been financially affected by the changes in the contract and the damage to my house from this adventure. I hope going forward the end can be favorable but at least Sunnova's HR department got it correct by hiring Juan P. I will keep my fingers crossed that this will all be resolved since I am already so deep into it, but my patience is running thin and nothing positive has come from my dealings with my Sunnova solar installation to date.

A spart of the install, I had to upgrade my electrical panel. The electrician that came out not only butchered the wall where the panel was mounted, but inadvertently cut through 80% of the strands of a cable he stripped and tapped into a 50A breaker. This cost me close to $6000 to replace a furnace and AC unit that we thought was faulty because it kept tripping the breaker. When the new system was still tripping the breaker, the installer discovered it was the electrician's poor workmanship that was causing the breaker to trip due to overheating every time the AC kicked on. The installer re-stripped the cable, reinserted it and I had a working AC. The next issue I experienced was my solar panels stopped producing energy. It appears a wire overheated and burned to a crisp between my electrical panel and the solar system's panel rendering it useless. A couple of electricians came out within a few days, and I was back online for a few weeks before the system stopped producing energy for a second time. I currently have a 2-week wait before someone can come out to look at it and figure out what went wrong this time around. Very disappointed with the entire experience.

Our experience was great! EMT answered all of our questions, several times (a lot of info to digest) and was very friendly. Their inspector was also very friendly. We required a new roof, it was 26 years old, and needed it. EMT Roofing was comparable to many local contractors. They replaced the roof quickly and did a better job than the original builder! The solar install went just as easy, their team was fast and professional. As a former builder/contractor, I know good work! I recommend EMT to all.

Absolutely terrible customer sales experience! We spoke to the sales rep who asked us to send the last 12 months of electric bills. We did that immediately. He was late for numerous follow-up calls, and then, when we requested a detailed proposal, he provided us with the same ambiguous document he presented on our first meeting. The lack of professionalism and respect for the customer was incomprehensible. I would absolutely NEVER EVER do business with this firm if their sales representatives are indicative of their performance.
