The initial costs of installing a solar system are steep. Most people do not have the thousands and thousands of dollars needed to dish out for the upfront charge. Buffalo Solar also recognizes that there are people who would like to take advantage of clean energy and its accompanying savings but do not have the chunk of change to get started.

Buffalo Solar does not require a downpayment and customers do not need to pay for the system for the first 12 months. The Buffalo Solar loan comes with the following:

• No payments for 12 months
• $0 down on long-term financing (options include: 5-, 10-, 12-, 15-, and 20-year terms)
• Interest rates starting at 2.99%
• Similar to cash loans available 

While other solar companies offer similar financing options, there are not many in the industry that do not require payment for the first 12 months, setting Buffalo Solar apart from the competition.

Equipment and Warranties

The solar panel and inverter manufacturers and suppliers used by Buffalo Solar are top tier equipment providers. For solar panels, Buffalo Solar typically installs the Hanwha Q-Cell Peak G4.1 300. These particular panels come with a 25-year linear performance warranty meaning the panels will produce a minimum power output of at least 97 percent for the duration of the warranty.

These panels also come with a 12-year workmanship warranty, protecting customers against any issues during the install process. While warranties and guarantees are standard in the solar industry, a manufacturer providing these warranties (specifically for workmanship) is unique.

While there are definitely benefits of working with a locally owned and operated business, there are some limitations as well. While some solar companies provide installation services to multiple states or a region of the country, Buffalo Solar does not.

As it currently stands, Buffalo Solar only does solar installation in New York — specifically Western New York or Wyoming County. That means anyone who lives or works outside of this area will need to find a different solar installation company.

Lack of Certification

With so many solar installation companies popping up around the country, a standard for certification has been set. This standard is the NABCEP certification. It is difficult to obtain and a rather rigorous process to maintain. While Buffalo Solar is a partner of NySerda, there is not a NABCEP certified installer on staff.
