We highly recommend that all homeowners ensure that the solar company they are working with to be licensed and insured — that way if anything goes awry, they are not liable. We also recommend working with solar companies that are NABCEP certified or have NABCEP certified installers on staff. 

Having a NABCEP accredited technician on staff is not required of solar companies, but employing a certified installer shows that the company is willing to go the extra mile to ensure that clients receive the best service. The NABCEP sets high standards for solar technicians and only certifies those up to the task.

However, this coverage is only available on select solar modules, and unfortunately, Blue Dot Energy doesn’t give the specifics.

According to its website, Blue Dot Energy offers its services to the Tampa Bay area residents. This is a pretty large service area considering almost 3 million people live there. Still, we would like to see Blue Dot Energy give more specific information — more specifically, which cities are within the service area. 

Unfortunately, since the company keeps its service area somewhat vague, many consumers will look into the company — possibly even schedule a consultation or site visit — only to find out that they are not eligible due to being outside the service area.
