Until November 2021 LegalZoom has been AWESOME! Last year that fell apart despite my best efforts to resolve the service failures. I tried again in 2022 and my C/S agent, Theresa was remarkable. Without her, I would be gone. If I call next year and don't get Theresa, or if I call and get the same disappointing service and HUGE price increases I got in 2021 and again now in 2022... I will be gone. There are reputable registered agent services for $50 all over the place when all you need is simply that.. a registered agent.. no reminders or fluff. I don't need to pay $187 up from $119 last year 2021 .. when it was $125 for multiple years in 2020. So the $187 increased price in such a rough time for so many businesses is frankly insulting and nothing I am interested in supporting. Everyone is suffering economically.... if everyone raises prices everywhere, no one can survive that when businesses have been hit so hard. DISAPPOINTED! Bring back the Legal Zoom that I have appreciated and supported, referred hundreds of clients to.. this Legal Zoom is not for me.

I paid for the Estate Planning on October 22, 2022. What I was not told is that you don't get your required documents in a timely manner. Today is October 26, and I still can't print out my living trust. I call about this yesterday and Adam promised that I would have it by end of day, of coarse it is not here. So they all disappear once they get your money and there is really no way to get your documents. I don't remember seeing anything that said there would be delays in getting access to your documents. Customer service is not helpful at this point because they already have my money and lost interest.

Stay far away. The customer support is the worst, in addition to having paid for a service I was never provided. I filed for an LLC and ein through legal zoom in February. When I received the documents I proceeded to open a business bank account and was told that my certificate of formation was incomplete. After consulting with the state treasury office in NJ and my CPA I was told that in fact legal zoom had filed the paperwork incorrectly. I spent hours on the phone with legal zoom and eventually was told they would fix it and I would have the correct document within 8 business days. Over two weeks later I call to be told they did it correctly the first time. They said it must be me or the bank and that I should fix it myself. It’s been two months since I’ve started this process. I can assure you after showing these documents to people who know, it’s not me. I now have something that doesn’t work and will have to fix it myself with the state office. If you go directly through a local CPA or lawyer the documents arrive within days. Do not use legal zoom.

I am saddened that I have to provide one star verses negative 5 stars. As I read through one review after another I see a commonality of frustration that is so relatable to my abhorrent experience with Legal Zoom- PAINFUL! I spent well over $700 to establish an LLC through Legal Zoom 2 weeks before Covid arrived. Due to Covid I could not operate this business. The “registered agent” is a total scam. $249 was taken from my account annually. Never any correspondence from Legal Zoom or registered agent other than withdrawals from my personal checking account. I dissolved this LLC through my state. Paid extra money to my state for additional confirmation of dissolution of LLC. I called Legal Zoom with confirmation number, they put the latest $249 withdrawal back into my account. Case closed - I thought….. Now legal Zoom just sent me an email requesting $25 to completely dissolve the “registered agent”, this is a money grab if I have ever seen one. The state closed this case weeks ago. I have no LLC so why should I spend another dime on a legal agent?????? Such a waste of my time, money and patience. Please run from this scam!!!!! This has been a time consuming debacle.

Initially incorporated with LegalZoom in 2018 and then my company's lawyer changed the agent to another agent from LegalZoom, and they were notified to cancel the services. After 2 years LegalZoom send a bill for 2019 and 2020 claiming we did not pay for their services and sent to collection agency. When spoken to the collection agency they verified that we do not own any money and verified the agent was in-fact changed in 2019 in Delaware. Legal Zoom is still sending us invoices and also affected the owners credit score for late payment. Legal Zoom is a legal company committing fraud and putting hard working owners at risk with their incompetent team. Please avoid this company.

Overall: Terrible support. Every time I need to ask a question - I have to wait 20-30 min on hold. Even DMV has call back service. Corporation creation Jennifer S was the person who was "helping" us. Total failure. She sent me an email about how offended she was that i was not happy and suggested having a call. Then simply never replied Estate planning Our appt was rescheduled with barely one hour notice. I purchased the package "Estate Plan Bundle Living Trust - For Two" There is no way to find out who needs to fill out the package. Calling legal zoom is frustrating - 20-30 min each time and then they transfer you again. AVOID LEGAL ZOOM

LegalZoom completely ripped us off. We paid the service for them to take care of the LLC registration for our new business and ended up with no response from any of their agents. We ended up doing the LLC registration ourselves and sending all the paperwork to state/local registrants. They included themselves as Registered Agents without our authority and included an order with them as Registered Agent. They stopped replying to our emails after their sneaky "order mistake". Our account went into collections as I just received a notice. This was from 3 years ago. These folks are snakes - Do not do business with them.

I had paid for a trademark search with LegalZoom and they did a very very poor job…the trademark was rejected and I called LegalZoom and talked to Joya a manager with LegalZoom and they weren’t willing to make it right…I told Joya that I was going to leave negative feedback on the internet but he didn’t care….we were having a back and forth and he said I interrupted him and he went into a long spiel about how interrupting was disrespectful…I tried to point out that a back and forth was how conversations go…I let him say his peace but boy to be dressed down by an employee of a company when you are a CEO of a couple companies and i’m 60 years old is quite offensive…I would find a better company to do business with…as it’s one thing to refuse to make things right but quite another to be disrespectful and I was nothing but respectful to him…can you say “power trip”....I hate leaving bad reviews but hey I gave them every opportunity to make it right...used to be a good company...steer clear....or you will lose money like our company did.

I paid for premium service for setting up the simplest service (DBA). I called after a week to as I saw that my order was stuck in the first stage of the process (name check). After ten days I called again as my order was still stuck in the first stage of the process (name check). I called and I was told the first time that they had too many applications and they would do their best. No progress. I called again and they said that they can promise a 7-20 days turnaround but that's not the case. They don't include in that, the public authorities trurn-around time. After a month and a half I'm still stuck at the same point and they say they don’t know when a simple DBA is going to be ready. This a joke of service, very very costly con artists. Stay away.

Legalzoom is a TERRIBLE company whose business practices consist of trying to trick people out of as much money as possible while using aggressive up-selling tactics to try and get even more money out of their customers. In my case Legalzoom somehow FORGOT to submit my Statement of Information to the Secretary of State for 6 MONTHS resulting in a penalty of HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS sent to me- that’s how I found out Legalzoom completely failed to perform the service I PAID THEM FOR. Of course after receiving the penalty invoice from the franchise tax board of California I contacted Legalzoom customer service and was promptly treated with skepticism and denial that they had any fault in the matter. After days spent on the phone with a multitude of Legalzoom customer service people and never being allowed to speak to a supervisor and getting nowhere, I decided one day to check my business page on the Secretary of State’s website and magically somehow the Statement of Information had been filed...by Legalzoom...6 MONTHS LATE and only AFTER I had contacted them alerting them to my problem. Overall my experience with Legalzoom has been filled with nothing but pain, frustration, and overpaying for services. Even their premium package options when setting up a legal entity with them consists only of “free” phone consultations consisting of relentlessly pushy salespeople trying to up-sell me on their third party services. In other words, what you’re essentially buying when you add on premium package options with Legalzoom is the privileged to be aggressively up-sold to by their third party partners. Unbelievable. Even timeshare rental seminars provide you with a free shuttle ride and some snacks. Not Legalzoom though, they just charge you for it. I will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER recommend Legalzoom or it’s services to ANYONE EVER. STEER CLEAR. This unscrupulous company wants nothing more than to take your money at a time when you’re trying to build a brighter future for yourself and your loved ones. My best advice to you is don't walk- RUN AWAY from anything having to do with LegalZoom.

Created a LLC in 2011 we are in NY State according to our articles of organization the secretary of state is designated as our agent but apparently legal zoom automatically adds themselves also calling it a free trial ( found that out from their rep today)- and then charges your company's account annually - on 2013 we received a biennial statement and removed legal zooms address from our paperwork - we are seasonal so had not realized they had been charging our account yearly for being our registered agent although they were not our agent - beware of this practice - I spoke to a person at legal zoom who said if I sent in copies showing all of this from the secretary of state I could be refunded - but after getting the proof legal rooms rep on the phone today said they do not refund after 120 days and she is the one who just told me they do the free trial and that most people dont realize what that means and that if the customer does not call in to cancel it they will continue to be charged annually - so although creating your business on line seems simple and easy - after the additional charges they slip in on you- you would be better off going to a real person who isn't going use sneaky practices to take your money ( I've seen some saying 159 - I was recently charged 399

--The directions online and the person who went through our initial application were wrong about the requirements for the name of a nonprofit, causing the first delay. --LegalZoom paired us with an attorney who had no non-profit experience. In addition he was 20 minutes late to our 30 minute appointment, he was condescending, and he was thoroughly unprepared. --We were charged prematurely for our business advantage account. --The accounting firm LegalZoom partners with completely missed our first appointment. The second appointment was made with another professional with no non-profit experience and he was 15 minutes late to our appointment. --There is no "submit" button for the form 1023 so if you start on it and continue to work on it, it just submits without your knowledge and then you don't have the ability to get it back to continue working on it. --You have to click through multiple links (some of which are hidden) on the LegalZoom website to find the tiny, light grey caveat that the "rush processing" for the Express Gold doesn't include the time it takes the State to get through the paperwork. We chose the $359 package over the $99 package specifically for the rush purpose. --I reached out to LegalZoom three times to find out why our application was delayed. Each time they said they would look into it and get back to me. No one EVER got back to me. I had to reach out again for a fourth time to ask what was happening and they told me the day before we were rejected. It turned out were were rejected because of two errors that were made by LegalZoom, not by us. So we were waiting seven weeks to be rejected because of THEIR errors. Then they refused to do anything to make it right. We had to pay the fee to refile, even though it was THEIR errors that caused the need to refile. Dishonest, unhelpful, terrible business practices.

BEWARE of the Registered Agent SCANDAL! This company automatically makes itself your business's registered agent and will continue to bill for this so-called service annually, which is literally just a name listing and they claim that they will send you so-called alerts! It's a scandal. I NEVER HEARD A PEEP FROM THEM until I just received a collection notice in January 2020. They are collecting for supposedly being my Business Registered Agent back five years ago in 2015! Yes, they are so desperate to get revenue that they are billing inactive businesses from 5 years ago! When I contacted the state of Pa, they told me they get calls ALL THE TIME from people like me who didn't realize I was being scammed by Legalzoom. They should re-name themselves Il-legal Zoom. Contact your state to find out if you can be your own registered agent/office. That's what I did. If only I had known about this option 5 years ago! They have no problem making themselves your agent and billing you, but they are unable to make changes to remove themselves as your registered agent. You have to do that on your own! If I could give them a negative star review I would. Go to one of their competitors. They need to realize that they are taking advantage of the unsuspecting. They should be all about customer service, not a disservice.

I used Legal Zoom and 1800 Accountant once in 2014. Never renewed services of both. Today 1-9-2020 we received a collection notices from a lawyers Caine & Weiner stating we owe $159.00 for representing us in 2015. We received no bill, no notification nor online renewal acceptance or refusal. We have seen several forums online with people just like us who are receiving these notices and never subscribed. We have notified the above stated attorneys we did not subscribe to their services and refused to pay this bogus charge. They advised us we could settle for $99.00. We declined their offer. They then advised us they will put us down as refusal to pay and we will have a judgement against our company.

They charge $399 for Registed Agent Service, my accountant provide this for free!! I form a corporation through Legal Zoom. Paid $736 for the service. Big mistake, later I found out my accountant will do it for half price. If you check local newspaper, and search a little, a lot of the accountant will do it for free if you use their tax filing service. Legal Zoom slap me with $399 Auto Renew Register Agent Service fee. The agent told me he can give me half off. Sounds like they are doing their best to charge you some money... I told him I want out, and he said I have 30 days to change the Register Agent from the state department. I called the state department, the clerk told me that she just spoke to more than 10 people before me that day had the same issue from Legal Zoom. Turn out, the change information is more complicated than forming a new corporation. I ran to my accountant for help, as expected, we cannot get the state record updated within 30 days. They just rob me for the $399 when my accountant provide this from free.... What a scam!!! They should be shut down by the congress or senators... Any public advocate, please look in to their business practice, the auto renew of a service they charge $399, everywhere else charge $50 to $75.

They are just a service that does the paperwork and send it to you after its all done they take your money and only ask you in the beginning if you have any questions after that don't care about you there slow and take 2 mouth to get everything for your new business to strat you have to get the insurance yourself it's not really a lawyer office just get paid for doing paperwork only but if you don't know how to get the business license and tax ID they do that only not very friendly people so I don't think I will ever use them again

If I could give this company -5 stars I would. I feel word of mouth is the best advertisement, and I've made sure to Express my horrible experience to anyone who will listen. I have been sending emails about cancelling my services with Legalzoom as well as phone calls with their representatives. Emails are dated over 2 years ago. I had to change my credit card number with my credit card company because legal zoom would not stop feeing me for their unused services when I've requested many time to close my account. I have an outstanding CPA who has cost me so much less for their services vs legalzoom. I specifically stated in my emails and phone conversations to cancel my services with Legalzoom as the business is no longer running. Their representatives are incompetent and will almost always give you a different excuse than the last, of why the account can't be closed. A year later I am now receiving a collections $300 bill for the Registered Agent. Which I told them I wanted to cancel due to the business being gone. They confirmed today that they have received my request but did not process my request as I need to contact the Secretary of State and have it changed first. This is the first time out of the 3 years I've had my services with legal zoom they actually told me to contact the state my LLC is in and what document I need to have filed. I had to contact Missouri state (I live in NC) and obtain paperwork, fill it out and send it in to the courthouse before legal zoom would allow me to cancel my account. If you have extra cash to just throw away, this is the place for you. Scammed me out of over a grand. I have other friends with LLC who's stories match my experiences.

Applied for LLC through legal zoom. Actually spoke to someone on the phone after completing online application as was concerned about the spelling of my name. People often spell my last name wrong. Well, after paying for the service I provided I get the documents with my middle name spelled wrong. Tersa, Who is named Tersa?! I spelled out Teresa twice to the woman on the phone. After calling LegalZoom regarding this they inform me they can only change some of the documents as the IRS will not speak to a third party. Understandable, but I paid for the convenience of not having to go through all that. Now I have to call the IRS. I'm expecting it not to be an easy fix in that I will be transferred from person to person. Would not recommend using LegalZoom as you may not get what you paid for. I didn't and I got and "I'm sorry" and "we can't."
