The Legal Shield Attorney got back 1487.39 that I over payed to a company.I tried to get it on my own for a year. When I got the membership, my lawyer wrote one letter and in 11 days I had the check. Then, we got the wills done..That's about $ 3,000 total. I am so happy that I have access to my Legal Shield Attorneys, for under $ 20.00 a month.

It dose not always cover ever thing at no cost and for any one to think that it dose that person either heard what they wanted to or the person explaining the product did not explain it properly. I used to be a member back when it was called Pre-Paid Legal, there was some serious medical issues that forced us to drop out and when things really got bad I forgot all about it and then I wished I still had back then, but I have it now and within a week they alerted me on a contract that I was going to sign for the refi on the house to the tune of 80K and I missed completely and the mortgage company fixed the problem right up. I am now an associate for Legal Shield, and plan to keep it for a long time.

My wife purchased a new oven. After waiting more than 3 weeks for the store to deliver it, we called our LegalShield law firm. In less than 24 hours, we had a new oven delivered and installed, and it was a much more expensive oven than the one we paid for. Our law firm also did a great job on our wills!

Once we needed help they couldn’t provide over the phone so they referred us to a local attorney who took care of our needs at a reduced rate. We will maintain our membership as insurance.

First day. I was appreciative of the instant access to relevant documents. However, they should offer to sell them independently of the plan because they have zero customer service etiquette or organization. Calling several times to fix things like my access to the website being inaccessible to my account because it kept prompting me to sign up after the first day, and then finally getting access to my account after some time. When placing an order for consultation. The Attorney's literally don't show up to the call. Calling the attorney's they place blame on legalshield, and back and forth ensues. I call to request a refund for the lack of professionalism, and then they give me the run around. Cannot cancel unless I send an email, cannot confirm that I am entitled to my refund despite the brokenness of their service. Finally get a follow up call by a retention agent, and she has no knowledge of the phone calls after the last interactions with the law firm between myself and legalshield. Unaware that I had already begun the cancelation process she begins to argue with me trying to bully me into keeping the service. All I could retort with is "get a working CRM tool and track your customer engagement so that you can know why I am cancelling." I thought all calls were recorded for quality assurance, but allegedly they use a third party customer service system to facilitate their business. Terrible.

I got LegalShield through my old employer. I had a little grace period after I changed employers to see if this was a service I wanted to continue. I had a matter that I needed legal advice. I set up my appointment for a Friday. I received an email on Thursday that someone tried to reach me. I knew I was going to be busy on Thursday which is why I didn't set it up on Thursday. I missed the call during the appointment time, but I called back when I could fully talk about the matter. After being on hold for a long time, I finally got to talk to an attorney. The one I talked to was so rude and short with me. That was my first and last time using LegalShield. I could see if I was being annoying. But, I didn't get to say much because I felt that what I had to say wasn't going to matter much anyway. I don't want to stick around to see if there are lawyers with manners. I'm glad my grace period is almost over.

Too expensive in my opinion for what you really get. I had this service for 2 years and paid $25 monthly and only used them about 4 times. When you call to use it, they give a time frame when someone will call you back, but they do not make appts. Very hard to connect to an attorney if you work full time, it's like waiting for Comcast or something "we will call you on such and such date between 8am and 12 pm" type of thing. Also the will that is supposedly free wasn't helpful and the attorney was very rude. Funny how they can sign you up right away and take your money, but what they don't tell you is that you have to submit in writing if you want to cancel, and they tell you you have to call to ensure they received the document, then when you ask if it's cancelled they say "it's in the cancelling process". Not helpful. Not worth it imho.

I used to love LegalShield and we've used it extensively in the past. This review will center on LegalShield and not the counsel they retained to deliver the service. I wish there was an easy way to separate the two of them because I have been happy with the advice in the past. Right now, I'm quite upset as the level of service has dropped significantly. The legal service when I actually receive help has always been amazing and I have no doubt that the lawyer who I finally speak to will deliver a great service while I have them on the line. But you are going to spend hours on hold to do anything before you ever speak to that lawyer. Last week on Thursday morning I submitted my request at 8:47am and got my email response that the lawyer would respond within 4 hours. Roughly 6 hours later I called the help line to inquire as to the status of my request. After 1.5 hours on hold, I reached someone that tried to get the lawyer for me and was told they were unavailable and would call me back shortly. Near the end of business day I called back and spent another 45 minutes on hold only to be disconnected. Friday was a holiday and so they were understandably unavailable. Monday morning I got my call and picked up the first ring to an empty line. I immediately called back and waited three hours this time before customer service could tell me I would receive a call at 5pm the following day. The young man I spoke with said he put a not on my file to have the lawyer attempt to call me sooner if possible but that this is all he can do. I've been a LegalShield user for many years and am shocked by the degraded service of the company. The only thing that prevented me giving one star is that I have appreciated the service over the years.

If you been paying fees monthly for 2-5 years and you finally need help that should be a big credit toward your bill. Because someone paying 2 months ago will get the same service. Does that sound fair. Update your program and give big credit to people that paid but never had a issue to leave. Wasted money could be savings for kids or life insurance policy that pays out at 18. Your old ways will cause you to lose clients you lost me. I saw this as a waste when we needed help when I paid but my circumstances included being off work and that adds up to zero. I am back at work because of my own understanding of law. But I looked at all the payments I made to LS. Was two months of rent I really needed at that time. Make it make common sense.

I've used LegalShield for two cases in the last two years. It's a decent option for legal advice considering what you pay. It is frustrating when you need prompt legal advice as it can take three days for them to respond/review. I didn't like how my lawyers were not local to the city I had a case in, this would be ideal as each court house operates differently. I had one lawyer to start, another lawyer would step in, and then the original lawyer left my case with no goodbye.

I’ve been a member with Legalshield for at least eight years, and in that time I’ve had a few small issues consultation with my primary provider law firm was generally very good. Recently a referral for a family law matter shows me where the significant problem is. Legalshield will refer you to their provider for a discounted rate. Only their provider in my case the provider had been censored by the state bar five years previous and didn’t have a single review that was positive online. I requested a different provider and this was the only option for the entire state. Legalshield is careful not to promise in their member guidebook that they will give you a good lawyer just that they will give you one of their lawyers. It’s obvious to me that they don’t screen For quality referral providers like they would if it was their life on the line. I strongly and emphatically do not recommend Legalshield. They get you for the small things in your membership but you can do that much more effectively and reasonably through other providers and other offerings online. Do yourself a favor and stay clear of Legalshield

My complaint is with their Billing dept. I had to replace my debit card due to suspicious activity. I forgot to update my LegalShield autopsy account. When they contacted me I gave them my new debit card and told them to take what I owed and put my new card on file. Then when next billing cycle came around I start getting calls,text & emails asking me to update my account and payment! When I called them to ask why is this happening? The representative who took my payment didn't update my account by retaining my card information. Now how is that my problem???

The 24hr service was the worst. Someone that was a member was detained. Attorney Ms. Frida(name spelled wrong) for Maryland( I was told I couldn't get last names per rep) told me all what the HCSA was going to do and not provide the person that was detained no help or advice did not call HCSO or nothing. I asked what the point of the emergency hotline if they wasn't there to help. I said thank you and that was the end. I called back to see if I was able to get another attorney bc I felt that Ms Frida didn't have my best interest the call rep checked w/ Ms kim(supervisor) to see if I could she said no bc I already spoke to Ms Frida about the situation I said I don't think she has my best interest and I ask to speak to Ms Kim and I was told I couldn't. So I said well I will talk to Ms frida but she never answered the phone again.Hr later I called back it was a different call rep named Justin S he judged the situation by the notes saying I refuse the attorney all because I asked to speak to a I supervisor told him I never refused the attorney I a question that I forgot to ask and if I had to speak to her I will. He go on talking about it's nothing more he can do. I asked and felt so low to say sir did I do something wrong or did I say anything wrong he said no, I told him it doesn't feel like it bc I'm being treated and deny service and that this situation is an emergency and I'm getting the worst service he apologized and continue to judge off his notes. I asked him what was his name he said Justin S I said I thought yall couldn't give last names he proceeded to be sarcastic and said well I knew you was going to ask I said you're right because I'm making a complaint his whole tone got nice he tried to fix the situation and I told him it's no need to help now because y'all made me feel worse and I already was being denied the service and he was not helping I told him you're judging a situation off of notes and you're not a judge you come and judging me thinking that you know what's going on and you don't and I told him two times that I had a question that I needed answers to he then try to apologize again processor I'm still making a complaint have a good night and I hung up. I never felt this bad in a long time on top of a bad situation. Sad part I recommend this service to someone and I pray to get a better experience than I did because now I know how to trust the firm that handles MD case so I think I'm going to cancel my membership. Also doing a complaint on all four of the people I talk to today I did not get the first lady name I did not get the first call representative but far as Ms Kim, Ms Frida, Mr Justin S I will call the firm Monday morning to file a complaint I feel like the situation would been handle well if there was an attorney go guide, call help in any way. Thanks for nothing LegalShield for Maryland.

I have rarely been satisfied with their partnered firm, Merritt Webb in North carolina. Although attorneys Clark and Powell have been excellent, I usually wind up receiving advice from less experienced lawyers there who will not research the question posed and who often times do not have any substantive response to the issue posed. Further, they have referred me to one or two star Google rated attorneys and have been reluctant to reference others when I choose not to use that assistance. Sorry, but I cannot recommend them.

They promised me a service then took my money and told me they couldn't provide the service they promised they would I was promised a lien title search on a real estate property before I paid after I paid I was called by a lawyer who wasn't even a certified real estate lawyer and admitted that but I asked him to do a title search for me and he did the same thing I did and googled it and then told me he couldn't help me because the website required a payment for their service and then referred me to legal shields actual real estate lawyers and assured me that they could do a lien search and review my contract and then that lawyer called me and told me that legal shield does not offer lien searching and that his professional advice was that I hope a lawyer in the county I'm buying the house in. So I paid 30 bucks for a lawyer to tell me I need to hire a lawyer!!!!!! I was lied to several times and tossed around and denied the help they promised. Date of experience: July 31, 2023

I would have given them 0 stars but that's not an option. I have a membership with this so called legal service. I have needed their help on a few issues and have received NOTHING. They have made my life worse by trusting them and they had absolutely no intent of helping but they have every intent to charge me the monthly fee. Their advertisements is a FRAUD, their so called helping people is a FRAUD, they have responses to people that cover their butts. This whole company is a fraud and a scheme to make money. Here is an idea maybe of Legalshield did the job they advertising then people wouldn't have to complain. If people complain your NOT doing your job. Stop wasting your money on this company.

If I could give legal shield zero stars I would. I paid for them 2 weeks ago thinking they would answer my questions (about my trailer park being shut down and being evicted) firstly I was not met with a prompt response from a lawyer, it was 3 days before I heard from somebody from LegalShield, and they just referred me to somebody else who then took another week to get a hold of me. Then when I called someone they said they were going to refer my case to a more specialized attorney and I never heard anything back from that specialized attorney. It was another few days later that I called the law firm that was assigned to me to complain that I haven't heard back from anyone, and the eviction was drawing nearer. Was told the attorney would call me later that day and when he called me he was really quick to spout ridiculous numbers about how much his fees would be and answered none of my questions that I couldn't get off of the internet for free. LegalShield offered me no help, gave me no peace of mind.. LegalShield is a scam and a ripoff and it should not be allowed to even be searched on Google to pray on the poor scared and stupid with its promises of legal advice and answers to questions for a "very low price"I'd say save your money and get a real lawyer but you're better off just looking on Google

The summary is misleading - the lawyers they contract with to provide advice are not representing anyone unless you specifically have a separate representation agreement. They are only there to provide advice, and as several reviewers pointed out, the advice is not always the best or even done by a competent attorney. In Minnesota, there is only one law firm available, and when you point out that you know more about the law than the person who has been assigned, they will stop talking to you. I reported this nonsense to LegalShield and after getting the runaround, someone from the corporate office called me to scream at me for not being ok with being treated like crap. There's a lot of sound bites on here from LegalShield, but the reality is they believe money matters more than integrity.

This Legal Shield in North Carolina is terrible. I’ve used this type of service before and they were great the name of the legal aid definitely wasn’t legal shield. I was looking for a lawyer’s office I could used for a breach in car warranty contract I hadn’t even driven the car 3,000 miles and the timing belt broke. Wynn Premier ( Phoenix American ) wouldn’t honor the power train warranty. That they say they warranty with a 250 deductible per incident for 12 months or 12000, miles. That an easy letter to write to represent us the client. Anyway while looking for a lawyer I posted on a lawyer referral website. I get a phone call from a Cheryl and she tells ya what a great company legal shield is and how she has seen some pretty threatening legal letters go across her desk to companies like this wynn premier warranty company. And how once a company receives a letter from a lawyer like she’s witnessed the warranty company usually does the right thing and honors there warranty they provide. And they would handle all paperwork up to going to court if it goes that far. If it went to court I’d have to hire a lawyer then but at least all the paperwork would be handled. So I jumped at that I joined right away. I waited a week before calling because I was still trying to handle the issue myself after I wasn’t getting anywhere I called and was assigned Merritt & webb in North Carolina and the actual lawyer was Danelle M . I called her and got to speak to her right away, she needed a copy of my warranty contract and a letter from car dealership working on my car. It took me about 4 days to get everything and I called her to make sure she received everything. I was put on hold the then after sitting on hold for 22 minutes I was hung up on. They say call lost, either way they knew I was on hold so I waited for a return call back. I didn’t receive one. So the next day I called back I was sent to voicemail. No call back the next day again left voicemail and still no call back. on the fourth day I sent an email never go a response or a phone call then it was Friday I called again got sent to voicemail, left yet another voicemail message. This was at 9 am Friday soon as they opened. Never got that call. Now the office is closed until monday so I write another email this time to the Cheryl lady that so me the policy. I figured she would call me back on Monday because when she was trying to get my money to join legal shield she answer the phone and emails right away. Monday came she didn’t call me or email me back. I looked back on my phone and found Cheryl’s phone number so I called got voicemail left a message. Called cheryl again on Wednesday and left yet another message. As of Friday the next week she has yet to call so I tried the office of merritt & webb for some reason the receptionist or secretary who ever takes the calls ask if this was a Legal Shield call I said yes she said there all busy I’m gonna send you to voicemail. I told her don’t bother they never return my calls. I think there waiting for my next bill to come up, I think they string ya long to get your month payment. They are a terrible representation of a legal program because not all suck like them . I urge you not to join legal shield if this is the only law firm that takes this in north carolina. So if you see the name Danielle M run or if you see Merritt & Webb run that’s who she works for they don’t care because I emailed the firm and never got a call or return email. You been warned. Too bad I couldn’t give them zero stars

This place sucks and is a scam on every level. They falsely advertise. Nothing anyone truly needs is covered for the monthly fee. Then the lawyers they assign suck and could not give a shit less about your case. The most recent lawyer I was assigned did not even seem fully able to practice law as he always had to have co-counsel with him. Their firm opened up not even a year ago they had no experience had no clue what they were doing! I do not think they even looked at all my evidence. They had no clue how to deal with someone with disablilities and actually got offended when I asked for them to petition the court for me to be able to have a disability advocate. They abandoned me just days before my trial which will now most likely result in myself and my emotional support cats being homeless. They have no experience yet they were trying to charge 400 fucking dollars an hour when they do not have the experience to do so. They even made fun of the way that I have to communicate due to my disabilities which is via email they stated it was confusing that is when I knew I was in trouble if they are confused about emails how the fuck would they be able to pass a bar or read law documents. Horrible horrible! The law firm I was linked with that is shit is Vanguard Law. in Fairfax virginia I want a refund from Legal Shield for any time I was ripped off by this shit service and I want a refund from the shit law firm they let rob, abandon me and put me closer to perpetual homelessness with disabilities. SHAME ON THIS PLACE! SCAM AND RIP OFF!

Legal shield is the worst thing I could have ever done, I was in an very wrongful eviction had been working with an attorney directly who assured me numerous times he would handle it and everything would be fine yeah for over a week than literally less than 14hrs before my court date they told me I am not covered I spoke with 3 supervisors and received all different reasons and I confirmed they were all full of 💩. I wish I can give legal shield 0 star The worst experience I ever had with legal shield. I am a member for more than 10 years and this is first time I needed and my experience was so poorly and very bad. To start the customer service is very bad. Anytime I called them I had to wait for more than 10 minutes and after I spoke with them and gave my case information and my availability, they called me wrong time while I was at work so I had to call back again and I was told my case was closed because I wasn't available. I reopened my case more than 3 times and any time I had to call them it was a nightmare because I had to wait long time on the phone and I had to give them all my information again not to mention I was running of time because I had a petrial conference. All I wanted to do was to settle my case and get my security deposit back. Finally I got a referral for an attorney and he told me I needed to pay $2.000.000 because I broked my lease and according with the attorney I don't had a case. So I didn't get any free legal help and representation after being a member for more than 10 years.... Like I mentioned all I wanted was to settle my case and get my security deposit back. I also asked for a counter Sue and I was told by the attorney I can't do it because the landlord isn't entitled to do it. So everything I asked for was denied by the attorney. Everything was wrong with legal shield ... I was so frustrated with their answer and not help that I decided to represented myself. I went to the petrial conference and I was able to settle my case and get my security deposit back without paying anything and without any complications or waste time and more money. Everything went so smooth and easy. I don't recommend legal shield to nobody and I don't trust them either. Next time you need help with legal advice look around, search and talk to other attorneys for advice.

I was with Legal Shield in California for 3 months and contacted them for a Landlord Tenant issue and was desperately needing help. It was my first time using their service and my first and last time booking a consult as I had the misfortune of getting a mean attorney by the name of Rocco P who was dehumanizing, aggressive, and disrespectful; speaking the way he did to me when I needed help I felt so defeated it was a horrific experience. I could not believe this was an attorney calling me for a consult, it was shocking as I had just woken up so was very caught off guard. He was overly comfortable with me and felt empowered to speak over me, and kept interrupting, and would not let me finish a sentence it was just an impossible situation. I just gave up by the end of the call and thanked him and left it at that while he literally just hung up. If you are in California, I cannot stress enough DO NOT SIGN UP FOR LEGAL SHIELD! You will be assigned to this Corporate Law Firm called “Parker Stanbury” based in LA and you can read their reviews across multiple platforms for yourself you don’t have to take my word for it including BBB. California will be Parker Stanbury, they only have 1 law firm for Legal Shield here that services the entire state of Cali - all Legal Shield members are assigned to them if located in California. I’m repeating to be very clear for informed consent as they don’t give refunds regardless of attorney conduct or being dissatisfied. I feel this is VERY important to know especially if you’re not a super assertive type as you will not be able to have an appropriate consult same as I didn’t. Rocco P was rushing me off the phone and wouldn’t allow me to have even 10 mins, dominating the entire 7ish minutes, I couldn’t even ask very important questions for a “consult” well under 10mins?! The local Bar Associations charge $35 for a 30 min consult AND you’re treated with dignity, respect, and professionalism. Not someone acting like you’re a nuisance as a paying member and very condescendingly saying, “Dianaaaa, Dianaaaa, I’ve got hundreds of people just like you I need to call; I DO NOT have time for this just send the papers, okay”?! Ummm — Sorry, Rocco but some people can’t help that they have these things called disabilities and as such never wanting to infringe on others, or make their jobs harder, or deal with adverse consequences due to them being perceived as something it is NOT they will need to communicate clear?! Legal Shield especially for a Legal Service is incredibly unprofessional, I was JUST trying to get clarification on expectations regarding the different delivery methods they would accept, timeframes as far as how long I have because I didn’t submit the first ones myself, and I did NOT want to be a nuisance or have my attorneys think I’m not taking my legal issues seriously or am some type of FLAKE as this was EXTREMELY important to me! As is respecting the time of professionals, I very much value my professional relationships and really all of my relationships with others and do go out of my way to be very considerate to others as I wish they would be to me. That is all I needed to communicate to this unnecessarily hostile attorney; I was trying to be considerate but also professional so I don’t miss out/miss the cut off as I couldn’t submit my own documents! Anyway, if you have an issue such as I had you will also NOT have any recourse, there’s 0 accountability, and they did NOT care about my concerns even a genuine need for an accommodation? Their complaint process was a waste of time, smoke and mirrors, they did not care about me as a member nor do they care about my consent. During the complaint process they literally ask if they have *my consent* to call, I checked “No” yet the law firm called me anyway? What’s the point of asking me then was a trick question, I don’t understand why have that option as a question? They were then dismissive and very rude about it when I brought it up, no accountability, this was their customer service complaint process? After Rocco the attorney was aggressively talking of over me, I couldn’t even tell him anything I needed to very important and relevant, they did not care about serving me as a member. Nor does customer service, they shut me out of the app and didn’t address my concerns and request for a refund. Legal shield operates like they’re above the law it was unreal, defeating this was supposed to be helpful legal help!

We recommended LegalShield to a friend who was battling cancer and encouraged her to have a will made. After three years, her battle was ended and my wife was informed that our friend left her as the beneficiary of her very small “estate”. Her family walked out on her during her second bout of cancer and when she passed, they all came out of the woodwork for what they could get. LegalShield would not defend the will they created and left it up to us to hire a lawyer in order to defend the will. This cost us over a year in time and 50k in lawyer fees. LegalShield did nothing to back up a will they created because of a “conflict of interest” because the family hired a lawyer who was on the payroll of LegalShield.

They kept telling me what I need to do. I said I would like You to write a letter to HUD. They told me to email the information weeks went bye nothing. If they can’t understand handling of my personal info, how much more poorly will they handle your legal needs? I decided to cancel service after finding the website advertised any subject outside your plan, you get 25% discount. What I got: the actual contract distinguished personal and business (the website does not). Suddenly my costs doubled just to have a simple, small business form made. They have no interest keeping your data secure in any reasonable manner. Their website design and data management is so sub standard to the point a young kid could design it, and in fact some of the worst I’ve seen in my 25 yrs in the industry. They don’t offer any form of double authentication. When I call, they say they removed the credit card info - but it’s only when I say “but I’m logged in and see it” they finally distinguish it’s from their internal system and not my profile (yet the whole time I was very specific I wanted my profile info deleted). I asked by email, with my cancel request, to delete my login, profile and credit card info. It’s been 6 weeks and I’ve received one email saying “we received your request”. No confirmation yet, of actual cancellation of the plan nor my data purge request. I can still log in, still see my credit card info and profile. It still shows my plan listed.

I used -tried to use- their service 4x, I always hoped that the next time would be a better experience but it wasn't. For the first time, the law firm was very rude, the second time they gave me wrong advice (turned out later after they referred me to another lawyer where I paid $120 for a consultation and they told me the opposite of what I was told by the Legalshield lawyer), the third time the lawyer I talked to couldn't really answer my question, the 4th time I scheduled a call with them but no one called me. Their customer support line doesn't support customers, if you want to know why you were never called, they direct you to the law firm where you are directed back to LegalShield. I spent hours without achieving anything...very bad experience.
