Best thing I ever did for my family. From teenager traffic tickets to buying a house in Texas, my knee-jerk reaction to a problem or issue is to call my Attorney and get the expert advise I need to make the best decision for my family. In 8 years I have used my attorney over 70 times and never paid a dime, other than my monthly $19.95 that is about $21,000 worth of services for $240 a year.

We bought a double oven more than three weeks before Thanksgiving. The appliance store kept putting us off and making excuses on the delivery. Once we called our attorney, and she called the manager of the appliance store, we had our new oven delivered and installed in less than 24 hours- in time for Thanksgiving. And the oven we got was a better model than the one we paid for!

The law firm has assisted me with a number of live events that I would not have resolved...due to to the cost of attorneys here in the Bay Area. Two instances are when a family law attorney helped me to get justice as a Father...and appropriate custody and visitation of my daughter. I also had them write a letter to a collection agency, who had been harassing me over an unfounded debt. The calls stopped after the letter written by the attorney. All of this for a small monthly fee. I will always have my LegalShield membership.

I have gotten my money's worth and more from my Legal Shield membership. Most recently I got a speeding ticket dismissed - no fines, no court costs, and most importantly, no points. The stop was legit, and I was fully expecting to at least have to pay court costs and a fine, but ... can you believe it!?!? ... nada, noting, ziltch. Before I had LS, I wouldn't even have known where to find that kind of firepower. This isn't the only time I've used my membership, so it's been worth every dime to me.

In 1983 I found and built Aim Insurance of Texas in Houston Tx. In 2003, I was blessed with two memberships. Family and Business Legal Plan. When middle of 2003, my own Homeowners Insurance Company gave me hard time on my own Homeowner insurance claim for 3 months, i called legal Shield. They wrote a letter and within 10 days $17000 showed up.. Later that year when I and my Company was sued for $1.5 millions, legal Shield Attorney defended me successfully for SEVEN solid years, and my total cost was only $1000 because (as I understand now), every year defense hours increase to a total of 300 in year 5 onwards without raising premiums... The fact that I can call and ask questions alone would have cost me a fortune with 6 kids. I've been a member since 2004, I had to force myself to pick up the phone and actually make the call the first few times. Now, I actually appreciate talking directly with an attorney. I've been represented in court--at no additional charge--on speeding tickets (no points yet). My sister's chapter 7 bankruptcy only took 3 months on her membership (25% discount). I've used the 25% discount a number of times. So far, for me, it's all been good.

I purchased Legal Shield from a friend of mine, he knew i was constantly going to Court where I appeared Pro Se for some time. Am I glad I did, My Ex Wife no longer can wait for the last minute to do what has been Court Ordered. With the Help of Darren Watts, I was able to recover my attorneys fees for a frivolous motion she brought before Fourth District Court. I received the award on April 17th 2015. However because of My Ex Wifes procrastination in paying me the amount I was awarded and opted NOT to pay within the 30 days I had given her to pay me rather paid me roughly 4 months later. She now owes me 179.00 dollars, and I'm planning on Collecting every penny, nickel and dime. For this simple reason, I've had to come up with a means to pay My Attorney at a moments notice and so Should She. After all "What's Good for the Goose is, Good for the Gander."

My husband and I used the service to help with a property we were getting foreclosed on. We tried to give the property back to the bank as a deed in lieu, but the bank refused.
We ended up selling the property at a tax sale because the value was way below what we bought it for. The excess money went to the bank. The law firm worked with us to help eliminate the deficiency.
I love this company and would not be without it, we've been members since 2013.

I have been using LegalShield for nearly seven years now. At first, I just figured that I'd get our wills and other paper work done up. My wife and I have used it for a variety of purposes that we never would have thought of when we subscribed from employment law questions, to tax questions, for protecting my identity as a result of personal information being compromised, for my wife's business a couple of times and to help when our teenage daughter was implicated in a traffic situation that we had proof that she had nothing to do with. It has saved us quite a bit of time, headache and money.
I have been very pleased with how the provider attorneys have been "Johnny on the spot" when we need them and customer service has always been helpful when we call them. Wish I could get this level of service every where else that I have to deal with.

I have had LegalShield since 2004 and it has saved me over thousands of dollars with the contract and document review, legal consultation (which is better than the opinion of my friends or family members) and traffic court representation. Even the times I had to retain an attorney I received a 25% discount off my attorney...the attorney I used in one particular incident was a top-rated attorney I had use prior to owning a LegalShield membership and I paid FULL price. I am TOTALLY satisfied with LegalShield and will NEVER be without my membership!

My son ran into some major real estate problems when purchasing a home. He needed an attorney and to get get needed legal documents, that he found out were going to cost big $$$$$$ LS gave him the needed info for a documents web site that he could do himself and avoid expensive attorney fees etc. He was saved a lot of money, without an attorney or expensive documents. My daughter had trouble with a phone and the company she purchased it from.......They were not going to replace it until after she returned it and waited for them to receive it, etc. leaving her who knows how long without a phone. After LS intervened, she received a new phone by the end of the week...

They have bailed me out related to an unfair traffic ticket from a nasty cop. The attorney was dressed to the hilt and got me in in the morning without waiting and I GOT totally off.
They also got a down payment back for me on a HOUSE because I discovered the builder did not get city inspections on his work. Just knowing they have my back is great!

Legal Shield does not help with lawsuits against government entities, long story short that was brought to my attention after before starting a membership calling and asking if they provide private counsel for suites in the area of human rights law.

I'm not sure how to feel about LegalShield because it turns out that the only real benefit to a person (rather than for a business owner) is that it's cheaper to purchase some forms than to obtain the same forms through other avenues.
I can see it being an immensely beneficial service for 'regulars' in trouble with the law (like for speeding and parking tickets) but otherwise, the rest of us can get the EXACT same service (pathway advice given by bonafide lawyers) for FREE.
So here's how I see it currently:
- Pay $29/month to have ACCESS TO ADVICE rarely sought. Add up the number of times that I'd NEED advice, within a 12 month timeframe, and I've spent $348.
or
- Phone the FREE service for advice and spend the money it costs ONLY for the forms I would require. So say that's 3-4 forms at 70-100 per (rough estimate). I'd be paying the same, less, or slightly more, than one full year of membership with THIS service.
WITH this service, I'd be paying the $348/year PLUS forms (if the forms themselves are not free through this service).
The lawyer I spoke with, himself, was very kind and thorough in his questions. I forget his name (I'm awful with names) but I would recommend him, certainly. So for him, I will give two stars.
One star is because I can see the benefit of the service.
Three stars and not Five because there is a free service elsewhere in Canada with lawyers who advise you on what avenues you can take to resolve whatever your issue is- which seems to be the same purpose as this service provides.

I signed up when we were dabbling in rental properties. That didn't last too long, so Legalshield was only used for personal matters. Thankfully not a lot of those, but often I had a question on how something would affect my elderly parents, or something else I was associated with, but not a directly personal matter. They wouldn't answer those questions. Also, you can't 'easily' ask a general legal question. The phone screener requires a bunch of information about the person/company you are asking about - "general question" isn't allowed. They also require that you go through all your account and contact information with every new request. Doesn't matter that you just confirmed everything yesterday - have to do it all again if its a new request. A small thing I suppose, but an annoyance. In the end, I didn't get much value from it and cancelled.

I had a bad experience with a lawyer. I called my field rep who walked me through the complaint process and I got to talk to a different lawyer. The first refused to even look at my contract, the second reviewed it and was very helpful in giving me some important information on what to watch for going forward. My field rep was a good listener and put no pressure on me to "stay" as a member. As a result of my second experience, I am glad to have this membership. I guess not all lawyers are suited for this empowering service. It is good to now I have back up!

I'm a longtime member of Legal Shield (over 10 years) but I am reluctant to recommend it because of my experiences. I am dissatisfied with their service of providing attoney advice as a monthly membership. The plan works by allowing you to call a phone number for a local provider firm and then speaking to an attorney by phone about your legal matter and having them perform legal services for you. Don't get me wrong, the plan is a good value for the money and you get a lot. However, it has serious limitations that you need to be aware of if you choose to get it. Here are some problems I have come across. First, you get too much bad legal advice. I had one case where I spoke to attorneys to file two cases against a landlord and a moving services company. Advice was adequate to cover the case filing but they neglected to warn me to file against all of the parties involved. The outcome was that I couldn't collect on the judgement because the moving company didn't have property in its name. Had I questioned the owner and learned of his banks and other business names I could have collected. Case fail. I had another time when a tenant in an apartment complex retaliated against me for complaining to the complex about her noisy children who were loitering in the street outside my apartment. The mother falsely claimed that I was stalking her and the complex decided to get rid of me by filing for eviction on the false claim that I was a stalker. All through that case I followed advice from the provider firm to the letter yet when I was sued and filed to use my legal defense hours benefit the firm rejected my case as unlikely to win. I appealed to the state attorney general for help and the company reversed policy. The supervising attorney was sent to help me and attended the eviction hearing however he seemed to not spend any time on the stalking charge. The mother lied on the stand and the attorney didn't question and discredit her. I lost the case and ended up appealing and settling however it damaged my credit because it showed that the apartment complex filed to evict me. My most recent case was a fraud case. Their service failed to help with this one also. I called several times on this one and did talk to one attorney who was helpful but at it developed their managing attorney almost wrecked it. First, he said that they couldn't review the case because there was a 10 page document review limit. Next they said that they didn't have any attorney specialists that handled this area of law. Third, a supervising attorney told me, without even reviewing the case documents, that the case had no merit. I was able to find attorney specialists on my own but I expected for Merrit Webb to be able to do this for me. I also had a disability insurance case where they referred me to a local attorney. However, this attorney didn't bother to read my doctor's notes and did't strengthen the case by asking me to do a pain and fatigue journal and to have friends and family write letters about how impaired I was because of the condition. The case dragged out four years with a positive conclusion but it was hampered by the lack of initiative of the Legal Shield referral attorney. I've spoken with Legal Shield's corporate office and they have no interest in correcting these problems. Their stance is use the service if you want and if you don't like it then quit.

I look at this industry in the same aspect of insurance. Everything is not covered at 100% so I review my contract to see what is covered. If it falls outside to the scope of life events then I still save money because it falls into the discount off of what the attorney fee may normally be. So either way I Save! That's what it is about right?

Most recently I contacted an attorney about a contract my husband and I signed when we were both ill... I already knew the answer - but I needed confirmation. I didn't like the answer I got (I wasn't happy with it) but I knew that it was the correct answer. This organization has saved my family many times! I am very glad to have it.

I have been a happy member for 6 months. I have found many situations regarding employment, taxes and HOA to name a few where having the ability to consult an attorney was extremely helpful. My father uses his small biz membership for his corporation and it has saved him thousands in attorney fees over the years. Everyone has trivial legal matters and questions come up all the time they just may not realize it because they don't think they can call an attorney. They hired a law firm in Indiana that wrote a letter on my behalf to the people in my house about the 3 years back taxes and insurance that was breached according to the contract. The membership offers more than expected and what most families need. The 25% discount can be substantial if there is information or action required outside of the membership. Being covered nationwide for traffic violations and for emergency situations is comforting. The whole family is covered for one price and the price doesn't change because you use it.
