The Good

  • Competitive Pricing
  • Comprehensive Warranty
  • Variety of Product and Services

Affordable, High-Quality Materials

Milgard offers windows in various materials including vinyl, fiberglass, and aluminum, catering to different budgets and performance needs. Vinyl is particularly popular for its affordability and low maintenance, while fiberglass provides strength and durability, especially in extreme weather conditions.

Energy Efficiency

Milgard windows are ENERGY STAR® certified, providing enhanced energy savings. The windows feature Low-E glass and advanced spacers that reduce heat transfer, making them ideal for maintaining indoor comfort while cutting energy bills.

Competitive Pricing

Milgard windows are known for their affordability and competitive pricing within the industry. Depending on the window type and series, the cost of a Milgard window can range from $325 to $1,300 per window. Below is a breakdown of costs by series:

  • Tuscany Series: $500–$1,050 (including installation)
  • Trinsic Series: $480–$1,200 (including installation)
  • Style Line Series: $375–$1,000 (including installation)
  • Ultra Series: $475–$1,000 (including installation)

Installation typically adds another $200 to $500 per window depending on location and complexity.

Comprehensive Warranty

Milgard offers a Full Lifetime Warranty on many of its window products, which covers the original purchaser for as long as they own their home. This warranty includes parts and labor for material or workmanship defects. Some series, such as the Tuscany and Trinsic, also offer optional Glass Breakage Coverage, providing additional peace of mind. Additionally, upon selling the home, the warranty extends to the new owner for up to 10 years.

Variety of Product and Services

Milgard offers a variety of the best replacement windows and patio doors. Milgard windows come in multiple styles, including single-hung, double-hung, casement, slider, awning, and specialty windows. Customers also have the option to request a design consultation, where a professional will help them identify which frame materials, glass options, colors, and finishes will best fit their preferences. From start to finish, Milgard Certified Dealers will walk the customer through the process to ensure that they are satisfied with all of the available options.

The Bad

  • Limited Availability

Limited Availability Across Regions

Milgard’s availability is more concentrated in the Western United States, which may limit access for homeowners in other regions. As a result, those outside the primary service area may face challenges finding authorized dealers or servicing options.

Installation Variability

While Milgard manufactures its windows in-house, the company does not offer in-house installation services. As a result, the quality of installation may vary depending on the your installer. This can lead to inconsistent installation experiences, potentially affecting the overall performance of the windows.

Longer Production Times

Some customers have reported delays in window production and delivery, which can be problematic for time-sensitive projects. While the product quality remains high, potential delays should be considered when planning large-scale installations or replacements.

gavel

The Bottom Line

Milgard Windows stands out as an excellent choice for homeowners looking for affordable, energy-efficient, and customizable window solutions. With a variety of materials and styles to choose from, Milgard meets the needs of both budget-conscious customers and those seeking premium options like fiberglass. While the company excels in warranty offerings and product quality, potential regional limitations and installation variability are factors to consider.

The service was great and the technicians were helpful, my only criticism is the windows were installed dirty with sticker residue. I had to go out on the roof and clean them. Considering the tech was on the roof already it would have courteous to remove the sticker residue. Thank you-

Warranty work. Fulfilled guarantee. Quality work. Installers professional and friendly. Only complaint is service was scheduled between 12:45 - 2:45, and they arrived about 10:30, without a call advising they would be early.

Good quality windows, which - for the most part - function well for many years. The service visit to replace one of the newer windows was quick, taking maybe 15 minutes from start to finish. The tech was courteous and had a sense of humor. If I were to change anything, it would be to extend the warranty from the installing owner to subsequent owner. We bought our house 15 years ago. All windows have been replaced with Milgard Windows by the previous owners; I only installed two new Milgard windows (one of them failed and was replaced during this visit). But the warranty on the windows installed by the previous owners does not extend to us. I wish Milgard could extend the warranty to us, if not in full, then at least 50% of the cost of repairs, for example. Incidentally, when I had the two new windows installed, I asked the sales person if Milgard would extend the warranty on existing windows to us and he said yes. I suppose this information was not put in any written form, however, because - on my subsequent calls - other salespersons vehemently denied this.

Overall, I was highly satisfied with my experience with Milgard. On the positive side, once my appointment date was set I received a phone call two days in advance to confirm my appointment and to tell me the 2-hour time period I could expect the technician. Serge arrived during the early part of the time block, and accomplished the task very quickly and efficiently. He made sure he took care of all of the issues I was having with my windows before he left. He was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the glass unit he brought to replace my scratched window also had a small scratch in it. He offered me two options: take the new unit back and reorder, or replace the glass and told me I could always replace it later if it bothered me after living with it. I opted to keep the new glass unit because it was a huge improvement over the original glass. I appreciate the fact that he gave me options. The only other negative I experienced was getting the appointment scheduled. I completely understand how busy the service department is, but after submitting my service request and receiving a confirmation email with a case number, I waited quite a few weeks for someone to call or email with an appointment date (the email said I would hear from someone in about 10 days or less). I finally had to call the service department myself. The person in the service department got me scheduled and was very helpful. I didn't mind waiting another month or more for the appointment, as long as it was scheduled. I love my Milgard windows and plan to order more in the near future when we remodel our basement!

The service person was polite and efficient. We were so happy to work with him. We felt safe and his knowledge and skills were also appreciated. He spoke well of Milgard as a company and represented your product and your company in an excellent fashion. I thought the response time by the company to get service initially was way too slow, that is not a reflection of your service person but rather adminstration. In addition, for the quality expensive product that Milgard is, I would have expected that the two screens that we are missing from the original order would have been delivered to us a month ago. Again, not a reflection of your service person who was excellent. We had one screen arrive damaged and we were short one screen. It would be nice if Milgard would send us those screens. At the very least if someone called us and assured us that we will actually get screens sometime in the future.

I’ve just had my windows installed. I’ll need some time to evaluate quality, reliability and performance. At this point I’m impressed with the service technician that repaired my screen door. I was a bit surprised that the model screen door I have installed (double door) has lock levers but because of style/model, the lock levers are nonfunctional. That can be confusing to a home buyer that will see the lock lever, expects it to lock but it doesn’t. Why not just put a handle on the door with no lock lever? Wouldn’t that be less expensive for you? Just seems like a lazy yet careless work around. Maybe when the tech saw the locking lever, perhaps he should have taken the initiative to swap it with a non-locking handle? The reason I’ve gone into this level of detail is because it won’t make sense to my wife whose going to try and lock it every time!

The service agent, Rob M, was excellent . The service dept. who we talked to on the phone about our problem was not helpful. I asked to talk to her supervisor and she told me that they do not give out their names or phone numbers. It was Rob who came out and realized what the problem was, and immediately took action. I explained that we purchased all our windows from Milgard and our patio door was the most expensive model they sold so why can't we get good customer service. Rob apologized and immediately ordered a new screen door. The technicians are a pleasure to work with, but your service dept could use some training in providing good customer service.

The glass change out service was done very well. The technician, however, was not equipped with a dust pan or a vacuum, so the fine clean up of broken glass was left to the customer. I am a general contractor and I have been using Milgard for about 25 years. While I appreciate the warranty on your products, I have noticed that getting it right the first time for Milgard seems to be a thing of the past. In particular, the Essence series is never without problems. After installation, it takes two to four months to correct manufacturing problems which seems to be the norm. Of four current Milgard jobs of mine, all four have had significant problems. This is bad for me, my reputation, and my profit as I have to return to the job 2,3 or 4 months later and then repaint. What's up with your quality control? Milgard seems to be going downhill instead of up. I am very frustrated.

Although the problem we had with our windows does not appear to be a product defect but rather an installation problem, I feel there could have been better communication between the tech and me. We had this problem last year, and since we are not "window specialists" we did not know what was causing the leaking. The same tech came out last year and insisted that where I told him I saw water, was impossible and steered me into believing it was merely a overflow of the track and therefore he drilled an additional weephole. This year the problem was obvious since the water was streaming down the inside of the window from the top which indicated the installation problem. I made the observation that had the tech listened to what I said last year, perhaps he could have come up with a different scenerio as to why there was water on the inside. I agree I didn't point out to him that the water was leaking from the top, but then again, it wasn't when I looked at them. As I said, we are not specialists, so how would I have known what was causing the leaking. Again, I think there should have been better communication.

Milgard is a high quality company with high quality service. The Temecula location worked tirelessly with me, for 7 weeks, to get a replacement for a broken locking mechanism on my sliding door. Having said that, I must also say that it was very frustrating waiting for a part to be manufactured at a different Milgard location and then shipped to the Milgard factory in mtemecula. Milgard doors are very well made and I expect them to last for many years. Parts for doors installed 7 to 10 years ago should be in ample supply at all Milgard factories to facilitate timely repairs. Waiting for 7 weeks for a 5 minute repair is something that shouldn’t be repeated with another customer.

Your warranty is amazing. I had one window replaced several years ago and everything went smoothly. But recently I requested service in Feb 2018 and the request was finally completed today 6-20-18. I was cancelled 3 times and had to wait 30 days for a new appointment each time. Then one time they show up with the product and not a long enough ladder. Very frustrating. However, today the team that showed up was awesome. Ricky and Hector did an amazing job. So polite, so professional and well trained. They installed 3 new windows and they look great. Thank you Milgard for finally upholding your warranty.

I am very happy with the final results of the warranty work. I had 3 windows who's seals had failed. The replacements happened over the course of 6 months. There was a mistake measuring one of the units and another unit was broken they day of the install. These delays were frustrating. However, the guys who came to the house were polite, professional, clean and apologetic. The lead time for the replacements was frustrating, as was the time to get on the calendar for install. In other words, everything took much longer than it should of because of a couple of mistakes, but the results are great and everyone was friendly along the way.

After submitting the warranty claim online, I realized after when the confirmation email was sent, it was listed at our home address and not the job location. It was not easy to get that info changed. After two calls and on hold for extended periods of time, the address was changed and a new service date set. Service tech was prompt and repaired the window fast. Very happy with the service but not happy with the process submitting the claim.

The first replacement window was too large. We had to wait an extra 2 weeks for the correct window. The Milgard customer service person I spoke with first was rude. She seemed suspicious that I was contacting you (through my local Milgard dealer) and required that I show proof of home ownership. I have never had to do that before. The two gentlemen who arrived to replace the window were courteous and efficient. The new window looks great as it is not all fogged up!

The waiting time for Milgard to respond to the initial claim was a 40 days and you never responded to the retailer at all. you used to be the best. I have had Milgard windows in three houses and 10 years ago I never waited more than a dya for a response and two to three days for a repair. Need to review your proccess some where you lost a step. Still excellent windows and compared to other brands still one of the best.

The service team replaced the rollers and track for our sliding glass door quickly and efficiently. The door works much better now. The only issue was that two of the guys refused to wear masks when coming into our house and remained outside while the third tech came inside to do the work. Milgard may wish to remind their technicians that when coming to someone's home, they need to be sensitive to their concerns.

Norm came out today to replace a window that was not sealed correctly. I had no problems getting it replaced. I am happy to know that Milgard stands behind their windows for a life time. I would have given a 5 start, but Milgard first scheduled my appt. for 5:00 - 7:00 PM. That is entirely too late for a job to be completed. I had re-arranged my schedule to meet that time. Thank goodness, Norm was ahead of schedule and was able to come much earlier in the day to replace the window. He was very professional and did a great job for me!!

Milgard honored their guarantee when one of our Milgard double pane window developed algae growth in between the panes. The wait for the replacement window was lengthy—several months which was annoying. But even more annoying was not being notified that the service could not be performed on the designated day due to a breakdown of the serviceman’s truck. So we had to wait another month. But finally we had the replacement window installed! It took less than a hour and looks great.

Great customer service & products. Our installer was fast and professional. Did a great job! Also, I greatly appreciate that Milgard stands behind the quality of their products, however we moved into a house with only 2 months left on the warranty of the windows. I feel the lifetime warranty of the products should be extended to the next owner. Or at least that an extended warranty at a reasonable price should be offered for purchase by the next owner.

It’s wonderful that Milguard gives a lifetime warranty on their windows as long as the original owner occupies the home. After eighteen years three of our windows had problems with opening upward. I went online and told Milguard of the situation , giving pertinent info, and a repairman came out and fixed the windows in no time at no charge. The only negative aspect was that it took about one and a half months before the service could be done.

I was impressed at the way they track their windows for warranty purposes. They were able to find out exactly where I purchased mine, from many years ago. What kept it from being 5 stars is that it would have been almost two months to get one of their reps to come see the broken window. That isn't exactly a great warranty. Their only other solution was to send me the parts and have me fix it myself. Fingers crossed that I can do it.

Today two service technicians strived to deliver and install two patio panels that had to be reordered because the first ones were warped. You could tell, one was the senior technician and the other was training under him. The senior displayed professional training and the trainy showed a eagerness to learn. We have been purchasing Milgard products for 18 + years and love the product. The only negative has been obtaining reliable service in the last few years. Having to wait approximately 2 months for a tech to come out and then tell me he doesn’t have parts and to reschedule for another appointment is unacceptable. I personally drove to your Simi Valley facility and picked up the replacement parts and installed them myself in less than 5 minutes. We are in the process of installing our last two windows. The house is much warmer and quiet and we love the doors . One door is separating on the inside, however, and our installer thinks we can glue it back. The whole inside of the door is pulling apart and we had to tape it together for it to close. our installer has the flu and plans to glue it back together when he returns next week. Besides this, all is beautiful. Any suggestion. Also, one of the small wheels in the screens is missing. Where can we get one?
