Systems

Every Medical Guardian medical alert system is identical in that they have a base station, a wearable emergency button, and provide two-way communication. Each system also has a backup battery that has a battery life of at least 24 hours. However, systems like the Mobile Guardian device operate on a cellular network that allows you to take the alert button and miniature base station anywhere. Systems like the basic Classic Guardian operate on a landline connection and have an alert button that can be worn as a wristband or pendant. When the emergency button is activated, you're immediately put in contact with a representative at Medical Guardian's certified monitoring center. 

Automatic Fall Detection

Every Medical Guardian alert system offers fall detection except for the Mobile Guardian system. Fall detection pendants are equipped with a sensor that is triggered any time a fall occurs, which then immediately sends a signal to Medical Guardian's monitoring center informing them of the emergency. 

No Long-Term Contracts

Members may cancel their Medical Guardian services at any point without charge. I think it's a good machine. It is quite and easy to read, and it's not big or bulky. I had one incident when I didn't understand the testing procedure and I tested the machine wrong. But, the person came on the line and told me how to go about testing it the correct way. All my questions are answered, and they have information, I am impressed with them.

My first experience was not positive. The rep on the other end of the line was extremely pushy and I told her I was just gathering information, but she did not want to hear that. My second encounter was very positive though. I'm not that pleased with the device, because I got the GPS I have to have a neck one rather than the wrist. It takes a little bit to get used to. I think I accidentally pushed the button twice and the people on the other end were very courteous, nice, and understanding.

One thing that prompted me to buy was that I am 84 years old and I passed out on a cherub. I ended up falling on the floor and I couldn't get up. It's a very good device but it's limited as far as what it can do and where. When I first bought it, they were very helpful. They walked me through what it would do and so forth.
