If you don't speak English and still need personal emergency alarm services, Bay Alarm has a unique feature: the medical alert service offers its product and services in 170 languages. The company has two emergency response call centers to provide service continuity in case one center has a power outage.

Typically companies have one call center, but with two call centers, there is a backup in case of power failure or weather issue that renders one call center inoperable, a dangerous scenario for those needing emergency assistance. The company also owns and operates from its California headquarters for Bay Alarm customer service purposes.

VOIP Compatibility

Bay Medical Alert provides an SOS smartwatch for those who want a sleek device for everday use. Bella Charms

Bella Charms are Bay Alarm Medical's personalized necklaces that clip to your Bay Alarm Medical device and cover the button with a fashionable design. There are four different charms to choose from. This is great for users who don't want to showcase the alert device and would prefer to disguise it as a nice necklace.

Extra Wall Buttons

You can purchase as many extra wall buttons as you'd like. Each wall button costs $3 extra per month. If you purchase a four pack, you save money and will pay $10 per month.

Protection Plan

This isn't an accessory or extra equipment, but Bay Alarm Medical offers a Protection Plan for $5 extra per month. This protects your medical alert equipment from power surges, voltage spikes, as well as water and flood damage. The plan includes a surge protector, one replacement of the medical alert base station or device per year, and 50 percent coverage to replace damaged accessories. Shipping fees are not included in the plan.

Vial of Life

Free with new subscriptions but $8.95 for additional kits, Bay Alarm Medical offers Vial of Life kits. These are kits that include all of your vital medical information so if there is an emergency, emergency responders will have immediate access to your medical information. The kit includes an emergency medical information kit, a plastic sleeve, and a magnetic strip. While other industry competitors offer no-cost deliveries and free equipment, Bay Alarm Medical charges for delivery and its equipment add-ons. Bay Alarm prices include a monthly fee ranging from $19.95- $34.95. The emergency button also has only a five-year warranty, so if anything goes wrong after that five years, it can get pricey. The company promises a monthly rate guarantee for continuing customers.

Bay Alarm Medical overall is a bit more expensive than its competitors. The company charges a one-time fee for the mobile device ($99) and SOS Smartwatch ($179). The Bottom Line

Bay Alarm Medical has been around for decades, offering valuable products and a medical alert service that will cover all bases for in-home medical and beyond. One thing we noticed is that you get whatever you pay for. Their products are priced separately and according to each specific feature. The monthly fee starts at $19.95 with a $49.95 activation fee.

With the exception of Bay Alarm Medical's VOIP compatibility, the medical alert system's extra features and benefits can be found at other companies for less cost, i.e. no activation fees or shipping fees. But keep in mind that the company provides award-winning quality and customer service with every medical alert system it sells. If I could give Bay Alarm Medical more than five stars, I certainly would. I bought the Bay Alarm system for my 84 year old mother. She had a slip and fall incident, and thanks to the alert system the paramedics arrived quickly and took my mother immediately to a hospital. The personnel are always extremely courteous and helpful over the phone. I have never had an unpleasant experience with them. I just talked to a customer service representative named Lauren, who was extremely knowledgeable and efficient. She was thorough and knew exactly what was necessary for my mother's needs. Her courtesy and concern were appreciated, and she made my call a pleasant experience. You can not do better than this excellent company.

Three years ago I purchased this for my 85 year old mother. She was delighted to get the unit and when she called to get installation instructions they walked her through the simple process step by step, she was so proud that she was able to set up this device and make it work properly the first time. The customer service people were kind and very generous with their time, making sure my aged mother understood how the button worked and what to expect when it was pushed. They ran a simulated test of the equipment to ensure everything was working as it should. Since I live nearly 2000 miles from mom I am comforted in the fact the she can get help right away in any emergency.

4I had read some about some nightmares about canceling which really worried me as mom passed and I didn't want to deal with another problem. However, I actually had the exact opposite experience, when I emailed them before mom's bill was due and let them know the situation. They said to avoid more charges send unit back with a COPY OF HER DEATH CERTIFICATE to their address. I had no problems with sending a funeral obituary however I think asking for a Death Certificate when I should be able to cancel for any reason is a little much. They did empathize with our loss, and told me where to send back the equipment in order to avoid further charges. While having the working unit in moms house, every time the button on moms necklace or the help button was pushed your operators were so polite and eager to get help. Thank you for providing peace of mind!

I used this company for 3 of my relatives within two years and the company had to respond in each of those cases. When I was considering this company I posed a question and after chatting on line the next time I called and spoke in person. "Bill" was super helpful -told me about the types of payment options very specifically (no refund) and we ended up billing quarterly due to that. Each time we had to utilize the emergency service they called everyone on the call list even if the first call was answered - which we liked; gave us support when we were present at the relatives home and contacted emergency services for us while on the line. When the quarterly billing was sent and my mother had passed; I contacted them because I would not be able to have the equipment physically in their hands by the time required and I was told as long as the package predated that date I would be refunded and I was. My whole experience with them was exceptional and would definitely use them again.

I have had a great experience with this company. Customer service has been excellent. Cost is very affordable at about $1.00 a day. It doesn't matter if you go with a three month, six month or one year plan. No high pressure sales pitch or activation or standard shipping fees. We paid next day air vs standard ground shipping as we needed one installed immediately. Very happy with Bay Alarm.

My father had a Bay Alarm device with fall detection for a few months (late 2018-early 2019). The device itself worked well, however he couldn't wear their magnetic clasp necklace (which holds the device) because it interfered with his pacemaker. I know this to be true because I accompanied my father to his November 2018 cardiologist pacemaker checkup, where the cardiologist performed a magnet response test on the magnetic clasp and found it put my father's pacemaker into an asynchronous mode. The asynchrony wasn't a lot, but enough to notice and cause concern with the cardiologist. Advice from the cardiologist: Bay Alarm needs to provide a nonmagnetic clasp on their necklaces if the patient has a pacemaker. As a result, we removed the Bay Alarm device from the magnetic clasped necklace and I made my father a slightly longer necklace which tied in the back, from cording purchased at the fabric store.

We got this for our Mom, who was 85 years old. The delivery was quicker than expected. The Customer Service was excellent. She used it once and they were quick to respond and the ambulance was there within minutes! Unfortunately our Mom passed away in the hospital, but the alarm worked! We returned it and it happened to be within our trial period, which we didn't know we had and we will be getting a refund. Definitely, easy to deal with and very helpful!

My Dad is 88. He fell 2 days ago in the kitchen as my sister was leaving to go pick up breakfast for him before she left for work. As she was closing the front door, she heard the representative ask my Dad if he was okay. She hurried back into the house to find him in the kitchen floor. The action was immediate from the representative or she would not have been aware of the fall until she arrived back to his house. Very happy with the service from Bay Alarm Medical. The call center always responds immediately when we test my mother's equipment. Although she has not yet needed the service I have no doubt that it would be there if she needed help. I have had excellent service. Once, my housekeeper had unplugged your equipment while she was cleaning and I was not aware of this. However Bay Alarm was. I was contacted and I assured the man at the other end of the phone that I was O.K. Then I checked the wiring and knew immediately what had happened. My mom has been a very satisfied customer of Bay Medical for two years. She is 92 years old and we got the service for her when my dad passed away and she was living alone. She has never had an emergency but she has tested the response service now and then. They recommend you test it monthly and are very prompt and gracious when responding. They always make sur you are okay. The price is better than the "advertised on TV" brands and I can't say enough good about the service.

I have only had to use bay alarm to test the system each month, but every time I hit the "emergency" button, someone answers within a few seconds and asks if everything is alright. They are always very friendly and pleasant. With Bay Alarm - I have peace of mind going off to work each day, and leaving my Mother at home for a few hours by herself. It's a safety net should anything happen as I work quite a ways away, and wouldn't be able to get home very quickly. I'm happy to know that Bay Alarm is there for my Mother should she need it. I needed to update my credit card. She was so polite and helpful. She asked how my Mom is doing which was wonderful!!! Told her we are so pleased with Bay Alarm service. We had to use it a few months ago when my Mom fell. Excellent service and I received a call saying my Mom was not responding to her phone calls. Thank you so much for the great service. My Mom has had the GPS device for less than a month. They are ok, but I have mixed feelings about their customer service. So for example, they claim a 30-day trial, and I was told it would start at activation, but in fact they start billing you when the device is received in the mail (which may not be the activation date) and they do not wait for the 30 day period to expire ... they begin billing retroactive to the device receipt date well before the 30 day trial period ends. The device itself is ok, the lanyard is bulky and confining enough so that my Mom has a tendency to take it off. I called and they told me that they just announced a newer device with a thinner lanyard, but if we wanted it ... we would have to pay a $10 shipping fee and also pay to have the old one shipped back. All this when we aren't even done with the trial period yet. The older GPS device lanyard was definitely not well designed. Just isn't customer centric treatment. As for the device, we tested it twice and it does work ... although the speaker is small enough that it's a little difficult for my Mom to hear. Still, if you get a larger device with a larger speaker, it becomes more difficult to carry and wear. From what I can tell thus far, it maintains its charge pretty well ... we have her charging it during the day and wearing it at night. In the morning, it's usually down to around 60%-70%. Mixed experience so far.

Fortunately I have not needed to use my call button for a medical issue, however I did set off the alarm by mistake while dusting the unit. I was surprised when the EMT's, police, ambulance, fire truck and my children arrived before I figured out how to dismiss the call. I have power of attorney for a homebound elderly single man. We researched medical alarm systems and chose Bay Alarm. Setting up took some effort but we were able to get the wrist button running and checked out. Now, the man has had to move to the first floor but the speaker, located on the second floor, still is able to communicate with him. He reported the watch band had stretched and a replacement arrived a few days later. We are well pleased with Bay Alert.

Each time we received a telephone call from Bay Alarm within a short period of time to check if everything was ok. Increased our sense of security as we are sure that there will be a timely response in an emergency situation as well.

I have not needed to call for help, but every time I check the system I get such reliable response that I am confident that I can live alone & be safe. The pendant is so lightweight that I don't notice that I[m wearing it & always put it on my closet door handle when I leave it at home, so that I will remember to put it back on.

What can I say, I hope I never find out if you advertising is factual. That would mean we have not needed emergency care. Money well spent , providing comfort knowing that if we need help, you will be there for us. Since you asked, I seem to have lost my key box. I have no idea when or why it disappeared. My question is what do I need to do to replace it. If the emt crew can't get in , how could they provide service.

My mom fell one night and broke her ankle. She pressed the button and immediately I received a call asking for assistance. She called an ambulance and they arrived within minutes. I received a follow up call from the rep. Very customer caring....I was impressed. Thank you!

My 91 year old mother lives with us and we use Bay Alarm Medical. They are on the ball each time her alarm goes off....whether accidental or necessary. They never seem to mind when it is an accidental. They are fast to respond, always thorough and always pleasant. We couldn't be happier with this product.

My partner and I were both registered with Bay Alarm Medical.....no extra charge for my partner. We did buy ourselves the wrist band alarm and never took them off. They are very comfortable, even in the shower and in bed. I wouldn't have any peace without them!

I recently cancelled my service and it was very smooth. I returned the equipment by mail and 3 days later they confirmed the cancellation. I had to use the service twice in this last year and can not believe how quickly some one was at my door. They were very professional and put me at ease right away. I am a 74 year old disabled woman and it isn't that easy to let several men into my apartment where I live alone. But like I said they put be at ease right away.

We received our Bay Alarm Medical equipment today. I hooked it up, and following the directions, I wanted to test it. It connected with no problem, but when the gentleman answered, the voice was so broken up that I could not understand anything he said at all. It was as if he was using a cell phone with poor service. I told him I wanted to test the equipment, and we were OK. He finally hung up, then the police and ambulance showed up at our door. This was happening while I was on the phone with a lady from Bay Alarm customer service, who was very apologetic and personable. But I had to wait for almost 5 minutes to talk to her because all personnel were busy with other customers. Again I tried to verify that the equipment was working correctly, but when I hit the "HELP" button, nobody answered for 3 minutes before I finally ended the call. Without speaking to anyone, the ambulance showed up again. Again I explained to the EMT what was happening, and that the equipment had not been properly tested yet. So as she was leaving, she said "We'll see you in about 10 minutes". At least she had a sense of humor. I tried to call customer service for help again, this time after waiting 10 minutes, I hung up. My wife is ill, and I cannot be away from her for long. So my impression so far has not been good, but I'll try again tomorrow. If I have the same problem, the equipment will go back, and I will cancel. Our daughter was thinking of getting a medical alarm system, but I will wait to see what happens with our experience before recommending this for her.

my review of the service is good but I have recently moved out of my house for a period of time and cut out my telephone service. I have chosen at this time to stop using the bay alarm system but have paid for it for a year. I may need it in a month or 2 months but not now. I have called the office spoken to a person and done everything I have been told to do but every two weeks I get a call saying I need to check my system they have evencalled one of the list of people to call. I have no way of checking and Ive told them that but they say I can only cancel service for two weeks at a time. This is definitely a pain and a nuisance and every time they call , which is automated I'm afraid they'll call rescue. Getting close to sending the whole thing back and when I need another Ill go somewhere else. Its a shame because when I was using it it was fine.

I purchased this for my mom 6 months ago, so it is still fairly new to her. Only had to test it a couple of times just to see the response time. It took @ 30 seconds to get a reply. In my opinion a fairly fast response time.
