The Good

  • Transparent Plans and Pricing
  • Extensive Optional Coverage
  • Pre-Existing Conditions Coverage
  • Choose Your Own Service Provider

Transparent Plans and Pricing

Super has three plans: Secure, Signature, and Lux. All three provide a broad range of coverage for several appliances and systems.

Secure

The Secure plan offers a lot for its $64 per month price tag. You can expect a Secure plan to cover these appliances, systems, and services:

Appliances

  • Dishwasher
  • Range/oven/stove
  • Built-in microwave
  • Garbage disposal
  • Trash compactor
  • Range exhaust fan
  • Refrigerator
  • Ice maker
  • Clothes Washer
  • Dryer

Systems

  • Air conditioning
  • Heating system
  • Water heater
  • Ductwork
  • Interior plumbing
  • Interior electrical
  • Ceiling fans
  • Central vacuum
  • Garage door opener
  • Sprinklers

Services

  • Re-key service
  • Air conditioning and heating tune-up
  • Lawn fertilization
  • Lawn pre-emergent
  • Weed killing
  • Carpet cleaning
  • Window cleaning
  • Pest control
  • Termite treatment
  • Ceiling fan and light installation
  • Dryer vent cleaning

Signature

A customer of the Signature plan receives some additional coverage for $75 per month. In addition to all of the features of the Secure plan, the Signature plan adds these items for the cost:

  • Additional washer and dryer
  • Additional refrigerator
  • It’s Covered Upgrade — a service that covers several appliance accessories, such as smoke detectors, dishwasher baskets, toilets, and so on

Lux

The Lux warranty plan is $119 per month. In addition to the coverage from the Secure and SIgnature plans, it contains several extra features:

  • Brand-for-Brand Appliance Upgrade
  • Outdoor plumbing
  • Smart home devices
  • Warming and cooling drawers
  • Gas fireplaces and fire pits
  • Landscape lighting
  • Higher coverage limits

Extensive Optional Coverage

If you want a feature from an upgraded plan, but you don’t need everything the warranty covers for the added monthly fee, you can choose optional coverage. You can choose to pay a little more to add these items and features:

  • Washer and dryer
  • Refrigerator
  • Ice maker
  • It’s Covered Upgrade
  • Brand-for-Brand Appliance Upgrade
  • Outdoor plumbing
  • Smart home devices
  • HVAC equipment incompatibility coverage
  • Additional refrigeration units
  • Built-in pool/spa
  • Saltwater pool/spa
  • Additional pool pumps
  • Water softener
  • Guest house
  • Septic system
  • Well pump

Many warranty providers don’t give these a la carte options; many providers give you less for a basic coverage plan. Super Home Warranty appears to be about adding value to customer plans.

Pre-Existing Conditions Coverage

Many warranty providers will not cover known or unknown pre-existing conditions, meaning if your appliance was faulty before signing the contract for a plan, the appliance’s condition won’t be covered. Many home warranty companies will blame an unknown pre-existing condition for a problem and refuse to cover it.

Thankfully, Super Home Warranty will cover any unknown pre-existing conditions. If you opt for a home inspection to document any known issues, the coverage of unknown conditions can be a great benefit you won’t find with many other competitors.

Choose Your Own Service Provider

Super Home Warranty allows customers to choose their own technician or use one of Super’s selected service providers. Reviewers in the home warranty category sometimes complain that the technicians their warranty provider contracts are not helpful or experienced, so this may resolve the issue for customers who’d prefer to do their own homework on who’d they’d like as a technician.

The Bad

  • One-Year Contract for Homebuyers
  • Only Available in Select Locations
  • Service Fee
  • No 24/7 Service Option

One-Year Contract for Homebuyers

Homebuyers can expect a one-year contract when they choose a Super home warranty. However, if a customer doesn’t like a plan, he or she can cancel with thirty days’ notice and receive a prorated refund.

Only Available in Select Locations

Super Home Warranty covers several majors cities such as Austin, Dallas, Houston, Baltimore, Chicago, and Phoenix, but it’s not available everywhere.

Warranty companies need time to expand their reach nationwide, so it’s likely that Super will grow with time.

Service Fee

Super Home Warranty’s service fee is $75, which is on the higher end for the industry. All maintenance and repair visits from a technician will have this co-pay.

Service visits on the lower end are usually $50, but keep in mind that even a $75 service fee from a home warranty provider is cheaper than many technician visits without warranty coverage.

No 24/7 Service Option

Super doesn’t allow you 24/7 claims processing. Many other competitors allow you to file a claim day or night, and some even have on-call technicians available weekends and holidays. If something breaks after hours, Super won’t be able to help you for that time frame.

The Bottom Line

Super Home Warranty is building a more tech-savvy home warranty option for customers through online chat, a routine maintenance scheduler, and a convenient online hub. Its plans offer an impressive list of covered items, and the coverage for unknown pre-existing conditions is a benefit many other home warranty companies don’t provide.

However, Super is a growing company that only serves a handful of states, so time will tell if it becomes a trusted provider within the industry. Customers might be more comfortable choosing a company that has decades in the industry and offers 24/7 help.
