The Good

  • Low Monthly Monitoring
  • Full Home Security Suite
  • Smart Home Integration

Low Monthly Monitoring

DFW Security prides itself on its low monthly monitoring options. The company’s monitoring systems are compatible with the following home security equipment providers:

  • DSC
  • Ademco
  • Honeywell
  • Qolsys
  • 2GIG

The company also provides the following monitoring options for its customers (prices based on a 36-month contract):

Standard Landline Monitoring: $12.95 per Month

As DFW Security’s most affordable option, standard landline monitoring is also compatible with some of the most popular existing systems available. DFW Security’s licensed home security technicians can easily switch an existing system’s monitoring services in a matter of a couple of hours. Standard landline monitoring comes with a one-time programming fee of $64.

Advanced Wireless Monitoring: $15.95 per Month

DFW Security’s advanced cellular plan negates the need for a landline, and allows customers to monitor their home security system via a wireless cellular network. While slightly more expensive than traditional landline monitoring, wireless monitoring is more secure, and can maintain communication even if phone lines are cut, a cell tower goes down, or internet service is interrupted. Customers will also pay $199 for the cellular communicator.

SMART Home Security: $19.95–$29.99 per Month

The third monitoring option allows customers to integrate their home security alarm system with smart home technology, which operates over a closed wireless network that protects your home even in the event of a power outage. Customers will also need to pay up to $499 in equipment.

Full Home Security Suite

DFW Security’s SMART home security package comes with a full suite of home security equipment:

7” Color Touchscreen SMART Hub

  • Snapshot camera built-in
  • Glassbreak detector built-in
  • Bluetooth touchless disarming
  • Crash and smash protection
  • Two-way voice communication
  • Home automation integration

Mobile App

The user-friendly mobile app allows customers to arm and disarm their systems remotely, receive notifications and mobile alerts, geo-based location reminders, and 24/7 alarm monitoring.

Security Equipment Packages

DFW Security offers three basic home security packages:

  • New Systems — 1 motion detector, plus 3 door and window sensors
  • Existing System Upgrade — 2 translators
  • Prewired for System — 1 translator, plus up to 20 prewired openings

Each of these packages come with free professional installation; but for an additional $10 per month, customers could upgrade to the Platinum Service Plan, which exempts them from paying for the travel, parts, or labor.

Security Cameras

The home security provider offers customers a full array of security camera options:

  • Indoor Camera
  • Outdoor Camera
  • Infrared Night Vision Camera
  • Doorbell Camera/Video Doorbell
  • Image Sensor
  • Panel Camera

Camera options also come with the following capabilities:

  • Video Alerts — smart push notifications with video clip whenever the system is triggered
  • Live Streaming — live feed of multiple locations viewable from smartphone, desktop, or tablet
  • Recording Options — smart recording for preset events or continuous recording for 24/7 video surveillance (SVR required)
  • Video Storage — secure cloud storage and easily navigable video library

Smart Home Integration

DFW Security also integrates with smart home technology, allowing homeowners full control over the various security and energy management features of their home:

  • Smart Security Hub — control all home automation features from one convenient location; arm and disarm security, monitor energy management, etc.
  • Smart Lock — control locks through keyless entry, remote control, and real-time notifications and alerts
  • Smart Thermostat — lower your monthly energy bill through adaptive smart thermostats accessible from any mobile device
  • Smart Garage Door — upgrade most existing garage doors openers to smart openers, monitored and control via the mobile app
  • Smart Lights — energy-efficient bulbs, smart plugs, and programmable lighting schedules allow customers to save electricity and protect the home from would-be intruders while they’re away

The Bad

  • Limited Availability
  • Contract Required

Limited Availability

As the name suggests, DFW Security is only available to residents and business owners living and working in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.

Contract Required

As should be expected with most professionally monitored, professionally installed home security systems, DFW Security’s systems require a three-year contract minimum; however, this statement is based on limited information, and customers may need to conduct additional research to learn more about DFW Security’s contract options and terms.

The Bottom Line

For customers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, DFW Security offers a solid home security system. The company’s offers come with three monitoring options, smart home integration, and a full suite of home security equipment including security cameras, a dynamic mobile app, a smart security hub, door and window sensors, and smart locks. As little information regarding contracts is currently available on DFW Security’s site, customers will need to conduct further inquiries about terms prior to signing a contract.
