24/7 Monitoring

WISE uses a 24/7 monitoring center so you can be protected no matter what. Many home security companies offer 24/7 monitoring because it’s important that you can reach a representative on holidays, weekends, or in the middle of the night.

Move Your Contract

If you’re moving within WISE’s service area, the company offers a free move guarantee so you can transfer the system to your new home. Many home security companies penalize movers with substantial cancellation fees, so this option will save you money if you have to relocate.

If you’re moving out of WISE’s service area, you can transfer your agreement to the next resident. You can contact customer service if you have other circumstances, such as a military deployment.

No Upfront Costs

WISE costs nothing upfront. Some home security companies encourage you to buy equipment outright, particularly DIY companies. However, this can deny you the chance to test your products and see if they’re a fit for your home.

With WISE, you can customize your home security and automation products as you go without paying upfront for the equipment.

The Bad

  • Limited Availability
  • Time in Business
  • Third-Party Equipment
  • Limited Information

Limited Availability

Like most home security companies, WISE is only available in certain states:

  • Oregon
  • Idaho
  • California
  • Nevada
  • Utah
  • Arizona
  • Colorado
  • Texas
  • Georgia

The service also plans to expand to Arkansas soon.

Time in Business

WISE Home Solutions was founded in 2016. Many competitors have been in the business for decades. You may prefer to work with a company that has a long-term track record of success.

However, WISE’s age also gives it an edge; the company won’t abide by outdated contract terms and use equipment that’s over a decade old, as some competitors do.

Third-Party Equipment

WISE does not manufacture its own equipment. This is common for many home security companies, particularly new ones. However, its products are popular industry choices that many customers love, such as the Ring doorbell and Nest thermostat.

Limited Information

WISE doesn’t offer plan pricing upfront. This can be a disadvantage when competing with companies that have monthly fees and equipment costs advertised online.

Lacking online prices isn’t always a bad thing; most home security companies that do this offer tailored solutions for customers, and so it wouldn’t make sense to have one-size-fits-all pricing.

The Bottom Line

WISE has a nice lineup of products, and we like that they have no upfront costs. The company also guarantees that a customer’s rates won’t rise for the duration of their contract; this level of transparency is appreciated. If you like these terms, WISE may be for you.

However, you may be worried that WISE hasn’t been in business long and doesn’t advertise its prices. Be sure to research the best home security companies before making your selection.

We had Wise for 4 plus years. The install was great. I loved the app to control the temperature in the house. Unfortunately, we had some sensors that quit working and I called to get them replaced. I was told there would be a $70 fee for a technician, plus a fee to replace the broken sensors. I asked them if they would consider dropping the fees because I had been a customer for 4+ years and I had been paying way past my contract. Unfortunately, they declined so I cancelled my relationship with them. I also cancelled 3 days after the billing cycle and asked for a refund or to at least to continue using the service until the next billing cycle and I was denied. I also wish I wouldn't have purchased their thermostats because now I don't have a working app! Something to think about! Not impressed! It's too bad when you actually need to use a service you have paid over $2,500 for, they hang you out to dry!
