SimpliSafe is a do-it-yourself security provider offering basic security features, including burglary alarms, fire detectors, carbon monoxide sensors, freeze sensors, and flood sensors. SimpliSafe equipment can be ordered online with packages ranging from $229 to $489. You can usually find seasonal promotions that will lower the overall cost of the system. SimpliSafe does not offer any equipment for lease.

SimpliSafe offers one of the lowest monthly monitoring fees in the industry, with monthly fees starting at $17.99 per month. The company uses cellular signal monitoring through COPS Monitoring Service, a CSAA-certified central monitoring station.

SimpliSafe is one of the only home security providers that does not attach a contract to any of its equipment.

The Good

  • Low Monthly Fees
  • Industry Innovations
  • No Contract or Moving Fees
  • 60-Day Money-Back Guarantee
  • Separate Devices for "Brain" and Keypad
  • 100% Wireless Equipment
  • Free and Easy Installation Process
  • Customizable Security Systems

Low Monthly Fees

SimpliSafe's low monthly fees and absence of a contract are clear standouts in the home security industry. The company's top monitoring package, the Interactive Plan, is priced at $27.99, far below most professional security providers' most affordable option.

The Interactive Plan includes around-the-clock professional monitoring, lifetime equipment warranty, flood and temperature monitoring, professional verification of alarm triggers, emergency dispatch, and unlimited camera recording for up to 10 cameras. Customers who subscribe to the interactive monitoring plan will also 10 percent off future add-on devices.

The most typical SimpliSafe monitoring package is standard monitoring at $17.99 per month. This is similar to the Interactive Plan but does not include unlimited camera recordings, video verification, hazard monitoring, and add-on discounts. The standard plan includes a one-year equipment warranty.

Customers can also choose a self-monitoring option that includes a live view and unlimited recordings for up to five cameras for $9.99 per month. This is a unique offering from SimpliSafe. Most home security companies require that the customer purchase a monthly professional monitoring plan.

Industry Innovations

SimpliSafe is a pioneer in offering do-it-yourself home security systems. SimpliSafe recently redesigned its system to look more sleek and attractive. Sensors including motion detectors, window sensors, door sensors, security cameras, and even the wireless keypad control panel have a modern and user-friendly interface.

You can also arm and disarm your alarm system through the SimpliSafe app on your mobile phone, along with viewing Simplisafe camera footage.

No Contract or Moving Fees

Something truly remarkable about SimpliSafe's price structure is that it does not attach contracts to its equipment; all customers pay on a month-to-month basis and can cancel at any time without penalty. Basically, no long-term contracts.

Moving your alarm system is simple and easy. If you plan to move with your equipment, unplug all your devices and disarm your system. Remove all the adhesive strips from your walls. You can also pause service if you have time between homes where you don’t plan on using your security system.

Once you get to your new home, be sure to update your address in the SimpliSafe mobile app so the monitoring center knows where you are located.

You can also leave your system for the new residents. The new owners will just need to create an account to activate their one service. Just be sure to cancel your current subscription at your old address.

60-Day Money-Back Guarantee

In addition, SimpliSafe customers have 60 days to try out equipment and if unsatisfied, can return it to SimpliSafe for a full refund plus return shipping costs. As 30 days is considered a great guarantee in this industry, a 60-day guarantee truly stands out.

Separate Devices for "Brain" and Keypad

For an added layer of safety, the "brain" of SimpliSafe's system is located in a device separate from the keypad. If burglars destroy the beeping keypad, the brain will quietly alert the monitoring center.

100% Wireless Equipment

Because the SimpliSafe system is 100 percent wireless, no hard wiring or drilling is required. This is an appealing feature for renters and apartment owners, and also contributes to the aforementioned lack of moving fees.

Free and Easy Installation Process

The free and easy installation process can also be completed without assistance and, in most cases, takes less than 15 minutes. Once the system and sensors are in place, an alarm will sound whenever the control panel is armed and sensors detect burglars breaking in.

Customizable Security Systems

SimpliSafe's equipment and monitoring services can be purchased on its website, eliminating the need to interact with often-pushy security salesmen. All packages come with a base station and keypad. Based on the size of your home and your desired level of security, you can then choose to add on the following devices:

  • Entry sensors — Sensors used to protect ground floor doors and windows.
  • Motion sensor — Detects motion in an entire room or hallway. Works great for rooms with more than three or more windows.
  • Wireless outdoor camera — Video surveillance that works night or day to alert you when visitors approach your driveway or property.
  • Indoor camera — Monitor your home with indoor cameras that sends an alert when the camera detects motion.
  • Glassbreak sensor — This device sets off an alarm if it picks up the sound of a smashed window.
  • Panic button — Contact the monitoring center in the case of an emergency with just a press of the panic button.
  • Smoke detector — The smoke detector triggers system sirens if it detects smoke or fire.
  • Temperature sensor — This sensor triggers if your home temperature drops below 41 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Water sensor — The water sensor detects the beginning of a leak or flood to protect against severe water damage.
  • Key fob — This fob is used to arm and disarm your alarm system at the touch of a button.
  • Extra 105dB siren — You can purchase an additional siren to place inside or outside the house.

The Bad

  • Upfront Equipment Costs
  • Basic Security Equipment
  • 3-Year Warranty

Upfront Equipment Costs

As with most do-it-yourself solutions, SimpliSafe requires consumers to buy equipment upfront. This can cost anywhere from $229 to $489. Fortunately, SimpliSafe offers five package options to fit a variety of budgets and needs.

Also important to note: you own this equipment forever after purchasing. Regardless, this price amounts to years of monitoring service from other top-rated alarm companies.

Basic Security Equipment

SimpliSafe equipment is extremely basic in both looks and functionality. The company doesn't offer touchscreen equipment or basic home automation services such as remote door locks, smart lighting/appliances, smart temperature control, and so on.

Video surveillance is available but requires a Wi-Fi connection. Despite SimpliSafe's sleek new design and mobile app interface, the company needs to catch up to home automation trends.

3-Year Warranty

With SimpliSafe, you're getting basic, no-bells-and-whistles security equipment. And it's all covered with a three-year warranty, as opposed to the lifetime warranty many other providers offer. Most security systems from other companies will offer a lifetime warranty, so it's unfortunate to see SimpliSafe limiting their security systems to only three years.

The Bottom Line

If you're looking for a basic do-it-yourself security option for a reasonable price, or if you're a renter who doesn't want to hardwire a security system or pay a fee each time you move, SimpliSafe is a viable option.

But if you're looking for cutting-edge technology and want to turn your house into a "smart home," SimpliSafe is not the answer. Plenty of other alarm companies offer those services but expect them with higher prices and strict long-term contracts. Read Simplisafe reviews below before making your final decision.

We’ve been a Simplisafe customer since Oct 2022. We chose it for our business mainly because it was affordable and seemed to have good reviews. The equipment itself is pretty shotty. I’d say once a week I get a notification that one of the sensors is offline and not working. However this past weekend takes the icing on the cake. We had a break in, they broke out a window in our garage door roll gate. Because no doors were opened the alarm wasn’t triggered. The motion sensor that the people would have walked passed multiple times just didn’t sense any motion. We have two cameras which are both suppose to be activated with motion while in away mode, neither of them worked. So essentially 3 pieces of equipment which would have been incredibly useful didn’t work. When I called the customer service to ask WTF happened I spent two hours on the phone with them “trouble shooting” for them to tell me that the cameras and motion sensor didn’t work. Duh, I already told you this, it was literally the reason I called. All of the money in my business was stolen and I have nothing on tape. They’re sending me out new equipment, they didn’t offer any free service at all which was annoying because what am I paying monthly for if the entire reason is to secure my business which their equipment didn’t do. Debating what to do now.

My daughter's car was vandalized stuff was stolen out of my Jeep and there was a physical altercation in front of my house and none of this was picked up by the camera which has all of that according to the app it should be in their zone people walk in front of my house doesn't pick it up I'm in the process of finding a new security system because this is absolutely ridiculous. Do not purchase this system if you plan on using it to protect your outside area.

We purchased our system as a Christmas gift. I called today to add the 4.99/ month service to our outdoor camera that allows you to record. The rep explained they no longer offer that plan the only option is their 9.99/ month plan. I told them the lower plan is still on their website. The rep said they discontinued that plan back in August. So it’s January now and they still advertise it on their site. She said she would message her supervisor and then we sat there for 10 minutes waiting for a reply. Finally I asked to speak with the supervisor (Angie) and she said yes, but it could be a few minutes. 10 minutes later Angie got on the line, repeated everything the rep had said and apologized for the bad info on their site. She offered 4 months free then the 9.99/ month plan would be in effect. We are returning our system for a full refund. Very disappointed in this company. The outdoor camera would lose connection frequently.

I’ve had Simply Safe for years, they continue to update their system. I don’t know why they can’t give you one that will last for longer than 12 months. But the last update they sent me the new control base. Called in to get it set up And the girl set up my bass control and my two keypads but never set up any of my contacts. So all my door and window contacts, motion sensors glass break sensors we’re not connected to my system three weeks after doing this I was broke into the cops never showed up. I have been calling Simply Safe for three months trying to get somebody to talk to me about this issue they all tell me they’re very sorry they can’t believe it happened they all promise me a supervisor will call me back and nobody ever does. This morning I was on the phone forever an hour waiting for a supervisor to get online with me. They never did. They text the sales rep back-and-forth but they will never ever talk to you they will never ever call you back they will never make a wrong right. It is a cheap system and it is a cheap system for a reason. Unless you’re willing to check everything every single day you do not know if you’re even armed or alarm even if it says armed. Having an armed alarm system with no contacts is nothing but a waste of money. Not to mention the $3000 worth of stuff that I had stolen from me and the damages that were done

I have simplisafe installed in my business in, Magna Utah for the last two years. It is Utah Crystal Sanctuary, we have hundreds of quartz crystals from a few ounces to 50+ pounds, gemstones and gifts. March 18, 2020 7:09 am, we had a 5.7 Earth Quake, it destroyed the inside of my building and almost everything in it. No one was there at the time, alarm had been set the night before. We had to disarm when we got there. Most every thing had crashed to the floor. The damage was bad. Here's the weird part, the alarm had NOT been tripped. If an Earth Quake and all the damage did not set the alarm off, what defense do I have from a burglar. I don't feel secure at all.

Worst system and customer service experience. On 2/20/2020 we received a phone call from Simplisafe and complete silence on their end. After 30 secs or so a lady representative said "Hello" and immediately hung up on me. Before I could return a call Simplisafe called back. Again I received no answer for a good 20 secs or so, finally a lady said "hello" and put me on hold. While on hold I received another call from Simplisafe. I picked up the phone call and received no response. All in total I received 11 phone calls within 28mins with no response on their end and 11, 3 min voicemails. After calling back and finally speaking with a floor manage they had no answer for the calls I was receiving. I informed the floor manager I would like to cancel my service in which he did right away. Simplisafe has displayed they could care less about your worries of a home burglary or concerns with they systems. The floor supervisor Robert best explanation is to go to simplisafe.com and submit an email of my concern. Please avoid simplisafe and pay a little more to have peace of mind for your home and family.

I think SimpliSafe is a scam. We tried it for about 6 months and had trouble with it from day 2. The simple camera on the door bell never worked correctly and when called they continued to tell me to remove the door bell button and reset it. After a couple of months, and the Extreme trying of my patience, I asked when I was on a trip was I suppose to return home and reset the door bell. The cameras would not monitor correctly . What an absolute mess of a system. My last call to the company was to cancel my contract and the receptionist told me he felt he would not be able to talk be out of staying on line. He went on to say the guarantee had expired so the equipment I had paid for was mine and there would be no guarantee. I advised I had problems since I had the system at which time he disclosed "Sorry but that doesn't matter. We invested hundreds of dollars for absolutely nothing and to be insulted. I had listened to Sean Hannity's commercials on how great this product... well no more listening to his commercials. Another thing to note I was advised that the insurance on my home would be less. When we checked into it we would save a whopping $10.00 a year WOW!! SimiliSafe is a scam. I learned later that the signal they use can be jammed with a $27.00 electronic push button sold on Amazon. If I could I would rate this company well below a 1.

Simplisafe monitoring will not send the police unless they have a visual confirmation with a camera. We had a previous attempted break in so we installed simplisafe thinking it would notify police as it says it will on their site. Just got a call today from Securitas who simplisafe has partnered with to inform us there is an intruder alert. He said there was motion detected in my bedroom from a motion detector. No one was home and we had a previous attempted break-in so I asked him to notify the police. He refused saying he could not see an intruder in the cameras. That is idiotic on so many levels. 1. Why bother calling me if he wasn't prepared to take action? 2. All cameras are downstairs. The alert came from my upstairs bedroom where there is no camera, only a motion detector. He said if he couldn't see an intruder in the downstairs cameras so he didn't see the need to call the police. I tried to explain that the intruders may never come downstairs in front of the cameras- but he wouldn't budge. 3. He said he was connecting me to a supervisor - but you know what he really did - no one picked up the phone. 3. So simplisafe requires its customers to have a camera in every room otherwise the police will not be notified without a visual confirmation? So what's the point of all the other detectors - entry and motion and glass break? Stupid policy. I recorded the frustrating call I had with the monitoring guy on my phone and am looking for where I should upload it. Please suggest. Simplisafe is a garbage company for not letting its customers know before hand that it will not notify police without a visual confirmation with a simplicam. How can these guys save us from crooks if they're crooks themselves? Please share this so others are informed of the truth. Thanks and namaste

Do not, DO NOT buy any products from Simplisafe. I have never had a worse customer service experience than I have had with them. I purchased a system from their website on 11/23/19 and the next day I was gifted a different system. So the day it arrived (12/6) I began the process of trying to return it (they claim to have a 60 day return policy). It took four attempts to contact them to get them to even acknowledge me. After receiving my return label I returned the system on 12/16/19 (tracking shows it was delivered). Since then I have not received a refund and I’ve made 6 separate attempts to get an update on the return. I finally received an email saying they had received the package and were in the process of processing the return. The next day I got a different email from a different representative saying my package was still on route to them and once they received it I would be refunded. It has been OVER A MONTH since I returned the package and still no refund and they are ignoring me. Protect. Yourself. From. These. Scam. Artists.

Horrible customer service. Tried to cancel on several occasions,( first time was Dec 16, 2019 ) its usually an hour wait or more. Have only gotten through 2 times , the first time I talked to someone , they took all my information and after telling them I wanted to cancel, they hung up on me. The second time I got through ( 72 min on hold ) the line just went dead when someone answered. They know why you are calling because you have to press the # 3 to put you through to cancel . The other 6 times I called them I hung up after waiting over 45 min. I dont have that kind of time to sit and wait on the phone. Stil trying to cancel as of today, Jan 13, 2020 .. Also emailed them and they told me to call them , really ?

Has to be one of the worst products I have ever purchased. It arrived already missing the panic buttons(back ordered). They never informed me of when I might expect those. Unpacked and attempted to install, 4 of the 6 window/door sensors had low battery warnings. One of two motion detectors didn't work at all. Siren is totally dead, most likely dead batteries also. Now comes the fun part, I attempted to call SimpliSafe. 2 hours on hold. Finally spoke to someone who's education level must have been non-existent. I frankly couldn't understand what she was saying. They offered to send me 2 sensors. Really? How does that help that 4 don't work, motion detector doesn't work and neither does the siren. Not to mention the panic buttons I never received. After demanding over and over that I want to send the system back they finally agreed. They say they are mailing it to me, really? They don't have the ability to email it. By far one of the top two horrible companies.

Horrible system. Can't believe they keep getting good reviews. Easy to set up but problems almost every day. These sites keep stating pets don't set off motion detectors. Wanna bet? 8 pound kitty kept setting it off even when we followed advice and moved them up the wall and turned them over pointing up. Now we're set if Spider Man beaks in and crawls across the ceiling! Police threatened to start charging for responding to false alarms. One problem after another. Lost WiFi signal over and over. Moved base all over the house. Had to get replacements for base, entry sensors, siren, batteries. All this in first 2 months! Tech support is the WORST! Takes 30 min's average on hold. Lost track of the hours we spent on the phone due to this junk. Never knew if we were protected when we went to sleep or too work. Sending back for refund.

Useless. I had Vivint and it worked perfectly but was expensive so I tried Simplisafe, Setup ws a nightmare and when I called support after 21 minutes I talked with a customer service person. First thing she wanted to talk about was upgrading my system not discussing my problem. I told her I was trying the system before I upgraded. She continued to ask me about upgrading while trying to fix my problem. We never completely fixed the problem. I boxed up everything and set it back for a refund. I have yet to get the refund. This product is a great idea with very poor implementation. I am back at Vivint and know my house is safe again.

Zero stars would be more appropriate. After 5 false alarms and many other problems, I’ve had it with SimpliSafe; it’s tome to tell the world what a failure SimpliSafe is, cancel my service, and send the system-crap back for a refund. 1) it’s so simple that it is not secure or safe: after $800 worth of sensors, 5 don’t work: two of which keep giving us false alarms (the police no longer go to the house to check because SimpliSafe has cried wolf too many times). 2) setup forces users to use preselected names for sensors (e.g., patio door when we don’t have a patio and we already used back Door for the other door on our house) and provides no correlation between serial numbers and setup names ... makes it impossible to know which sensor(s) are being triggered. 3) if you don’t have internet or WiFi, they “say” it will work using a cell signal; but none of their customer service people know that your system is a cell-signal system ... they talk down to you like you are required to have internet and WiFi. 4) if you want two or more people to be able to monitor/arm/disarm the system, you have to share the same email and password (which is inherently insecure ... truly secure systems require unique, secret, private identity to be authenticated which means NO SHARED PASSWORDS can be allowed ... if a couple gets a divorce, the one kicked out of the house can legitimately wreak havoc in the other). 5) the base station firmware updates... remember the marketing people at SimpliSafe swore we could use the system without internet or WiFi ... actually, when our base station firmware was not compatible with the cell tower server, most of the SimpliSafe tech support was clueless that it was failing to connect because the firmware update was not loaded... after they figured that out, they shipped us a replacement base station assuming it would have updated firmware ... ... ... you guessed it, they don’t update firmware before shipping inventory from their warehouse ... after getting the second basestation (now 2 with the wrong firmware), I had to use the data plan on my cell phone to create a WiFi hotspot to download the firmware update ... jeez, why pay SimpliSafe when I’m working harder than they are? 6) now they have put more money in their founder’s pocket by subcontracting our the monitoring-call Service; since the monitoring call service toll free number was not on my contact for SimpliSafe, it looked like a scam/hacker/marketing call so I did not answer it (two weeks later they sent an email out telling people about the new number ... however, since the monitoring/call service does not have access to see what sensor(s) in your system is(are) triggered when the system alerts, they are useless to help decide if the police should be called... the SimpliSafe operations staff has been severely reduced, so there is now an hour wait to get someone online to diagnose if it’s an alert from one sensor gone bad (ie, a false alarm) or if many sensors are seeing a burglar go through your house and steal you blind. SimpliSafe might have been a good idea by a college student wanting security for his dorm room, but he has proven to be shallow and incompetent at maturing the idea into a real security solution.

SimpliSafe Home Security review On 7/31/2018 I upgraded an existing system we had from SimpliSafe, from a solicitation to upgrade for a reduced price by returning our old system. We purchased a camera as part of the package but could not get it to work. The cameras did not work and we switched out at least 5 of them. Two worked for about a week and then went off line and could not be reconnected. I have spent at least at least 648 minutes (which is 10.8 HOURS) over a minimum of 28 phone calls to rectify the situation. It took an act of congress to receive $59.40 refund for the non-functioning camera. I finally became so frustrated I cancelled both our personal and business accounts. We asked for a refund on the system, Simplisafe refused stating the order was over 60 days. This was over sixty days because we kept trying to get the camera to work and Simplisafe continued to insist we replace the camera. I spent hours trying to get this to work from August through the end of November and then waited months to receive the refund after many LONG phone calls being told it was being refunded and then excuse after excuse of why it had not been refunded. I would have given up trying to get the $59.40 back but it is the principal. How many people have the stolen money from? People who just give up because you really have little reasonable options. I want to return the system and receive a full refund.

I bought into the system three years ago. Expanded it over the house. It was simple to set up and easy to operate. When I had a minor clitch, I could call customer service and get it solved. Then one day the entire system went down. Called customer service, every thing we tried would not bring it up. I kept saying it was the keypad, but Simple Safe tech on telephone kept saying it was not. I finally got frustrated after three weeks of nothing being done, canceled my subscription, and gave all the sensors, smoke alarm, telephone cone away to someone who had the service. Weeks later, he told me the key pad was no good and that was the problem. I went with ADT.

Customer service after you’re a “customer” is a joke! I don’t know if they are really even monitoring my system. My adult children have come over while I’m not home (helping with animals or yard chores) and have set it off, forgot the code, called me to get it in order to turn off the alarm. My settings are set to be called immediately but I have not once received a call, no police, nothing!! You have to wait 40+ mins to speak to someone and that’s IF they’re open. Yes, the alarm company actually closes!! Put your money elsewhere!! Their “system” is a loud noise that hopefully makes intruders leave.

I picked up their service a week ago, and they suck! Phone hold times pushing 40 minutes; an ALARM COMPANY that CLOSES THEIR OFFICE AT NIGHT. Sold me an alarm system for about $600, then THE NEXT DAY started advertising brand new, updated equipment (their "holiday sale" was obviously a fire sale to shift their outdated stock onto unsuspecting customers). The base station they sent had a broken cell circuit board, and they MAILED ME A CIRCUIT BOARD TO INSTALL MYSELF. I had to wait 40 minutes on hold to figure out why the new board didn't have a SIM card like the old one did (are paper instructions that expensive?). Oh, and you can't find info on your equipment on their site. Just photos and prices. My 7 POUND CAT set off their "pet friendly" motion sensor, and their advice? "Install it upside down" (another 40 minute told to get that valuable nugget). Pretty sure their glass break detectors are fake, since I can't get one to go off in testing. They ask you to LEAVE A MESSAGE every 45 seconds that you're on hold, and then don't return your calls (for at least five days, so far), or emails. Their customer service reps call the company "SimpleSafe" because they're apparently temps who have no idea what they're doing or who they're working for. They don't even allow customers to post on their Facebook page. ADT was expensive at my old place, but they actually had customer support and working hardware.

20180121 I’m updating my review. My experience now is significantly better than it was. I reached a supervisor named Kathy. 1- Kath was very responsive, and followed through on her word to connect with me to solve a technical problem I had setting up the camera. She is great. 2- Thanks to Kathy, the cameras are successfully set up and work now. Because I was on the verge of sending the equipment back, Kathy worked with me to give me some more time for the guarantee - as the cameras hadn’t been set-up so during this time period. Additionally, I got a call from a person named Adam and I asked if I could have his info in case I needed it; he followed up with an e-mail with his contact info. That Simplisafe did the above means to me that want to work me, so I take that as a good thing. 20180112 I’ve had them for 6 weeks. Their customer service is awful. Just to be clear, AWFUL. I had no problem with the simple door/window contacts, but the camera (I have two) does not work. I have called customer service. Multiple times. Mostly they are not available. They big time SUCK. It’s clear (at least to me) they just do not care. I am returning all the equipment and contacting my credit card company to make sure I get a refund.

The base unit couldn't connect to the dispatch center upon installation. I kept getting robot emails telling me to connect. I called the help center every day for 4 days and left messages about this common issue and they didn't call back. On the 5th day I left messages and emails stating I wanted a refund (Love it or send it back for 60 days). Still no response. I filed a complaint with PayPal stating I wanted a refund and SimplySafe wasn't responding. Later that evening, 6:32PM, the SimplySafe help center FINALLY called. I told them they were too late and I wanted a refund and they still haven't furnished the return process info. Paid system cost: $390.59.

Easy to install but did not work. First customer service advised me the tower was not in the right place as they kept losing connection. Moved it several times and reset each time but to no avail. They finally sent me out a new chip to install in the tower. Once that was taken care of the alarm would not go off when we opened the door or when we opened the door and the alarm did go off we did not receive a call advising us the alarm had sounded. I received two touch pads for my home. One would say the alarm was set the other would say it was not set. Customer service had me take both touch pads off the wall and set them next to each other and reset. Put them back on the wall and again they would not read the same. After multiple resets I advised them we were sending all back as my 60 days was about up and they would not extend. If someone breaks into your home and they break the tower withing 60 seconds ( that is called a smash and grab by the way) Simpli-Safe will ignore it as they did when we set our alarm off accidentally. Reason being it stopped within 60 seconds. And your tower is the alarm so it leads someone right to itself.

The SimpliSafe system is a fraud the reason for that is because agents and TL will stay one thing and then when customers call in and speak with a different agent they are told information that is not correct or calls will hang up . Not all the agents are bad but they do not do there job right at all . I had spoken to an agent that no longer works there due to her call avoiding and i think all the agents there call avoid not to work

Sadly, I had the same experience in calling Technical Support twice today to ask about some technical issues with their equipment. I thought that it was a coincidence that I held for 20 plus minutes twice, and on both occasions the phone then rang and hung up...UNTIL I read the review that said the same thing. How stupid. Trying to chase business away? No thanks. You blew it.

Simplisafe is the Worst. Customer Service is nonexistent. They have a call center that sounds like a party going on, and their responses are always the same...take out the battery and reboot. I have made so many calls to their center and asked for a supervisor but I never get one I am canceling out my service as I feel it is useless since it does not Function as stated.

I like the price $14.99 per month. However I do not like the following. 1. The hold time waithing for a customer service representative is long, as long as 90 minutes to get my first issue resolved. 2. The part I requested, a remote key fob, has been sent to me three times, each time it is the wrong part. 3. The rep said he would call me when shipping the 3rd one to verify I received the right one, no call. 4. I emailed them and asked for a manager, quick reply that a manager would call me, three days now, no call. Very disatisfied, whose in charge there?

SimpliSafe system was spotty at best. System was unreliable, generally very unlikely you could arm remotely via your cell phone. When you call customer service they were usually at a loss. The unit base was replaced 3 separate times and the issue was they could simply not make it work. I would strongly recommend AGAINST anyone buying if you actually want a reliable smart security system.

I had this product for almost 2 years. The first year we had few problems. This year we have been having with dispatch connection and they can't seem to fix the problem. We are on our third base replacement and it is still not fixed. Calling the Tech Support office is a nightmare. You can't hear the person you are talking to because the office background is so loud. Vert frustrating.

I have not ever received the alarm yet and it has been a terrible experience. I have called customer service 4 times to find out where my alarm is and I have gotten 3 different stories of where it may be and one answer after being on hold while trying to find it that they have to call me back. Needless to say, it been two days and no callback and still no evidence that the item has been shipped, but they have my money. My suggestion find a different company this on is not ready the customer service is the worst I have ever experienced

Bought their special around Christmas. They kept selling, but they quit supporting for a little too long. No answer to voice mails, no answer to email. A TOTAL breakdown and, from a security company TOTALLY unacceptable. I wonder how many new customers were left TOTALLY unprotected while they were down. I thought this was a good company. That changed very quickly.

Bad experience, as the system was constantly giving us errors even though we set everything up properly. Would work fine for a few days, and then a random error would pop up with one of the sensors even though we didn't do anything to trigger it, move any sensor, or prompt the error. Spent waaaaaay too much time on the phone with them with super long hold times (20-30 mins). A new version of system came out right after we bought ours unfortunately for us.

I purchased this system because of the great reviews. I had some problems with installing the equipment and attempted to contact customer service for help. What a disappointment that was. I would wait on the phone around 30 to 40 minutes to no avail. They gave an option to enter "5" for a call back. They NEVER call back. After going through this routine around four times on different days I gave up and sent the equipment back for a refund. I feel like this would have been a good system but let the buyer beware of getting help when having problems.

I purchased the top system—700+ dollars. I had a few concerns and ATTEMPTED to contact CUSTOMER NO SERVICE. So disappointed. Called twice and left my number. SimpliSafe NEVER CALLED BACK. Then I tried again and was on hold for 23 minutes THEN WAS DISCONNECTED. When I called in to cancel my service and return my equipment, I was told by the gentleman that spoke to me that this is the problem with SimpliSafe, they don’t have enough people to take care of customer service and so many people are getting frustrated. ME TOO!!!

Had the worst experience while activating. I have had alarm systems on numerous properties over the years but this call to SimpliSafe really got my blood boiling. I was told that I have to go to a higher cost plan so SimplySafe can tell me what sensor location triggered the alarm. What nonsense? ADT would always tell me what triggered the alarm. I bought two systems over the holidays to protect the two homes I own. The monitoring price was attractive but this episode really turned me off. Will not activate and will look for another monitoring service. STAY AWAY FROM SIMPLISAFE!!!

This company is a scam. I paid over $1K and never received any equipment. I even paid for expedited shipping, to no avail. Emails are not responded to and their phone help desk hung up on me when I called. Stay away and order elsewhere.

I have an older version of the Simplisafe system (from 2016). The software that came with it is not runnable on any modern OS, so the whole system became useless. Instead of having an upgrade for the software (which would be a relatively cheap investment), the company proposed upgrading the whole system. Don't use this service!

Had 2 faulty doorbells. Was told that they could not do anything for the trouble and could not ship a return box because everyone is working from home. I am expected to pay for a new box and go to return both faulty doorbells. Worst customer service ever! Do not buy!!!

Got their system and installed it. First test failed. Returned the system weeks ago - still no refund. Called several times - very long holds and when finally connected, got disconnected. HORRIBLE customer service. Customer service? - not sure that’s in their lexicon.

The cameras and the video door bell do not link up well with WiFi. The wait times for customer service is very long. Dogs under 50 lbs. set off the motion detectors despite the claims to the opposite. When you do get customer service they do try to help but the equipment is junk.

I have had a basic system for over 1 year. The system functions great most of the time! But, beware if your system malfunctions after 12:00am (eastern)- actually Customer Service will not answer after about 11:45pm. You are unprotected, and have no recourse until Customer Service reopens in the morning. This is not 24/7 protection.

The system was easy to set up but never functioned as advertised. They claimed to have cellular coverage in my area and obviously did not. Turnaround for contacting support measures in days not hours. I was never able to get support when I was working on the system at our beach home. I am returning the system to get a refund.

Though I was saving with DIY and I am a master DIY guy. False fire alarms led to billing by fire department, which cost more then the system. Had to disconnect. Our old system shorted out after a electrical storm surge. The whole idea was to have fire/smoke protection.

Useless if you lose power even for a second. Phone app give false confirmation of alarm status. Demands you manually check the system weekly to see if it is still working. Really just the perception of security.
