Mountain Alarm was founded in 1952 when detecting fires still consisted of an alarm ringing at the local fire station. Today, Mountain Alarm is family-owned and operated throughout Idaho, Utah, and Colorado. Providing security, fire protection, monitoring, inspections, emergency communications services, access control, and video surveillance, it is a full service company, available to protect you and your family or your office from whatever threats arise.
Mountain Alarm is a small company located in Utah, Colorado and Idaho, but has the power of alarm.com working for it. Though Mountain Alarm provides the monitoring services, alarm.com provides the technology. Though many small alarm companies don't provide home automation, especially because the technology and equipment are sometimes very expensive, Mountain Alarm is able to provide these services. It also has a UL-listed central station.
One of the worst things about this company is the lack of information it provides to a potential customer. Though Mountain Alarm tells you what types of security it offers, the company has no pricing information on their website and nothing to tell you on whether or not you can purchase equipment through the company. Though Mountain Alarm tells you what each product can offer you, (for example, home automation can help you arm and disarm your system from away) it doesn't list the products the company uses, other than an obvious "powered by alarm.com" message on all of the web pages. Without any sort of FAQ section, the website is practically useless other than for the simple listing of the phone number.
I have been a customer of Mountain Alarm for over 2 years now. They purchased our alarm company which was originally installed through Questar Gas (Now Dominion Energy). Mountain Alarm has honored the contract I had with Questar (lifetime warranty part and labor). They have been out a couple of times to replace equipment and upgrade items. They utilize the online services of Alarm.com to monitor through the Alarm.com app. I like their services although after the upgrades our monthly monitoring is $43 per month. I will be looking around to see if I can get a better deal, with the online services included.
