“Outstanding customer service! Technical representatives are always patient, professional, and knowledgeable. Hardly have concerns with my system, only doorbell cam, never made a call with an issue unresolved.”

The Bad

  • Up-front Costs
  • Possible Long-Term Monitoring Contracts

Upfront Costs

Because Frontpoint has high-tech, robust security packages, upfront costs are a little high. The upfront cost for a security system may reach as high as $479 if a customer chooses the most advanced plan.

Possible Long-Term Monitoring Contracts

Full-service monitoring subscriptions are either month-to-month or require a 36-month contract. The length of the contract depends on the type of system package purchased.

Those who subscribe to the 36-month contract are subject to an early termination fee of 80 percent of the remaining monthly charges of the contract term. This is a hefty cancellation fee given the monthly monitoring price of $49.99 per month. Customers should check the subscription policy of their selected package before checking out.

Frontpoint does not have any self-monitoring options, unlike other DIY installers. This equipment is useless without a subscription to the monitoring service. However, the benefits of the monitoring service may outweigh the higher cost.

Frontpoint Frequently Asked Questions

How does the 30-day risk-free trial period work?

Frontpoint provides a 30-day trial period starting the day you receive your security system. If you are not completely satisfied with your purchases, you can return them for a full refund and free shipping. Returned items need to be postmarked within the 30-day timeframe to avoid a restocking fee of up to $150. This trial period only applies to Frontpoint equipment purchased directly from Frontpoint.

What is Frontpoint's Warranty Policy?

Frontpoint has a three-year limited warranty policy for all of its active Frontpoint customers. Frontpoint promises to repair or replace defective items within the three-year time frame. The warranty does not cover screens, wiring, light bulbs, LED, LCD, expendable batteries, or foil tape.

What is crash and smash protection?

Crash and smash protection triggers a notification to the monitoring center if your control panel is destroyed and no follow-up signals are detected. If the system is not disarmed or an alarm is not triggered, the monitoring center will treat the incident as a break-in.

How does Frontpoint security work?

Frontpoint is a DIY home security system that uses equipment spread inside and outside of your home to monitor movement and sound. After ordering an equipment package online, you’ll receive your equipment in the mail. Customers should follow instructions to install equipment and set up their accounts on the Frontpoint mobile app. Once your system is installed, you can track activity and manage your system from your mobile device or keypad. Frontpoint’s monitoring center is always on standby to respond to any alarms and send notifications of suspicious activity.

How do I prevent a false alarm?

You can reduce the likelihood of a false alarm by keeping all doors and windows shut, avoiding room sensors if you have pets over 40 pounds, installing all equipment properly, and training all users on how to properly manage the system. Learn how to cancel an accidental alarm. This includes carefully disarming your system using a code and waiting for the monitoring cent to call before leaving your home and business. You can contact Frontpoint customer support if you have major upcoming home renovation projects or acquire a pet over 40 pounds.

How much is a Frontpoint security system?

Frontpoint's home security services monitoring is $49.99 per month. Up-front package costs for a Frontpoint Security system start at $99 to $349 depending on additional equipment. The higher-priced packages include additional security equipment, security cameras, and live video streaming. Frontpoint also doesn't have additional fees for its monitoring service other than a cancellation fee if you have subscribed to a 36-month monitoring service.

Are Frontpoint’s motion sensors pet-friendly?

Fronpoint’s sensors are “pet friendly” for animals up to 40 pounds if installed correctly. Customers with pets heavier than 40 pounds should use window or glass-break sensors as an alternative to room sensors.

Great company, great service, outstanding equipment . Overall I am just a satisfied customer. It's easy to install compared to all these competitors out there that charge a lot more just to install it for you. They've always been friendly, they've always been convenient when I need them. When I call for an emergency or questions they always answer. If they don't answer they always call back. Affordable prices.

Any minor issues I've had, they've been super responsive and have always resolved the issue very quickly. I had an issue with a couple of the sensors. The garage door sensor I've actually had to replace multiple times because it failed, like within a year after installing it. But other than that, everything's been great. I like the fact that I can manage it remotely, particularly through the app on my cell phone. Overall it's been a great experience, their customer service has been super helpful and responsive. I would highly recommend them to anyone else.

Convenient and it's easy to install. I've had them for five to seven years and I've never really had an issue with the equipment. I had an issue with batteries once and they sent me a new battery, so that they stay on processing. When something happens, like your alarm goes off, they always call. If I have any questions or need to reset or anything a problem with it, all I do is call the customer support and they're more than willing to help me.

They are always patient and kind and helpful since I started with them in 2013. When my income greatly diminished after my husband died, they were able to reduce the cost some so I could keep the service. I've never dealt with a more caring company than Frontpoint

I have just been very satisfied with the service I have received, the reliability of the equipment I have been supplied with, and the flexibility I have been shown when there was a problem I was having. Get one. The thing we like the most is that they have not jacked up prices like other places have done. So their pricing is superb. It does what it's what they say it will do. They were very responsive and they were very concise. We've had front point for 10 years or more, all we did was get a new device from them.

There have been times when it's been difficult to get them on the phone, but most of the time they're pretty responsive. The system has been reliable. Cost is low and you have infinite alternatives. I think they need a better motion sensor. I think the motion sensors they have right now are a little bit limited.

They don't push on selling their stuff and they let the the customer make their own decisions. They've been reliable and consistent. It's good quality equipment, I only had one sensor that failed. They are fairly priced and they don't bother me.

We've had some trouble with our equipment. Most of the people are very good and take care of you, but every once in a while you get a bad one that doesn't want to do their job and you got to kind of nudge them along. They used to call you if there was a problem when you were away from your residence, but it's all gone electronic now and you don't talk to a person. I don't know if that's the best thing or not. I think they ought to be a little more personal.

They have always been helpful and took care of the problems promptly. It's been fine. They've had to send me a few batteries, but that's normal. It doesn't rely on the internet to call out for fire or police or whatever, it just uses a cell network.

There is a lack of availability of the tech support. It was difficult to get someone during the week, let alone on the weekend. It was almost impossible. There was always a callback, but if something was really wrong, like when we had a smoke alarm that just kept going off nonstop, and it was out of control. Tech support called us back like 2 hours later, so it was the service was really bad, I must admit. They constantly had to ship us new smoke detectors, then we had to call and complain again and they had to ship us more new ones. I guess the technology just wasn't working and for a newer company, that's understandable, but it's painful for the consumer.

When I was researching home security I found that Frontpoint had the best offer available, so I went with them. It was quick and easy access to the company. When I called late at night, they were available and very courteous and that was a comfort to me. My alarm finally went out on me after few years of service and they were pretty quick in responding to my need for a new machine and some additional sensors. I also opted for a new contract and that worked out okay because it has given me more more benefits and I actually ended up saving you some money. I really haven't had any problems with any of the sensors - door, window, and the glass breaking sensors. I've never actually had to test it so I'm assuming that still works quite well.

Whenever I needed some assistance the employees were very patient and very helpful. They took me step by step to get whatever I needed to get done. I felt like they had a good attitude about it. It's easy to install yourself but there were also certain things that were a little bit confusing. I feel like they did a good job providing whatever information you need to online. There were a couple of times where I had issues with the equipment but the customer service was really good at answering those questions and getting everything fixed. I think that it's a very good security system. It's very convenient.

I have had Frontpoint twice, once in MD, & FL on an older machine. I stopped the calling service after 3 years contract but kept equipment plugged in and thank goodness because someone did try to break in and the alarm went off. I signed up for newer equipment and replacement batteries/sensors when needed. Frontpoint contacts you when there is a disconnect but perhaps they should call if a sensor goes off such as it moves position as in an open position. FP makes a big deal about the contract of 3 years, but I think it should be less time once you own equipment, the call in service perhaps should cost more to keep pace with other competition on market. So if the products and service fits your needs, then you have happy customers.

The customer service is always there when I call. They always have the solution for the problem. They are prompt. When we have had some problems, they were on the ball. We've had 2 keypads replaced because of a wire. We have had some problems with the alarm system. When we parked in the garage for some reason the alarm goes off and I have to call. I like that I can call anytime day or night and Frontpoint is there to assist me. The other day the alarm would not go off and within less than a minute they were calling the police. I called it off but to know that things got taken care of and they made sure the police did not come out. But it was a very good experience for me.

Customer service is amazing. I've had problems and I feel like I get undivided attention until the issue is resolved. The system is not dependent solely on WIFI or electricity, it has the cellular aspect, so it just seems more reliable than anything else. One problem I have happened to me two months ago. I had a really disturbing experience with my smoke alarm going off really early in the morning and the fire department came. Then I got a letter in the mail, basically a warning, saying if this happens again, I will be fined. And of course I called up Frontpoint and said I thought the fire alarm malfunctioned. According to the customer service person I spoke to was, 'oh yeah they get dusty sometimes and that sets them off.' I was provided with absolutely no information about that when I installed the smoke alarm. So to this day I'm worried about remembering to clean the smoke alarm. When it went off, it was insanely loud. I've had ringing in my ear for months. It was a very disturbing experience. If this is a reoccurring situation with Frontpoint, they have to somehow convey this information that the smoke alarms have a sensitive part that collects dust.

The representative over the phone spent a lot of time with me and he made me feel good and comfortable about the purchase. He made me feel secure that it was going to work for me so I went with Frontpoint. I really like all the window sensors and the docking station is great. If the docking station becomes unplugged it still registers and sends messages to the home base. It's super easy to use. I would have loved to have somebody come out and install the cameras for me because I still haven't installed the cameras and I paid all that money, having somebody come out and install cameras would be very good.

The system was easy to install myself. I've only had to call support once or twice but they were able to answer my questions and resolve my problem pretty quickly. The only problem I've noticed with their equipment is a lot of it has self adhesive so that you can save the interior of the house but it doesn't hold very well and they need to come up with a better adhesive. I like that I can contral the alarm through an app on my telephone remotely. I was quoted a certain price and then I was told later that in order to use the app feature, which I definitely still wanted to use it, it was going to be an additional ten dollars. I thought that was a little high just to use the app. I feel like they should have included that in the original price. I've had a couple of false alarms and they were very trustworthy as far as trying to alert me of the alarm and calling my local police when I was out of range to receive their call.

I called in and talked to the company and they said that they would send everything we needed overnight and walk through the set up. It was super easy. The only thing we had wrong was one of those door keypads and the first keypad we got for some reason we couldn't get to sitck so they just sent us another one. Anytime that we've had to interact with the customer service, they were able to do it quickly and troubleshoot over the phone with us. They are easy to get ahold of and don't put you on hold forever. It's really easy to install. It's not actually wired so we didn't have any issues with the actual equipment. It's really functional. We had less trouble with this system than we had with other systems we've had in the past.

I chose Frontpoint because they were actually the first one that popped up and within five minutes they called me back with a quote and even though I wasn't planning on signing up that day, he ended up giving me an offer that I absolutely could not say no to so I signed up. The customer service absolutely goes above and beyond to make sure that they understand your problem and that they fix your problem on the first call. They're very professional and courteou. I could not say enough about the outstanding performance from the customer service. The equipment is extremely well built. It's easy to use and easy to set up. The monitoring fee is for Canadians and it's a little steep compared to some of the other companies but I don't really have any complaints.

I had a lot of trouble with technical stuff and when I started it off they were very patient. They walk me through everything and when I had mistake come up for me, I called them and they reassured me and they were always available, very good service. I checked others and the amount of things that I would have to purchase from them in order to get just what I need would be way much more than I'm paying for what I'm getting from front point There's nothing wrong with it at all. I've never had anything happen, the equipment runs well, and the it's very important to me. I use it and security for my elderly mother who lives alone. Frontpoint gave me the best quality, the price, the ratio, their use of innovative systems. And I can move them from house to house. They're just great and every time I call them they answer in time, every time there is a problem they call me, they let me know the situation or the status. They always the code in the alarm to make sure that it's me. They're really good with customer service. Their equipment is pretty good, the main features are incredibly good but the other motion sensors sometimes they can have little problems. The other day, I forgot to disarm my system and I got in my house and it went off and literally five seconds later they called.

They are extremely available. They are helpful they will guide you through everything. They are patient, they give clear directions and they stay with you until you have it installed or whatever issues you're dealing with is resolved. Except if you have an issue that doesn't fall into their Purdue. For instance, I would like an indicator that lets people know I have video surveillance. They do not offer one. That seems like a loose thread. If you purchase a product from them, they should be proud to advertise that Front Point provides the video surveillance. So it was suggested that I go on the internet and order one. That fell short of what I expect from them and what they should offer.

They have been good, they were right there with me to set up the system and make sure it works. When I first bought everything, they gave me a 40% discount because of my credit rates, so I thought that was good. There is no discount after the initial, so if I want additional equipment it's very expensive. They told me that the interior sensors wouldn't pick up anything under 40 pounds in the house, but the alarm went off because my cat happened to walk by (my cat weighs like 3 pounds) so it's obvious it will pick up any movement. I ended up having to get rid of my cat to use that sensor. If it's portable I will definitely put it in my new place that I move into in about 6 weeks.

Straight from the beginning of the process, their customer support has been so helpful and good at answering stupid questions that we had. Right through problem solving and false alarms we've had, they've been really understanding. I work for the police department, so knowing what other products/companies offer, it's the same if not better than other systems. Their customer service is one of the best alarm companies, if not the best company overall that I've dealt with. The price is outstanding for the value you get.

I did some online research and they just had the best ratings as a company. They also had some advantages over their competitors, so I ended up signing up with them. I've had a few false alarms because of one of the sensors. They get triggered easily but customer service has been quite patient with us when that happens. They usually answer my questions and are always on top of everything, even when I forget some things. They make sure to contact me about anything that happens. They have really been doing a good job. It is a little pricey compared to some of their competitors, but I think that's because they have certain advantages to the other ones.

I was looking for a security system that wasn't monitored by ADT or something like that. I guess I just wanted something I could install myself, and I could do that with Frontpoint. Any issue that I've had, they have been able to resolve within minutes of talking to them. I was always either walked through the process or they just told me how to fix it. I think they could improve on how you attach sensors to walls and doors. I understand that most of their door and window sensors have those little sticky things on the back but sometimes those units tend to just fall to the floor. The sticky bits just don't work.

I researched what was available online before picking them. The reason was that they had cameras that let you talk to whoever came up to them. Everything else also looked great and since they did everything through the phone it made it easier for me to use it. I really didn't order it for myself, I got it for my mom. She doesn't live anywhere near me, and my brother was the one that went up and installed it all for her. Customer support was very helpful through-out the whole process. They even helped me and my brother to get connected to her system. It was a very simple and fast procedure thanks to them. They're also available most of the time and they will call you back to check on you and make sure things are well. So far the equipment has been good. My mother has been able to understand it and handle it very easily. Since I can also check on the system from my own device, it makes it a lot easier to keep tabs on what's going on. I am very satisfied with it so far. I needed it to have some assurance. Even though my mom is alone I can keep an eye on her no matter where I am.

I picked it since they were one of the easiest systems to set up and they had a great price, especially compared to systems like ADT. I filled out their online contact information form and they called me back within the first day. They got everything set up and ready in no more than half an hour. We set up the billing and they checked with me how many floors the house had, entry ways, windows, and stuff like that so they could provide me with enough sensors for everything. Any additional sensors were $60 so my initial cost for everything was very low, only $160 and there was no contract. Other companies I checked charged you more, including charges for set up. 3 days later I had all the stuff I needed. It came with instructions for you to set it up yourself and it was pretty smooth and easy.

I went with them because of several reasons. One was that it all worked wirelessly, so I didn't need to have anything hooked up for it to work. That meant that if I decided to move somewhere else while my contract was still up, I could take the system and equipment with me. The biggest reason though was that after a year, the contract itself would terminate and I would switch to a month-by-month plan. When the equipment got to me, not everything was labeled. I had to download the instructions online and figure out which piece went where by myself. They have reached out to me whenever there is a false alarm, but the reports that they give me are not as detailed as I'd like them to be. They usually just tell me what happened and at what time. Once, after they had sent out the police for a false alarm, I had to give them a callback to figure out what exactly had set off the alarm in the first place.

They were running a special offer or something of the sort at the time. I was comparing things online and Frontpoint just seemed to be the most straightforward and simple system, especially when it came to the installation. The kicker was that the person that helped me was super patient when I called. You know, sometimes when you talk to a customer service rep they aren't really patient and they kind of make you feel stupid for having an issue. Not them though. Their customer service representatives are just very well trained. When one of my sensors fell off and I couldn't figure out what was going on with it they were just like 'maybe you didn't notice this or that, here's how to fix the problem' and that was it. I'm totally satisfied with it.

We wanted something that got a quick response from police and law enforcement. Judging from some of the reviews online, that seemed to be the case with Frontpoint. It also looked like no one could really tamper with the machine because it's cellular powered. If someone tried to unplug it or something, it would still notify the police or me about it. When I decided to sign up, I gave them my contact information online and they called me right away. The man that I talked to was really nice and got me hooked up with what I needed. When I got the system, I as able to set it up on my own with some help from a customer service rep over the phone. She was nice and helpful too. We've tested and played with everything and it all seems to work just fine. I had some issues with the motion sensors but I just called them and they were able to help me and get them working. We travel to Michigan a lot because that's where we're from. Since we are usually gone for a couple of days when we go there, it gives us peace of mind to have it. I can check from my phone if any doors or windows have been opened while I'm gone. If I forget to arm the alarm when I leave, I can do that with my phone too. There have been a couple of times where I've actually forgotten to do that, but it's not a big deal. As soon as I remember, I just get my phone out and arm the system. Mainly though, it gives me peace of mind when I have to work in the evenings. With my wife and baby home, I couldn't imagine not having this. If something happens, the police and I will be notified right away.

I just googled the best home security systems and they were the first ones that came up. I shopped around a little more, but I just decided to move forward and get them. Especially because the representative that assisted me was very kind. Whenever I have questions or have issues with the payments, I always get help instantly, even during the weekends. Everything works the way it's supposed to work. There have been a couple of times when the alarm went off on its own. Actually, the second time that it happened it was my own fault. When that happens, I receive a call back from them within a few seconds. I was very happy to find out that the service worked and that they responded instantly. I'm glad I chose Frontpoint, I feel very safe with them.

I was with ADT for 5 years but when I was able to, I switched to them since they had good reviews and the option for a year-long contract. The system is pretty reliable and easy to install. They were very helpful over the phone when we got things set up. After that I've called customer support a few times because we have a young baby and sometimes when we arm the system he activates the alarm by accident. We've just been trying to figure out how to avoid that. But whenever the alarm goes off, I get a call from them immediately to see if everything is ok. At some point they added a feature that allowed me to lock and unlock my system from my phone. I really liked it but apparently it was just a trial. After a month they took it off and offered it to me for $10 more on top of the price I was already paying.

Everything's been good so far. Customer support has answered all of my questions, and it was pretty simple to install the system. Plus, I really liked that I could customize my plan and take it to another home if needed. Unlike my previous provider, I could arm the system at night without making too much noise. That's something important for me because I have 2 babies. The only thing I don't like is the logos we put on the windows or front yard. They're a little too flashy, and they just don't seem sophisticated enough to alert a burglar that there's some type of security system. It almost looks fake.

The system only accidentally went off when the smoke alarm fell off the wall. I now secured it with screws. Customer service is always helpful. Very kind, and very knowledgeable.

Way too many small issues with the alarm system, such as bypassing sections. showing doors open when they are actually close. calling to fix is very time consuming and most times we have to leave a call back and when that happens t's usually while in the middle of meeting or taking care of our customer.

They have great customer service, they're very prompt and professional. We didn't have any issues with any of the equipment until like seven years in, so that's impressive. It doesn't require a land line. Could be cheaper.

They answer most of my questions, but there have been one or two instances where it's been difficult to to get certain issues resolved. Mostly reliable. The company is willing to work with anything that is faulty, but the touch screen panel in my opinion should turn off, not stay on at all times. My house is safe.

I had a couple times where I had to call more than once before I got to a good representative. I've never had an issue with the equipment. As long as it was set up properly. Easy access to use.

I have some issues with my garage door, because I put it at the garage door and sometimes it will activate it without the door being really open. Everything else was fine. It was pretty easy to install the equipment and the application and the software. It was easy to use. Every time I called the costumer service has solved my problem.

The cost had gone up slightly. I would like to be able to reach customer service without waiting hours, that would be helpful. It's easy to use. There is a phone app it allows you to turn it on and off.

It's been reliable and has functioned for about 5 or 6 years now. The best thing about using Frontpoint is that the quipment doesn't depend on my internet, they just need to be able to integrate cameras better.

It's easy to install. It's not that robust, but it's adequate. The only feedback I have is that when I'm trying to disconnect from them I've had to wait on line for up to 40 minutes and I just gave up after a while and even with their call back service they never called back.

3 things...Shipping-Cost/Customer-Suport/Monthyl-Cost...for the customer who are with you long term, please do free shipping when they new security products & 2nd one I noticed there is communication gap, when my contract was extended Customer support person promised me extending my contract for addition 3 years will cover all equipments under warranty, but when one equipment failed I was asked to pay the cost for the equipment, when I explained they could find only my contract extension, but not find the note of my warranty. & 3rd consider lowering the monthly fee after 4 years of service, it would be helpful for customer who are with you for 4 years.

I liked their communications their customer service was excellent, I had zero problems with them and I've had them for over three years. They are always very helpful, they're always quick to respond and they help me navigate with any problem very easily. I have had a couple of issues with sensors but they were able to fix them very quickly. I love being able to navigate it with my phone and having alerts come up anytime that I need them when I'm away or otherwise. My only suggestion would be maybe follow up after a three-year contract is up to see how we could save more money.
