Three Coverage Options

Total Auto Protect offers its clients three protection plans:

  • Total Plus
  • Total Convenience
  • Total Premier

The Total Plus vehicle service contract covers repairs for the engine, transmission, drive axles, electrical systems, cooling, brakes. Additionally, it offers coverage for parts and labor.

Total Convenience covers the same things as the Total Plus plan. It also includes coverage for All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and steering.

Total Premier offers all the coverage the Total Convenience extended warranties offer. It also includes additional coverage for heating, air conditioning, fuel system, Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), hi-tech electronics, the supercharger, and the front and rear suspension.

Plan Features and Perks

Total Auto Protect clients can get their car fixed at any ASE-certified mechanic location, which makes it convenient for clients to find a mechanic they trust.

Total Auto Protect also offers its clients a 30-day money-back guarantee and a price match guarantee. These guarantees help clients get the best price for the coverage they need.

Total Auto Protect is not a third-party seller, which makes it convenient for clients to purchase a plan, ask questions, and file claims easily directly with Total Auto Protect.

All of Total Auto Protect’s protection plans include the following:

  • Roadside assistance
  • Trip interruption reimbursement
  • Rental car reimbursement
  • Locksmith services

I would not recommend them to anyone. I purchased a warranty, May 2022 a five year warranty 60 months or 150,000 miles my car only has 24,744 miles on it. My alternator went out Total Auto Protect sent me a new one and I had it installed on 8/30/24 and they were supposed to pay for diagnostics and labor which total $360 that I was told would be refunded back to me in 30days today is 12/2/24 and I have not been reimbursed I have made many calls since 9/30/24 The receptionist said they have a high call volume and someone will call me back within 24 hours never did now when you called them your put on hold for a long time then you have to leave a message that no one ever gets back with you this was my first time using my auto warranty I paid $1800 for nothing I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau Total Auto Protect did not respond to them and now with the Attorney General of Delaware next step is to file a court case.

I wish I could give a rating lower than 1. This company is truly the worst of the worst. Before purchasing a policy for my Maserati, I confirmed that things like the radio, speakers, screen, engine, started, etc were all covered and was told they were. Well, about one year later, my car experienced some type of electrical malfunction that left the radio, screen and one speaker not functional. They completely denied all 3 claims. So, in Feb '24 I emailed (as per the contract) to cancel but as of today (10/29/24), I still do not have my refund. They will look for every possible "exclusion" so as to exclude whatever you need replaced/repaired and then if/when you demand a refund, they take forever. I've been trying to cancel my warranty for over 8 months and still don't have a refund. It took them six months to get me the cancellation form and then they say on the cancellation form that it can take 60 BUSINESS days for a refund....that's 3 months. The owners of this company must truly be the scum of the earth. They take advantage of those who trusted them. RUN. RUN. RUN!!!! And NEVER consider Total Auto Protect. They are some of the best scam artists I have ever encountered in my 60 years. Run and do not look back!!!

This is the worse company I have ever done business with. I sold my car and cancelled the TAP policy on July 22, 2024. TAP quickly replied that I was due a refund of the unused premium. They charged a $250 and $50 fee to cancel the policy. Per their own email, they had 60-days to return my premium. As of over 90-days now, they have not returned the premium, answered a phone call, responded to an email or anything. Every time I call them, their phone answering system times out and directs you to leave a message. Problem is they do not know how to return a phone call. The only time I got someone to answer the phone is when I called their sales department. They are always willing to sell you a policy. Based on my experience that is where their service stops. I only selected one star because there are no negative numbers. This company sucks at the lowest level.

Well the company I'm dealing with called Total Auto Protect is not the one of all the rave 5* reviews. Mine is one who doesn't return countless calls or emails-that's if they condescend to pick up the phone at all. As for my claim...well buyer beware, because what they DON'T cover is way more extensive than what they do. Check their policy VERY CAREFULLY you will discover that their coverage is highly selective-to the point of being almost worthless. Anyway my claim was eventually agreed, after weeks if not months, of zero communication and the promise of a check 'within two months.' (In contrast to the 30 seconds it took them to take the premium from my credit card). So today, nine weeks later, and after 45 minutes holding on the phone and never talking to anyone that could help, here's my take on the Total Auto Portect. DON"T GO NEAR THEM!

My 2014 Bentley Flying Spur stalled while I was driving on the highway going about 80mph, I was able to roll off the highway safely and had to get towed because the vehicle wouldn't start. I like that Total Auto Protect let me use my Bentley dealership. The whole process did take a couple weeks because total sent the dealer their own parts, it was reasonable since the dealer was charging more than double for the same factory parts that they sent. They also gave me reimbursement for the tow that I paid for out of pocket so I'm satisfied with the company. I'm happy I purchased the coverage last year.

I researched different companies to cover my vehicles and decided to go with Total Auto Protect. Once I was contacted by a Total Auto Protect representative, I knew I had made the right decision. The representative, Jason, was highly motivated and knowledgeable. He did not try to push the policy on me or any unneeded coverage. He found different discounts, such as Veterans and multi vehicles discounts. I found the cost of the policies to be reasonable, so I actually purchased two policies. I own an exotic car and needed an extended warranty. Total Auto Protect popped up on a google search and I called in for a quote. I spoke with Jason who was very accommodating and thorough offering me several options to accommodate my specific requirements. Specifically, more money upfront for a longer policy but less costly per year and with a pro-rated refund contract. He also went to bat and found additional discounts. Even more surprising was when I called in a few days later and spoke with Jason again. I decided to trade in my car after all and told him that I would be canceling the policy. Without any hesitation and the utmost professionalism, Jason told me to simply email the company with the policy number and made me feel completely at ease with the cancellation. He said to continue to keep his contact number and would remain my personal contact for any needs I may have in the future. All companies should be so understanding. Thank you Jason!!

My wife and I were shopping around to find a grade A company that would take over on our factory warranty after it had expired. After researching 4 companies two companies responded quickly the first one was Total Auto Protect. After talking with the sales manager Bryan he explained everything that each of there plans covered, and recommend a plan for us that was excellent for our new vehicle. Plus they also gave us a Military discount for the deductible of the plan. The second company could not even come close to the price for the warranty and deductible price of the plan. Thank you! There are literally dozens of complaints from past customers who canceled their service early for various reasons, only to have this company refuse to pay the refund. I am one such customer. I canceled in February of 2024. After numerous phone calls and countless empty promises I received no results. They even lied and said it should have been returned to my original payment method. After which I was promised a check in the mail. I was placed on hold and left there for 15-20 minutes at a time, repeatedly, passed from department to department, and ultimately hung up on. Despite writing a letter to make them aware of my intentions, I received no response. I was subsequently forced to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and to this day, I have yet to receive any resolution or even a phone call. I fear I will have no other choice but to sue this company in small claims court to retrieve my almost $3000. I do not recommend this company to anyone. Their behavior is unscrupulous and far from professional. I dread to think what would happen if you actually had to make a claim.

I noticed the water pump on my tahoe started leaking when I was at kroger picking up groceries. So I took it to my chevrolet dealership. Ike in claims in great! He was helpful in answering questions and letting me know the process of submitting the claim. I was able to pick up my car 2 days later. I am considering getting a plan to also cover my 2013 lexus

UPDATE after my previous review.Im giving 4 stars for effort. Total Auto Protect customer service called me. The person who called was pleasant to talk to and understanding. My frustration with their policy still remains. However, I have to recognize their effort's to ameliorate the situation, and their customer service quality. They offered to "look" further and make some kind of courtesy payment. I just wished I didn't have to send emails and complain. I understand te fine print has to ALWAYS be read very carefully. The lingo of this type of contracts are confusing. I hope everything will be solved. I know that I will have to pay part of the repair. My question is: Is it fair.?

What I liked about the process was the speed, there is nothing wrong with the Car but it is over ten years old and things could start happening anytime, it's nice to know I have a good warrantee program on a car this age with this many miles (82,000). The service was fast and complete within two days, the service rep was very professional and knew everything about the process, seemed like a seamless service, it feels good to know I am covered.

So far my experience has been great. The real truth will come if I ever have to use this. It's hard to answer the quality of product , or value for money, customer service or trustworthiness, since all these things are developed over time and use of the product. How can ANYONE answer them honestly if they just met or started, like I have, but like I said the time will tell, if and when I have to use your product. I do hope that you understand.

I wasn't planning on purchasing a protection auto plan just browsing! I did call & was very impressed with the coverage a lower deductible than other plans & with options I didn't have with the TV plans I often saw ! My vehicle is a 2002 but in good shape engine wise & I plan on keeping it that way! Plus I can cancel my road assistance coverage that I currently pay for including car rental coverage since that is included with this plan a nice bonus! We purchased an extended warranty thru Harley Davidson and were charged more thank originally quoted. We decided to check around to see what else there was out there. After reading dozens of happy reviews from other customers we checked with Total Auto Protect. Jason called us with a quote of over 700.00 less than Harley Davidson for the same coverage and a lesser deductible. Jason was very pleasant a knowledgeable. I was very pleased that they were willing to do so, and that they were flexible in my payment method. I had issues with my credit card and I forgot to call and update the number that total auto protect had on file. I had missed my monthly payment by over a week so i called them to explain what happened. They were very nice and made sure my coverage was still in effect. They told me to not worry about it -- they deferred the payment since Ive always had such a great payment history with them. These guys are a class act and I mean it!

I am very happy with the service I received from representatives in Total's customer service department. My car broke down and I had to get it towed to the nearest repair shop. I contacted customer service and Stephanie was very nice. She worked with me to easily file my claim, and after that, the company handled everything with the repair shop that my car was checked into. My car was fully functioning in just two days, and I was only responsible for my small deductible. Thank you so much for the service!

I have an older car and the warranty on it was up and I really wanted to keep it because we have some sentimental value to it. My husband has always done upkeep on it and he tried to make sure that after he was gone, I wouldn’t have any kind of problems with the car. So we decided to get this plan. I was pleased with their customer service. They would call back if they tell me they'd call me back. We wanted some pricing and information and they called me back, the gentleman was very helpful, and friendly.

I could barely get a hold of a representative from my old insurance provider. It was like pulling teeth trying to get questions answered of any sort. With Total Auto Protect, the customer service feels more natural and less forced like I’ve experienced in the past.

Everything went okay and smoothly with my experience with their reps. I understood what they were saying and didn’t have any questions. Also, making payments was fairly easy.

BUYER BEWARE !!!!! Claims doesn't answer phone calls or emails - it's Impossible to get a response from them. Paid in full for a premium package almost two years ago and now we are having major issues with my vehicle; Myself or Chevy can't get a hold of anyone at Total Auto Protect to approve the claim. They literally cover nothing that your purchased warranty packet clearly states. This is the 2nd time I have tried to reach out for an issue with my car. They say they have system issues and that is why they take so long to respond. They will never respond to your emails. When you call in and a lady takes your name and number, they will never call you back. When your dealership sends in the claim, you have to call in yourself every day and pray you actually catch someone on the phone. They will tell you they will call your dealership later, and they won't. Then when you finally get them to call your dealership, they will deny everything and make up lies as to why it is denied.

I was buying a used 2014 Porsche 911 and the dealer was not able to offer a warranty on it so they recommended I get a plan with Total Auto Protect. Jason made the process very smooth and easy and was able to help getting me signed up.

He was very patient with all my questions, and always called me back within 10 minutes when he was unavailable for my phone calls to him. The policy I purchased is very comprehensive, but a little expensive, but probably worth it since I am covering a used Mercedes-Benz.
