As with any business, there are downsides to RingCentral. Admittedly, it's a bit difficult to identify significant weaknesses with this company. Here are the main frustrations you might have with this VoIP service:
As their pricing model has four tiers, each consecutive plan comes with more toll-free and calling minutes, along with collaboration tools than the last. That being said, the first two tiers are low-cost VoIP options.
The Essentials and Standard plans do not come with automatic call recording capabilities. The flaw here is that you have to pay for a more expensive Premium plan if you desire any of these features.
We should also note that the first tier, Essentials, is only available for up to 10 users, and only includes 100 phone minutes in the monthly plan, so it would only really be viable for small business owners.
Perhaps a less common need for a consumer is that of a contract for their VoIP service. Most people would find it a pro for RingCentral to not require clients to sign a contract to use their phone service. However, contracts have their place in that they can sometimes reduce your costs over time. If that's something you would prefer, then RingCentral does not offer that perk.
RingCentral is definitely a recommended brand for VoIP services. Not only has the company proven itself with a large customer base, and a good amount of business experience; it also offers flexibility and transparency that are sure to please.

For clients who prefer a contracted phone system or who might want a low-grade VoIP system for personal or residential use, this company may not be a good match.

They are fantastic. Their customer support is generally very good. Their system downtime is extremely limited. On very rare occasions a very small percentage of the phones might be down in the office for up to 30 minutes and then it's back up all by itself. I think they take security seriously. I notice they encrypt and change default passwords with stuff dealing with configuring phones, unlike other companies I've tried. They only get a star off because tracking calls' origin and displaying it on a phone, and tracking that can be difficult. Also, callerID company-wide must say the same thing, so we've had to create another "generic" account we use when it doesn't want it to say our primary company name.

I am new to RingCentral and so far have used only their Fax service. I am very impressed with their lever of Customer Support! I have spoken with them on the phone (Yes! an actual person on the other end) and I have chatted with them with questions. They are very helpful, knowledgeable and don't end the call or chat until my questions are completely answered or resolved. I would highly recommend RingCentral!

Our company has been using RingCentral for a couple of years and service has been very good for the most part. (Every rep in a call center has a bad day from time to time, but it's frustrating when you're trying to get an issue resolved and they are having that bad day.) RC offers lots of different features and ways to configure the phones for your business needs. The online portal makes it even easier and support is available when needed. Overall, we have had very good experience with RingCentral and would recommend them as a premier VoiP company!

The connection to the servers can be spotty, but overall I don't know why you wouldn't get this service!
I worked for awhile as a sales rep for a startup company and we used RingCentral. It seemed to work well, when an interested person would call in to the number, it would route to my cell phone, which was handy.
Very easy to use, and very helpful whenever I have had to call in.
The Ring Central Fax service works very well for my business. It enables me to offer complete and convenient access for my clients.
great product and reasonably priced. required fax number for short period of time and didn't have a fax machine, ability to email fax and purchase a number for a monthly period was perfect for my needs. Fax quality was high and know the content was sent over wire successfully.
We had horrible service with Ring Central's Voip. The phones kept dropping the service, our internet kept going down. This wasn't the exception to the norm, it was happening everyday, every hour! We'd call the tech support, who blamed it on our internet provider. The internet provider would come down and check, talk to the tech support and say it was not them. We told tech support that possibly one of the phones we bought from them was faulty. Nope, they said that was the first item they checked. They kept insisting it was the internet provider. Amazingly we changed phone systems and all issues stopped immediately. When we notified Ring Central that we were stopping service with them, they asked why. After hearing our complaints, they said maybe one of our phones was faulty, and who did we get it from? We told them the phones were purchased from them. After that, there was no comment. I would not recommend using their service or products.
I'm very pleased with Ring Central. We've had our toll free number for two years and no issues whatsoever. Billing is simple and pricing competitive (they matched another offer we had). Highly recommend.
