Bells & Whistles

RingCentral doesn't just offer you a VoIP service app to make wifi-based calls. As a UCaaS company, it offers internet-based voice calling, bundled together with dozens of extra communication tools to make all types of contact easier: phone calls, business SMS messaging, and video conferencing for online meetings and training. You can leave your landline phone behind and upgrade to RingCentral's cloud-based virtual PBX and management systems for business. These special tools are included in each plan.

  • Auto-receptionist
  • Multi-level IVR for inbound calls
  • Hold music
  • Dial-by-name address book
  • Call monitoring
  • Toll-free services
  • Analytics and reporting

RingCentral Professional plan features integrate with 110+ well-known desktop and mobile app features from companies such as:

  • Desk.com
  • Dropbox
  • Google
  • Microsoft
  • Okta
  • Oracle
  • Salesforce
  • ServiceNow
  • Zendesk

Internet fax services are also available, this allows you to send or receive faxes online. Check out our RingCentral Fax reviews here

Along with all of these call control and monitoring features, software integration options, and fax, users can also use the RingCentral app to bring the business phone service with you anywhere on your mobile device. You can even transfer your existing phone number to RingCentral and set up an international number.

Customer Support

From accessing basic information to setting up your VoIP system and managing your account, it's easy to contact RingCentral with questions. Customer Support options include 24/7 phone service and a live chat tool. Plenty of up-front answers to frequently asked questions are also available on the website.

RingCentral Pricing Plans

There are four business VoIP service + UCaaS office plans to choose from, ranging from $29.99 per month per user to $69.99 per month per user.

All four plans come with most of the features you would need, but the rate goes up for additional bundled services added. The pricing plan is tiered so that companies with more employees pay a bit less per user.

They offer monthly or annual billing, with cheaper rates (up to 33%) for those who are able to bill annually. As a note, if you are planning to have more than 10,000 users, pricing may be different. You are asked to contact the sales team for more info.

You should also know that RingCentral doesn't charge activation or cancellation fees for their business VoIP phone service.

Free Trial

If you're at all on the fence about these services, RingCentral offers a 30-day trial for all of its pricing plans. This makes it easy for customers to test their phone systems and optional features before you commit to a pricing plan.

The Bad

  • Missing Features on Low-Grade Plans
  • No Contract Available

As with any business, there are downsides to RingCentral. Admittedly, it's a bit difficult to identify significant weaknesses with this company. Here are the main frustrations you might have with this VoIP service:

Missing Features on Low-Grade Plans

As their pricing model has four tiers, each consecutive plan comes with more toll-free and calling minutes, along with collaboration tools than the last. That being said, the first two tiers are low-cost VoIP options.

The Essentials and Standard plans do not come with automatic call recording capabilities. The flaw here is that you have to pay for a more expensive Premium plan if you desire any of these features.

We should also note that the first tier, Essentials, is only available for up to 10 users, and only includes 100 phone minutes in the monthly plan, so it would only really be viable for small business owners.

No Contract Available

Perhaps a less common need for a consumer is that of a contract for their VoIP service. Most people would find it a pro for RingCentral to not require clients to sign a contract to use their phone service. However, contracts have their place in that they can sometimes reduce your costs over time. If that's something you would prefer, then RingCentral does not offer that perk.

The Bottom Line

RingCentral is definitely a recommended brand for VoIP services. Not only has the company proven itself with a large customer base, and a good amount of business experience; it also offers flexibility and transparency that are sure to please.

Any customer will enjoy free activation and a wide variety of special tools, easy setup, and ready customer support. In particular, RingCentral is exceptional at being up-front with information pertaining to pricing and the logistics of activating your VoIP system. The features offered for tiered plans include a desktop app, smartphone app, video conferencing, cloud PBX, a number of toll-free minutes, and much more.

For clients who prefer a contracted phone system or who might want a low-grade VoIP system for personal or residential use, this company may not be a good match.

In the end, the flexibility of the tiered RingCentral Office options, including bundled VoIP phone, unified communications packages, and the many features that come with the services will suit a variety of both small and enterprise-level businesses.

The connection to the servers can be spotty, but overall I don't know why you wouldn't get this service!

I worked for awhile as a sales rep for a startup company and we used RingCentral. It seemed to work well, when an interested person would call in to the number, it would route to my cell phone, which was handy.

great product and reasonably priced. required fax number for short period of time and didn't have a fax machine, ability to email fax and purchase a number for a monthly period was perfect for my needs. Fax quality was high and know the content was sent over wire successfully.

We had horrible service with Ring Central's Voip. The phones kept dropping the service, our internet kept going down. This wasn't the exception to the norm, it was happening everyday, every hour! We'd call the tech support, who blamed it on our internet provider. The internet provider would come down and check, talk to the tech support and say it was not them. We told tech support that possibly one of the phones we bought from them was faulty. Nope, they said that was the first item they checked. They kept insisting it was the internet provider. Amazingly we changed phone systems and all issues stopped immediately. When we notified Ring Central that we were stopping service with them, they asked why. After hearing our complaints, they said maybe one of our phones was faulty, and who did we get it from? We told them the phones were purchased from them. After that, there was no comment. I would not recommend using their service or products.

I'm very pleased with Ring Central. We've had our toll free number for two years and no issues whatsoever. Billing is simple and pricing competitive (they matched another offer we had). Highly recommend.
