I wish I could do zero for sneaky practice I am a single parent of two already struggling so when I saw the $3500 refund advance option I thought great I can definitely do this because I received over $3000 back every year. The first catch is you have to go in and actually have a prepare person do your filing, ok no problem How much could that be I usually do my own taxes because that’s how simple they are, I thought $100 max it ended up being $400 for 15 minutes of work again that I could have done for free and again a single parent already struggling but fine if I get a chance to get some funds early perfect, taxes done I should know with in an hour if approved and it will be loaded on a bank card great. Again no where did I see the print stating you had to have good credit otherwise you won’t get approved. Also my prep person. NEVER mentioned that or the cost up front. In the end I did not get approved due to some missed payments t so my credit score took a hit but if I had known the additional qualifications upfront I would have NEVER spent half my rent payment to a company that took 15 minutes to help me. VERY DISAPPOINTED

I submitted my tax documents online and was assigned a tax pro to work on my tax filing. A week has passed. I received no update. I didn't even know if anyone was working on my tax or not. I sent her a dozen messages but never got responded. I called H&R block customer services. After many long phone calls being directed from one department to another, they couldn't even help me reach this tax pro. All I want to know is if anyone is working on my tax or not. I was told the tax pro I was assigned is actually no longer accepting any appointment and the best thing they can do for me is to reassign me a new tax pro to work on my tax. What a waste of time. I am not going to use H&R block again.

I've used H&R Block for the past 4 years, and although it hasn't been perfect, it has been affordable. This year I have spent the past 11 weeks, yes 11 weeks attempting to complete my 2018 returns. Patrick M has promised me multiple times that he would complete my returns by the end of a particular day, only to contact me again having questions. He asks the same questions and appears to be incapable of navigating their system. I've called or dropped in multiple times, he's used the excuse that "THEY KEEP PILING TOO MUCH ON ME" as a justification for failing to complete my returns. I've left messages with the district manager, who failed to return my call, at any point, and also failed to effectively "call to action" the completion of my returns. Now after meeting with Patrick again this morning, he called back to tell me he does not have the information to complete the final few lines, argumentative and condescending tones were too much. I will apparently need to come by the office tomorrow for my documents and have them completed elsewhere. H&R Block has absolutely failed to complete a simple return, and attempting to contact the local leadership or corporate office has failed me again. This is beyond disgusting. Patrick should be evaluated, he is not competent and neither is the district manager Chris If this situation has lead to my inability to file returns thru this office and I'm not able to have my extension fees refunded, I'm afraid legal action will be my next step.

I was discriminated against by the District Manager and the Office manager, of my local H & R Block! Also the person that was suppose to be filling forms on my behalf DID NOT FILE them. I filed a complaint against them and was told that the District Managers Supervisor would get back with me. They DID NOT!! No one has gotten back with me!!! I have incurred late fee's and penalties from the IRS because they didn't do their job and file my forms!! Calling to get help or file a complaint was a waist of time because no cared and no they do not have your back!! nor are they the tax professionals you can trust!!!

My tax preparer based my taxes for my business off of gross income rather than net. I corrected him during our meeting and he said I was wrong. I returned with complaints about the amount I owed and he apologized and amended my taxes, so I was right all along. Now I'm dealing with constant letters from the IRS asking for this and that because of my amended taxes that could have been totally avoided if the tax preparer knew what he was doing. When I shared my story, my mom's friend said H&R Block has been doing her taxes based off of her gross income as well for years. What is the point of deductibles if they are not being recognized?? I will never have this joke of a company prepare my taxes again.

H&R Block peace of mind insurance is a scam. They say if you purchase the extra insurance it will back you up in the event of a audit. well for years we dropped off our information and let them handle our taxes to find out they where under reporting our income and we got audited. they said no worries your in good hands it was our error peace of mind will pay all your penalties and fees. but when the audits where over they were not cooperative and declined to give us any information saying we where declined the peace of mind and now we are stuck paying over $100,000 in penalties and fees. Do not fall for the scam seek a accountant for help in taxes in the long run will be much more cheaper then listening to H&R Block.

I filed my taxes with H & R Block for 3 years. The first 2 years were great overall. While I always thought the price was a little high, I was willing to pay it knowing our taxes had been done correctly. The third year is when it got insane. I brought in all correct tax paperwork and got the taxes filed by the same person who had done it the last 2 years. However, 3 months later, I got a letter from the state saying I owed an additional $1,000 than what I had been told at the time of filing my taxes. However, when I went to talk with the regional manager at H & R to get it resolved, they took no blame and said there is nothing they would do to help me resolve it. I tried calling their helpline to get resolution...still nothing. I will not be going back, nor will I recommend anyone go there for tax services.

I have used H and R Block many times in the past and had good experiences, however that was at other locations than the 625 Broadway in Bangor Maine location. I had some issues with my online filing and wanted to meet with an actual person to get it straightened out. The offices hours of operation are listed as 9-2 pm and I arrived at 1:00. I waited for several minutes for someone to help me, listening to people talk on phones in the background until a British manger named Tim came out, saw me, and told me someone would be with me shortly. He walked up to an office space containing an employee, and with both index fingers pointed up in the air, gave what looked like a "wrap it up" gesture. Moments later the employee, an elderly lady, came out of the cubical. With a sigh she asked how she could help me. While she let out her sighed question regarding my business, she did not look at me, she looked down at the watch on her wrist. I detailed that I had some problems with the online software and just wanted to file my taxes with a person so things would stop going wrong. Her actual response was "Oh we don't know about all that" still looking periodically at her watch to suggest that she did not have time for this. She went on to tell me that she did not know how all that "online mumbo jumbo" worked, and that she would ask her manager Tim in a couple of minutes if he knew anything about it, but she was pretty sure they could not help me and I needed to contact the IRS. I then waited calmly and patiently while she took a phone call. When she finished she re-approached me, looked into my eyes, down at her watch, and back to my eyes, and said "you know there's a person who works at another office that is a whiz with all that online stuff, she could probably help you on Thursday." When she looked to me, then to her watch, then back to me for the 5th time, I became angry. I told her I did not care about the online filing, nor did I need help with it, I wanted to file in person, and all that was required was for us to transfer the information form the web forms to whatever forms they needed to do an in the office return. I only needed to file a simple 1040ez, not a 1040 long form, but apparently if the office closes within 1 hour of the time you arrive you will be told that people do not know how to do that. Her manager Tim came out of the office next, ascertained that I was upset, and seemingly, being complicit with the "We don't work an hour within closing time" policy, told me that I could make an appointment to come back. At this point it was obvious that I would not be given any help and my time in the office had been wasted. I chose to leave without making an appointment because god forbid the time I set up is within a 5 hour window of someone going home. They may again pretend that they don't know what taxes are to get out of the possibility of staying 2 minutes over. Use Turbotax or Liberty Tax if you are in the area. Their software is better, and their customer service has to be miles above this "subtract 2 hours from closing time to determine our hours of operation" garbage.

I made appointment at the shoppers bestway woodbridge virginia office that was rescheduled once and cancelled on the day of appointment when I showed up in person. The manager Karen allowed a preparer that had no idea what she was doing. She kept asking other preparers for assistance, and over 2 hours later after her making numerous mistakes and me trying to point them out i gave up and just kept quiet as she tried to print and after 30 minutes trying she figured out how to print. I knew something was not right but she assured me it was because of new tax laws. I was told we owed more than 4k in taxes. I called H&R Corporate and explained all that happened and they agreed with me and they sent me to another office. They found that we only owed 1k (rounding numbers). I later found out after speaking to numerous people at H&R that the preparer that Karen allowed to prepare our taxes was NOT LICENSED nor did she have the training to do Business tax preparation. After numerous calls to speak to manager Karen I had to resort to threats of exposing what she did to the public to get her to except my phone calls. In the end H&R Corporate recognised what this office did to me was wrong and issued me a refund check. I have not received check yet but was called stating it was in the mail. Thank you H&R Corporate for doing the right thing. Karen you are by far the most unprofessional person I have had to deal with In H&R Block. P.S Thank You Syed from the Daniel S Sq. Office for fixing this mistake.

Having recently been diagnosed with early onset dementia, I opted to file on-line, as I can no longer drive. The process was efficient and easy except for a couple of questions that were ignored,.. until I was notified that my return was complete and finalized. AFTER I was informed that the process was finished, and AFTER I'd completed the satisfaction survey, I was then told that I needed to go back and look up info. from last year's tax return, which was prepared by H&R Block, and provide that info. to my "tax pro" . If not, my tax return would not be completed. H&R Block already has this information, but apparently did not care to take the time to look it up. That's why I'm paying them over $200.00 for their services! So... needless to say, at this point I'm confused and left wondering why I was told my return was complete when in fact, that wasn't true. I've trusted H&R Block to handle this for the past 6 years, and have spent a lot of money to insure that the IRS was satisfied. But given this confusing unprofessional transaction, I'm unsure of any future trust with this company.

I have been a H&R Block customer for years and twice now (most recent being the worst) had negative experiences using them. I was mischarged and with little explanation from the tax preparer as to WHY, so I had to call the H&R Block 1-800# to get answers. The first time this happened was almost 4yrs ago, but I since gave H&R Block another chance because they made it right and refunded me some money from where I was mischarged. Yesterday for my 2018 tax return, it was done to me again, and I was forced to pay a fee per a “bracket” I somehow fell into which was the highest I have ever had to pay to get my taxes done IN MY LIFE. The “bracket” was $139; the most I have ever paid in previous years for a simple tax return is $88 and I thought that was high - in addition to the $139 there was an extra $60 worth attached to that for a simple tax return fee total of $200. I was floored - why so much?! There was nothing special about my return and I agreed to no additional protections offered by H&R Block - it should have been a simple W2 tax return. I asked where the additional fee applied came from, because the “bracket” she claimed I fell into was only $139 and taxes on that can’t amount to THAT MUCH, but she dodged the question repeatedly. She was there alone, and I felt robbed and helpless, so I paid it. When I left I immediately called the H&R Block 1-800# but they were somehow unable to assist me like they had been in the past when this happened to me before, and this time the Customer Service Rep said someone would call me that next day at 11am. That next day came, I waited almost an hour by the phone, no call. So still anxious, I called the 1-800# AGAIN and was given NO EXPLANATION as to why I had not received my promised phone call, but the Rep said she would have someone call me the next day which put it now on a workday for me when I might miss the call. When I acted annoyed by having to wait, putting this off a entire additional day, she said she could have someone call me later that SAME DAY, she said she assumed I wanted to talk to someone “more informed” other than just anyone. That is so annoying. Why isn’t EVERYONE there at H&R Block informed?! Is everyone that works at H&R Block now clueless?! I replied, well I don’t want to talk to another person who doesn’t have a clue because I want answers, not more of my time wasted. So she said this same day phone call at 1:00 now since I failed to receive my “initial expected call at 11” will be able to get me the answers I need. But I won’t hold my breath. I am so pissed. If I don’t get the phone call at 1:00 I am escalating this to a Manager level. All I want to know is WHY I was charged so much. It’s not that serious, if they can’t do something as simple as THAT, then heck, how can anyone trust them to do their taxes?! She apologized for my experience thus far, but it did not sound sincere AT ALL, her voice sounded annoyed and trying to get me off the phone. I told her I knew it was not HER personally who caused the mess I have now found myself in, but I needed to vent because H&R Block failed me again. If this is the kind of customer service I can expect from H&R Block, with a name out there like they are THE trusted tax professional business, with all the fancy commercials advertising how reliable they are to do the RIGHT thing to get you THE MOST money on your return, to which I call - false advertisement, because this experience has proven to me that they hire ANYONE off the streets with little to no experience and then advertise them as “tax professionals.” I might as well use a mom&pop local tax preparer, but I expected more from H&R Block for who THEY are. I won’t make that mistake again. I don’t like doing business with a company that gives its customers “the runaround.”

Always a turbo tax user but decided to try H&R Block. The employee Vickie P in Mooresville NC who consulted me disregarded any attempt to enter itemized deductibles (school costs, landlord expenses, moving expenses, donations, etc). She did not tell me about the fees that she was charging until I asked after 35 minutes. (I found this dishonest and misleading since there are signs everywhere that say "upfront transparent pricing"). I was still forced to pay the $59 consult fee even though Vicki wasted my time. The Franchise owner David N was hostile and unhelpful. H&R Block did nothing for customer support. H&R would have gotten me $500, $350 of which would go to H&R for their fees. I went on Turbotax, took my time and itemized and got $1200 back paid $120. Go with Turbo Tax. H&R only wants to take your money with no actual work.

I WOULD NEVER RECOMMENDED H & R BLOCK TO ANYONE, AND I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN! Apparently my state taxes were denied and sent back, and no one ever told me. I called 4 times to see if they had submitted my state taxes yet, and all I ever got was "it is sitting with IT" Then one day I got a text/email saying it had gone through. I got my check and it was way less than what H & R Block told me I was getting back. When I called the local office (Florence, SC - West Evans St) all they pretty much told me is that someone should have called me and told me my refund was going to be lower than what they told me, and that there is nothing they can do. This is ridiculous! They could have at least called me before and let me know, so I would be expecting a lower amount. BUT NO, NOTHING! AGAIN, I WOULD NEVER RECOMMENDED H & R BLOCK TO ANYONE, AND I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN! I am very frustrated, irritated, and furious.

I did my taxes here twice, horrible mistake. The first time, the girl actually input half of my info wrong and it caused a mess and i did not end up receiving my return until SEPTEMBER! AND, i had to deal and solve/fix half of it, you would think h&r block would have taken that responsibility, but instead they ignored my calls and emails. Also, they lie about there prices! They will give you an estimated 'price', which seems great compared to other companies near by, but they only do that to hook you in, then at the end when they give you the prices, theres an added 50 fee for processing, another 50 fee for bank something, then an additional 120 because i had more than 1 w-2!!! i was so mad. Please dont be fooled by there fake reviews that they bought that you read online. and there fake pricing and fake kindness over the phone. they are liers and cheats!!!!

Went into local office and watched the so called pro enter numbers in online form. Same thing i could have done myself. Then charged 3 times the amount of the online product. Abdolutely a rip off for people going in to an office. Reason for going into local office was wanting explanation as to why TurboTax and H&R was giving me different result when putting in identical numbers in forms. Instead of answering my question goes ahead and reenters figures all over again.

2019 tax season they offer a $3,000 max refund advance. Normally I use turbo tax's free program successfully every year. But my wife and I are moving out of state in a week, long story short. Needed the money needed it now. Went to H&R block for the advance program. We were getting $5,200 fed, $1,200 state. They're advance program IS NOT AUTOMATIC it's based upon approval. Which I wonder what they go off of because married filing jointly no kids, both credit scores 750 or higher making $80,000 a year. And getting near $6,500 total back. On top of that our federal return and state had already been accepted so they know the moneys coming. We didnt even get approved for $500. Not a penny, so spent $358 for literally nothing. I could have done that myself. Even the service was horrible. All around bad experience, waste of money time and gas. AND THEYRE ADVANCE PROGRAM IS A SCAM

DO NOT USE THE ONLINE FILING SERVICE! They are having issues and my state return was rejected. I was told by the first person I talked to that many people are having this issue. THEN I was being sent to "tier two support" they gave me the run around saying I had changed my federal... I had not. Then told me I have to paper file. I asked for a return for the money I had paid to e-file then since it was clearly an issue on their end. She said they cant do that. When I asked to speak to a manager I was told there was not one there at that time. I asked when to call back she told me she didn't know he wasn't around much. So I paid them FOR NOTHING.

The North Austin Office on Burnet Road @ Anderson Lane incorrectly completed our 2016 return with a significant error causing us to refile and incurring a $298.43 interest penalty which they said we had to pay and that they would refund the interest penalty to us. Their guarantee claim says they will pay those penalties. After we paid it to the IRS and provided the local H&R office manager a copy of the payment check to the IRS, the local office manager agreed and submitted a "Form 2228" refund request twice to their HQ POM Claims department (pomclaims@hrblock.com). I was copied on the email requests Form 2228 sent by the local office. Even after the local office sent the request twice (2-27-18 and 4-6-18) and I sent two additional messages to both their HQ (POM Claims department) and the local office, NO REFUND PAYMENT HAS BEEN MADE! DO NOT TRUST H&R BLOCK. THEY DO NOT LIVE UP TO THEIR GUARANTEES!

We have ben using h r block for years because they were friendly and always seemed to know wat they was doing plus the added peace of mind was a really good thing to have or at least we thought it last year on our taxes when we filed there employee forgot to add one of the w2 we had and we didn’t realize it so this year when we filled the lady caught the mistake and and told us that the one that did our taxes last year had not added all of our w2 but she assured us it should b no big deal because we had payed for the peace of mind and it would cover that so we went home and got in our folder of taxes from the year before and got the w2 and took it back up to the lady that done our taxes this year and she fixed the other persons mistake and filled a claim with peace of mind about a week later I received a phone call saying they wasn’t gona cover it because I should have checked to make sure it was all entered in there which is crazy if I pay someone 300 dollars to do taxes and take everything to them I expect them to be a professional and know what they are doing I shouldn’t have to double check a professionals work especially when it’s something I know nothing about I am deeply dissatisfied and would never recommend them to anyone now I’m left to pay 1800 on top of the 300 I payed them to file the taxes the peace of mind is a joke even there employee that fixed the mistake said she could not believe they would not fix the problem and stand behind tgere work I hope in the future this can prevent someone from getting robbed like I did

I went in to have my taxes done by the "tax experts." I was behind a couple years, the lady at the front was helpful with her information (some not accurate). I dropped everything off and told her i didn't have all my T4 slips yet for 2017. She said that was fine and they would get them online. I got called down to come pick up my taxes and they weren't actually ready, I do live 20 minutes away from the office. Got called back 3 days later and went into sign everything(not even with the accountant, not once did i actually speak to the person who did my taxes) and was handed a VISA card that my money would be put onto, not only did i NOT ask for this you have to actually pay to get your money off of this card. I asked them to please fix it for me as i did not want the card and they said everything was sent away already and there was nothing they could do. I went home and realized they also did NOT put all my T4 slips in my 2017 year and only put my part time slip on there. I called them right away took all my stuff back in only to be told they could not do anything and i would have to wait until i was audit by the government. I also received 4 letters in the mail stating i now owed money. I called into the Head office to tell them my experience as i was extremely unimpressed with my experience as i was not offered the guarantee and i paid a lot of money to have my taxes done to be done incorrectly. He told me that my T4 slips were not accessible(which was a lie) and not on the internet for them to be able to do my taxes. I called Canada Revenue Agency and they said they were there and all in there by March 1 so they were clearly there. I than made another complaint to have someone call me to see what could be done to assist me in fixing my taxes as they were extremely screwed up. I filed that the second week of April and someone called me May 31. Since than i have asked CRA to review my taxes. The only thing the head office could offer me was for me to return to the branch i had filed my taxes with and have them review it and fix it, however when i tried that in April i was told they could not help me. Now we are 2 months after i have got my taxes back and they expected me to just sit back and wait. Customer service is lack there of. --- So not only did HnR block happily take my money for my taxes, they DIDNT even do them properly. I paid for services i did not receive. This place is a scam and i would never want the same thing to happen to someone else. Save yourself the money and hire someone who actually knows what they are doing. Dont waste your money or your time, I will NEVER go back nor refer anyone to use this company.

I purchased the deluxe Federal and State software online 11/4/17 and paid extra for the extended download. Wanted to do my taxes today. Had the activation code but no option to install/download the software. I called HRB 3 times for assistance. Waited at least 20 minutes each time before being able to speak with a rep. The first one gave me another code but said I would have to pay extra for the extended download even though she had proof I had paid for it already. When I objected she thought it was funny as I could hear her snickering to another person in the background. I then attempted to download the program however it wouldn’t download. After another half hour attempt to contact someone another girl answered and I was cut off when she tried transferring me. After another 20-30 minutes of waiting for a human after getting though robo boy I finally got a rep who was helpful. All in all nearly 3 hours of my life wasted with this BS. After completing my returns the program wouldn’t allow me to efile my state return because of a glich in the program. I had to mail my return even though New York State requires you to efile your state return if you efiled your federal. I have used H &R Block software the past few years with few problems. I will NEVER use their program again after wasting my entire day and going through the aggravation I went through today.

Making a Difficult Task Impossible. I've used H&R Block downloaded software for years - this on line experience was a disaster. The program itself was poor. Click on "Need More Help?" by a topic - get sent to the main help menu. Then you have to guess where your topic might be listed. Often, when I found the correct area - there was no information. No "Auto Fill" - I had to re-enter the name of my donation site 8 times. Getting help from tech services - they will create a "case" and get back to you in 24 - 48 hours. Try getting a chat with a tax adviser - they were not available when their schedules said they would be, and it took 5 hours to actually get a response to my chat request. The "Donation Value Calculator" is an awkward program and it has a ridiculously small number of items. If you try to put in your own items and values, it might just erase all the other enteries you made! The price keeps going up as you go along. "Now that you've finished you state taxes, would you like to pay us $36.99 - or erase it and do it yourself?" I went with H&R Block after remembering my previous experiences with them and reading reviews that raved about the support. It was hard to even find out how to connect, then took hours to do so, and ultimately, I knew more about the topic than my "tax adviser" (She did help me change an entry on a form.) At the end with my receipt, I was sent an email with a link, inviting me to write a review. True to form, when I clicked on the link, I went to an H&R Block web page telling me all about their various services and programs. There was no place to write a review.

Hello. My name is Chris, I do not make a lot of money but I have managed to make do with what I have. In fact, the most I made in a year was in the upper end of twenty thousand. However, H&R Block always managed to maximize the refund amount I receive each year. I have used H&R Block every year since 2005, and have always been happy with the service. Back in 2012, I struggled financially and have fallen back paying debts. Emerald Bank credit card was one of those obligation that I was not able to keep up with. Subsequently, I have fallen behind and completely forgotten about it. Moreover, I wished that it will all just go away. It did not. After six years, it caught up with me. Although, I do not deny that I owed money and that it is something that I eventually have to settle, the timing was awful. I finished nursing school last December, hoping to do better and face all of these monetary obligations. Indeed, I was about to take the California nursing board this month, paying the fees with the anticipated refund but the past caught up with me. I probably deserve that. However, I wish H&R Block / Emerald Bank had given me notice beforehand, or could have taken what I owe back in 2013 or 2014 or 2015 maybe 2016 or should have been in 2017 instead of 2018. This year's federal refund is money that I will never see along with the allotted spending plan. Hence, H&R Block / Emerald Bank sequestering my refund pushes my nursing board testing date further back. This may be legal and I even concede that it is rightful, but where is your heart. H&R Block / Emerald Bank, where is my refund?

After 20 years of using H&R Block to do my taxes I will never use their services again. They gave me misinformation and charged me 4 time what I should have been charged. When I opened a ticket with their support team to look into my issue I was told I would be contacted in a couple of days, but no one called. When I called to check the status myself after 2weeks I was told it hadn't been looked at and to call their escalations team. When calling the escalations team I was met by a very rude agent that cut me off after every other word and could only say I wouldn't be refunded my fees. I never asked for refund... I also used their Emerald card for the first time and I am finding that they are holding my return for I can only assume interest purposes. The IRS shows my refund as being sent and in all the years past has been deposited to my bank account with out issue that same day. Very suspicious. I try to call to get more info from them and get nothing but the run around. I WILL NEVER USE H&R Block again and would not recommend my worst enemy to use their services.

Contrary to their moto, you do not get your taxes won, you lose money because not all deductions and exemptions are available online. I was using the Deluxe edition and could not find the Dependent exemption. My son turned 17 . We no longer qualify for the child tax credit but we qualify for the dependents expention because he is in school full time. It lowers our taxable income by $4050 and gives us a few hundred more on our refund or lowers are tax liability by a couple of hundreds. For weeks I kept contacting the chat group only to be told it's automatic and all parents get it. NO it's not and not all parents with children 17 to 24 get it. Some may have a job therefore they may not qualify. The alleged tax experts have no clue even thought i kept telling them the exemption goes on line 6a 6b and 42 or the 1040 but the program or online software is not taking us there. I saved my chats and will publish them so people can see that the people you chat with have no clue about anything I went into one of their locations and sure enough the lady was able to pull it but at the end she told me i had to pay $345.... So they hide deductions so they can charge you hundreds for something you can do online in a few minutes I DO NOT RECOMMEND H&R BLOCK... GET YOUR TAXES AND RUN

I am recommending against ANYONE using this software. My 2016 taxes were nearly done and all saved, and I put the filing on hold for 2 months because life got crazy with my 3 jobs. I logged in this month to complete filing to discover that 100% of my tax info had been deleted. Support was incredibly hard to find, and on day 2 of no apparent online support option and a robot over the phone who did not answer my question, I finally found a Twitter account called H&R Block Answers. I was told by support that I would have to start all over again since they are preparing 2017 tax forms currently. There was absolutely NO email or any notifying me that this was happening. How do you just delete extensive tax info without warning?? How is that any way to run an accounting business? SO angry right now.

I ended up stumbling upon H&R Block's online tax prep software after getting upset with the nickel and dime approach of TurboTax. Did a great job and was easy to use.

A Warning to everyone out there who uses H&R Block to prepare their taxes. We have been using H&R for years we assumed they understood and knew how to prepare small business taxes. We were so wrong they have been doing our state taxes wrong for years. We were audited for the past 4 years. We paid every year for their so called audit insurance. They would not help us at all said the insurance would not help. We had to pay $19801.00 we had to sell one of our work trucks and take out a loan. We found out they did not know about the new laws that came into effect in 2013. The owner admitted this and said they were training their employees in small business taxes. The owner blamed us for not knowing the tax laws, why were we paying them so much money every year to prepare our taxes.

I am never one to leave reviews for anything. But this was the absolute worst experience I have ever had with a company of ANY KIND. I am writing this at 11:39pm before the tax deadline. I paid for a service where someone looks at your tax forms, approves, then sends to you to file. I did this a week ago, well before the deadline. Not only did no one look at it, I had to CHASE THEM DOWN multiple times to even get any sort of update. I called, nobody knew anything, and they kept referring me to other people in an endless spiral of incompetence. Now, I'm probably going to MISS MY TAX DEADLINE BECAUSE OF THEM. Which is hilarious, because I paid them $180 to make sure everything was filed correctly. But, apparently, this company can't do this for you. DO NOT FILE YOUR TAXES WITH THEM. This was the most horrible experience EVER.

We have used H&R Block for 4 years. As far as we knew our Tax representative had done a great job. Every year we paid over $800 for our taxes to be prepared by and H&R professional. Last year we received a letter from the IRS stating that for our 2014 taxes we did not file a W-2. We immediately went in to the H&R Block local office and took all of our paperwork with us to show that we had provided all of our W-2s to the H&R Block tax professional for that tax year. The local office Supervisor advised us to pay the $3,045 (fees included) and said we should receive a check from the Peace of Mind department within 2-3 weeks. This was in December. After a very painful process, no peace of mind what so ever our claim was denied. So not only did we pay over $800 for our taxes to get filed that year, their rep made a mistake and we had to pay $3,045 (almost $2k in fees) dollars above what our original tax bill a year later. We bought an insurance that is supposed to protect us and make us trust this company. This process has left us feeling taken advantage of, it was a true waste of our time. Very disappointed in their customer service, process, and ability to explain anything. Let me just re-irate that we spent 5 months waiting, had to make multiple trips back to the local office to submit copies, many phone call, all so they can deny claim for a mistake they created. This peace of mind process is a joke. Thank you for taking my money and making a fool of me! Do not buy their insurance, do not use their tax services, they are a joke! Another big corporation taking advantage of the little guy!

The peace of mind that they sell is crap. Had to do a amended return for the previous year because the tax preparer failed to enter in social security income therefore, making for a bigger refund. The mistake was caught in the next tax year. Had to pay out of pocket for federal tax due and had a refund from the state tax. The peace of mind program states that it nets between federal and state tax., in other words it means that since I paid federal tax owed and was to receive reimbursement from peace of mind and get a bigger refund from the state H&R Block subtracted my state refund from the federal reimbursement so I got the shaft and they got to keep the difference. Will never go to H&R Block again!!

My company buys H&R block for me every year because I work in so many different states and my taxes can get tricky pretty quickly. However, I would be better off getting a monkey to do my tax returns. Last year my personal H&R tax guy put my full ride scholarship down as TAXABLE income. So I was floored when I suddenly owed close to 1k when in actuality I was supposed to be receiving money. I'm just now getting back what I deserved last year after hiring someone else to do my amended return for me. I guess I should have checked his work more closely but I assumed that he would be able to do my taxes correctly since it's his JOB and everything. I got the same dope this year and he continues to amaze me with how terrible he is at his job. He's always wrong when directing me in the portal and he incorrectly uploads documents. This year I checked him more closely to find mistakes with reporting the interest I paid on my student loans. How can someone be this terrible at his job and still have a job?! I might as well get turbotax or something

I usually do my taxes myself online. Simple 1040A. This year I needed my refund faster so I thought I would let H&R Block do them and just get a refund advance. First let me tell you that $332 is ridiculous! They actually had the nerve to charge me $298 to do my taxes and $34.95 to do a refund transfer to have the fees taken directly from my refund. I was willing to pay those ridiculous amounts just to get the advance. Well don't fall for this scam. The advance is a loan from a bank for which you must have great credit. They don't tell you that. It is not an advance from H&R Block. Oh and the loan? They don't even tell you how much you might get until after your taxes are filed and then they text you within 24 hours to let you know if you get the loan and how much it will be for. It is just a ploy to take advantage of the neediest people that would require that loan. Once they con you into letting them do your taxes at the hope of getting an advance, you're out $332 and still have no advance. The loan has nothing to do with your taxes at all!!! In fact, you have no idea what your fees are until they are done with your taxes. I could of just filed my taxes for free online! In fact I had to correct the "Tax Pro" when she told me I couldn't claim an exemption. She argued with me and finally called someone and they told her she was wrong. So now I'm paying for bad advice and being conned into thinking they are doing me a favor. This is a complete and blatant ripoff! I will be posting this all over the internet to warn people. In fact I think a class action law suit is in order. Oh, here is another piece of information you may not know. Anyone filing a return with EIC or Child Tax Credit this year will not have their returns processed until after Feb. 15th. Thanks to last years fiasco with fraudulent returns. So even though the IRS accepts returns beginning Jan 23, they won't process returns with EIC or Child Tax Credit until after Feb 15th.

We used H&R Block for our taxes in 2013 and 2014. Our first year was great, no problems. When we went back the second year, our tax preparer was not there any more, and we were referred to someone who had years of experience. Because she was older, she was used to the previous version of their computer software, and was having a great deal of trouble using the new software. She wasn't able to answer our questions, and we were not at all confident that she knew what she was doing. After she was finished, I went to the restaurant next door to review everything. Sure enough, she had made a huge error: not including my income, only listing my husband's pension. We have switched to another company, who helped us through a complex tax year in 2015.

I was promised a refund of processing fees by the Manager at the H&R Block branch in the North Penn Marketplace in Lansdale, PA for an incorrectly processed return by a tax professional I had used for many years at that branch. That branch is currently closed for the off-season. The Customer Service number, and another local branch, refuse to honor the refund I was promised by their Manager for the processing fees as I did not give them an opportunity to fix it. The Manager never once mentioned that to me as being a condition, but only mentioned the refund could take a few weeks because it would come from their Corporate Office. I didn't want to them to process it again incorrectly! How can you promise me a refund after seeing the mistake when re-filed by a CPA the following year, agreeing that it was a mistake and then go back on what you said? I had to pay the new CPA $375 to re-file the 2014 return on top of the initial $400 to H&R Block for their filing fees. Poor Customer Service all around. Recanted promises, rude employees, lying employees and Customer Service cases opened and never receiving calls. I will NEVER recommend H&R Block to anyone. It's a shame as I had been using them for over 10 years to process all of my returns and never had an issue until now.

I have used H&H Block online for 7 years. This is the first year I needed to use the audit support. What sort of joke is that? It's huge!!! First, once you finally DO get to the right person to help you (which is no easy task), then they assign you a case number. I called back 2 weeks later to be sure they received my fax. They couldn't tell "it hadn't updated yet", but I can call back in a couple more weeks and check in. So, I go through the endless phone menu again and finally get back to an audit person. It took me 2 tries to get to the correct person. This time he tells me the same thing, "That he can't tell if they are working on it or not because the system had yet to update". Really? That's 4 weeks later and they can't even tell me if they are looking at any of it. The state wanted me to resolve this in 30 days...We are well past that now. My solution is that I will communicate with the State myself and probably have it resolved in a week. I THOUGHT this was why I was using HR Block, but clearly that is a ruse. I will not use them for my taxes next year....

The worse company you can go to fill your tax. Never trust them. We went to the branch in quebec- saint-foy 17 days before the deadline. They got our document and said we will call you ASAP to come and sign the document. They did not call. After 10 days we came back to follow our documents. They said it will be ready on monday. I called them monday, early in the morning, they said it will be ready by 5. We called at 3 p.m. They said it is not ready. Finally, we came back to them. After 1 h they said it said it will be ready next wednesday .... Because there is a problem .... . Finally, another person come and said it will be ready in 1hr. Nobody was even open our document till that time. Finally, they filled the form but they charged us two times more than the regular price. They are not responsible at all. Neeeeeeveeeeeer go there. Highly recommended.

H&R Block was the worst experience I ever had for filing my taxes. I always file my taxes on time with no penalties. This year I decided to go to H&R Block because of their promotion of paying half the fee from last year return. I went to one location in east orange with the H&R Block tax preparer Laura and she failed to file my federal income taxes correctly by not submitting my health coverage. I received a letter in the mail from IRS to submit the paperwork she missed. When I called H&R block customer service they couldn't help me and they took down my complaint and told me someone will contact me in 7- 10 business days. This was unbelievable when I heard this. I will never file my taxes with H&R Block ever again! And I warn you to not fall for any promotions they have so you won't have to get audited by the IRS.

This was a terrible experience for me filing my taxes this year. Not only did I have to make three separate trips, they continued messing up. I ended up getting screwed out of $500 in the end because of how unprofessional and uneducated the lady was that helped me. Susan in Lancaster was the tax accountant that screwed me over and didn't care whatsoever that she messed up several times. The first time I called in to ask what I needed for my tax appointment, I never received a return phone call. Second, I brought in last year's proof of insurance along with this years. I was told I didn't need either of them but that was untrue. On top of that, she was completely rude and called me while I was walking into my appointment. I asked why she was calling and she said to see where I was even though I was perfectly right on time! I would never recommend h&r to anyone, ever. I really hope that people take these reviews into consideration if they like holding on to their money.

I wouldn't advise anyone to go to the H&R Block office located at Thompson Lane and Murfreesboro Pike.they are supposed to be professional tax services but not very professional at all they messed my taxes up after I waited four weeks I got a letter from IRS hrblock messed up my taxes I had to go back over there for them to amend my taxes after they fixed it and sent it back online going to be another 6 to 8 weeks so I'm waiting 3 months on my income tax if you don't mind waiting 3 months for your income tax then go ahead and go to H&R Block but if you need your money like I do I wouldn't advise you to go there

This year was the 4th season that I worked for block. I changed to a different office this year because I moved. Not only was I treated badly by the office leader. I was fired after my therapist told me that it was a very unsafe working environment for me.I tried to convey this to my supervisor, and she demanded my resignation. When I refused to give her my resignation and simply wanted to be taken off the schedule, she fired me instead. This woman never checked at my previous office and I have been out for 3 years, never called my former supervisors, and never bothered to ask about my previous experience. She simply assumed that she could not trust me. My experiences at the old office that I worked at were very very happy experiences, I felt like we were a family.because of this experience I will not be returning to block for a very long time. Black has done my taxes for 15 years now, I am sorry to say that I will not have them done there again.

I used H&R Block a handful of times when my taxes were simple and I only had one job. I went in person to a local office. The process was very simple and I had no issues with my return, but I didn’t feel like they took much time to educate me or ask me questions specific to my industry that could have potentially found additional deductions.
