Uptown Solar appears to be out of business.
According to public corporate filings, the Houston-based solar installer appears to have closed its doors for good in 2019. Consequently, some of the information in this review may be out of date or inaccurate. You can still view our list of top-rated solar companies in your area by visiting our solar home page.
Founded in 2009, Uptown Solar focuses on providing sustainable, cost-effective solar solutions. The company offers residential and commercial services in California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Montana, South Carolina, and Texas.
Uptown Solar offers a wide variety of payment options to best fit the needs of each individual customer. These options include outright purchase, loan, and PPA. Outright purchases are beneficial for customers with cash on hand who would like to see high financial returns. Loans are a good option for customers who are interested in solar ownership but do not have the capital to pay for the system upfront. PPAs work well for customers who do not want the responsibility of owning a solar system but would like to save money on utility bills each month.
Many solar companies only offer services in one state. However, Uptown Solar offers its solar services in nine states: California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Montana, South Carolina, and Texas.
Uptown Solar works with several reputable partners, including California First Efficiency Financing, Clean Power Finance, NAHB, Hero, Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), EnergyStar, Ygrene Works, Sunnova, and Sunrun.
As of April 2023, Uptown Solar does not appear to have a functional website. Additionally, the company’s social media accounts have been long dormant, with its most recent Twitter post occurring all the way back in 2010, and its most recent Facebook post taking place in 2013. Not only does the solar provider’s near-total lack of online presence make learning about the company difficult for potential customers, but it also may inhibit existing Uptown Solar customers from getting the support they need.
Unfortunately, not many verified Uptown Solar reviews are available online. As of April 2023, only one Uptown Solar customer has posted a review to Best Company. The company does not appear to have any reviews on Google, and only three reviews on Yelp that are at best mixed and inconclusive.
The lack of verified reviews poses several problems, both for the company in question as well as for homeowners evaluating different solar installers, as these reviews contain critical information regarding the company’s customer service, installation speed and quality, and system performance.
If you are a current or former Uptown Solar customer, we encourage you to share your experience by leaving a review below.
Uptown Solar is a newer company that provides services in nine states. While the company offers several payment options and is partnered with a variety of reputable organizations, the lack of online presence and verified reviews may discourage some customers from investigating the company further.
We're on a mission to empower consumers to make the best decisions and connect confidently with companies that deserve their business.
