My solar installation went very smoothly. First I was little upset why they are taking so long, but I was wrong. It really takes long time as so many steps are involved in it the installaion. Just to install the panels takes only 1 to 2 days, but lot of things go behind the scenes that I didn't know.

Solar Optimum told me the truth. The system was installed properly, works as specified and my property was treated respectively. What more can anyone ask for?

I was pushing things to move faster (to be expected from a customer), and sales rep emailed someone internally that I am 'tired of hearing,' (read: that I am not capable of understanding what they have explained before). They designed a system for our needs and workers to our home to set it all up. They installed it and had the city inspectors check their work and all passed with flying colors. They answered any questions we had and even came out two times to make sure all things were going right. They flipped the switch and it all work like it should.

On Monday, 12/4/2023 Solar Optimum completed the installation of our solar system that consisted of panels and batteries. We are extremely pleased with the experience from the beginning to the end. Our journey began with twelve vendors; we narrowed it down to three before ultimately choosing Solar Optimum. They were reasonable priced, and the process took only two months from the time the contract was signed to receiving permission to operate (PTO). Our Solar Consultant Mikkel M was very knowledgeable and walked us through the entire process. Davey W the account coordinator provided the best service. He was always available and when I left messages, he got back to me immediately and addressed our concerns. When we received the first draft of the layout, we had some questions and change requests which Gina S from the project team addressed and updated the design. Once the design was approved, Solar Optimum took care of all the behind-the-scenes tasks, e.g., permits, city approvals, utility interconnection, etc. The installation was then scheduled, and the equipment arrived first thing that morning as planned. The crew showed up, worked into the evening, and completed the entire installation all in one day! The crew worked efficiently and neat and cleaned up everything before they left. The inspection was then scheduled for Monday the following week arriving sometime between 8am and 5pm. The representative from Solar Optimum arrived at 7:30am. He powered on the system, tested, and performed all the configurations. By 10am the inspector arrived, and we passed! PTO followed the very next day, and the monitoring app was up and running. Additionally, Hannah O helped us tie up the loose ends (warranty info, invoicing, etc.) and made sure we were completely satisfied with the product. Thanks to the Solar Optimum team for going above and beyond expectations.

The Panasonic panels work great, and the Enphase system is especially good, providing a web site with all the information you could want on how the system is performing. My only issue was with the installation, which is not done by Solar Optimum employees, but by contractors. Better quality control is needed.

Workmanship was fine; establishing the project had several major problems. I never had an estimator come out before the bid, so the proposed system was too big for my electrical. I ended up with fewer panels with less output for the same amount of money. Additionally, the information that I have a huge shade tree planted on one end of the house was not communicated, so now I will have to spend $1000 to move the tree if I want my panels to continue to run at full power.

They used third party contractor to dig a trench and repair access. The guy did a poor job and it took about two months to get that done right, despite prompt from me and Solar Optimum. Weather had a hand in it. But third party guy was 85% and the company 15% got hiring someone who takes no pride in his workmanship. .

They offered choices of panels used, designed a system that cost much less than the other quotes I received based on actual power needs. Solar optimum did a great job with my solar project- I got a lot of quotes and did tons of research prior to moving forward- I decided to go with solar optimum because of the demeanor and the pricing was by far the best by $8K while providing the most comprehensive material and service warranty. Sure the red tape and regulations imposed in California took some time- but solar optimum did everything necessary to secure NEM2.0 deal with the utility and the construction actually took no time at all 2 days- 1 for solar, second for upgrading my main panel. I got 32 panels and they have been really supplying home with nearly all of my needs. They also have Panasonic panels and the best inverters in the residential game (emphase). I love my system as now I am able to save some extra month to month. I am definitely looking to add batteries through them! My favorite thing about solar optimum is their friendliness and their service, it's not a money grab for them- they actually care about their customers.

After negotiating with 4 companies this year I finally went with the Solar Optimum team due to the expertise, quality of equipment and price which seemed to be the best of the companies I dealt with. Installation was just completed 7/3/23. The team took care of all interactions with city and NVenergy, except i coordinated with my HOA, which was very helpful through the whole process, permits and inspections. There was a minor issue initially with 4 panel connections which the local team, led by Zhora, immediately responded by taking care of the problem. Had another issue when my internet connection was lost and didn't reconnect to the Enphase module which reports system status. This was resolved by Zhora working with the Optimum customer service home team and now everything is working smoothly. I wanted to thank the local team, led by Zhora, for quality installation, responsiveness to take care of these hiccups, communication and overall exceptional customer service from everyone I've dealt with at Solar Optimum. Very impressed with the process from start to finish and even more importantly how responsive the teams have been to ensure system is continuing to perform and certainly one of the best customer service companies I dealt with in a long time. We selected Solar Optimum after a failed contract with another installer. We are extremely glad that we did. Solar Optimum's customer service has been exceptional. They returned all of our calls promptly, kept their commitments, and kept us informed. Their installation team went above and beyond. As an example, our local utility was delayed by 4.5 hours for the power turn on after the meter and panel upgrade. Solar's Optimum's team member Robert and Andrew stayed on site to ensure that we would have power. Since we live in the California desert, getting the power back on was critical. Solar Optimum also did an outstanding job of managing the process with our HOA, utility, and county permitting authorities. We highly recommend Solar Optimum. They are first class.

I am very happy with my Solar Optimum project on 6/10/2023 in Pacifica/Daly City, CA. I had previously signed on with another company in order to make the NEM2.0 deadline. However, I was taken aback by the amateur, unprofessionalism, and speed salesman tactics from this company. Fortunately, I was able to walk away and sign up with Juan A at Solar Optimum. Immediately I received professional emails and notifications. They quickly put my applications together and design (8.8kw + Tesla Powerwall 2). The actual installation was not till later (2 months); however, I was fine by that since I still got NEM2.0 approved. When installation came, I was thoroughly impressed with the crew (Kien T). They were quick, efficient, kind, and courteous. They even painted the conduit and walls. No tattooed prison freaks. I was able to leave them unattended. All in all, I will seek out Solar Optimum for future projects (if I get another house) and I will refer them to my family and friends! Thanks, Solar Optimum. Now time to make PG&E pay ME.

My house needed extensive renovations, which took place in 2019-20. My general contractor brought in a subcontractor to install solar panels, but I could not afford a Powerwall at that time. When I finally could, I called the installer, but his company was unable to procure one. That's when I found Solar Optimum. They were easy to work with, and the cost was close to what my original installer had bid. They took care of everything, including inspection by my small city's infamously picky inspectors. The man who installed the Powerwall was not only meticulous, but willing to explain everything to me during the installation process. Everyone I spoke with by phone during the process was helpful and answered all my questions as they arose. My only job was writing checks and using the labels Solar Optimum provided to FedEx them. I highly recommend this company.

I started this solar project at mid-Jan 2023, and tried to beat the Apr’s California NEM 2.0 deadline. The whole process is very quick and smooth. Solar optimum provides very very competitive price comparing to other big name solar companies. Since everyone tries to install solar before NEM2.0 cutoff time, I have to keep close contact to Solar Optimum to make sure I didn’t miss any documents or waste any time. All the people I talked to are very knowledgeable, professional. They guide me step by step to complete whole process including some design change and financial question. I will highly recommend Solar Optimum to others.

If you are looking for the best solar company in California, you can stop now and save yourselves time and frustration. I already did that for you. When I decided it was time to have solar panels, I did extensive research on multiple companies. Very good interactions with people in sales, site survey, and program management. Clear explanations of cost and several options before signing the contract; good discussion of the overall scope. Excellent communications throughout the project. The replaced roof looks great and held well through the first major rains. The installations of solar panes including the auxiliary equipment and the service panel went smoothly. City and PG&E inspections were passed without any need for changes. We were always informed about the next steps after completion of major tasks. The interface that gives us information on power production and consumption is easy to use. Last but not least, the system works as well as we expected.

Solar Optimum was not the cheapest option of the roughly 10 I evaluated, but they were the least expensive for decent hardware and a good reputation that I was able to infer from both energy sage reviews, and slews of external reviews (including various online forum discussions). The reputation is well earned. For reference, in Southern California (SCE territory) we had a 10kw system installed along with 2 powerwalls for whole home backup and critter guards added, but this happened as it turned out in the middle of the last throws of NEM 2.0 before NEM 3.0 took over. Downsides: * The entire process took a long time (a bit over 6 months from the start of initiating contact until PTO) * There were quite a few delays getting parts and it required a few phone calls to try to get updates and gently encourage the process through. * Really, that's it. Upsides: * Everyone was courteous and professional even in the middle of the previously mentioned deluge due to the ending of NEM 2.0. * Everything was done *extremely* well. Indeed, the city inspector commented that it was one of the cleanest installs he had ever seen. (along with one of the first whole home backup systems he had seen) * The system is performing a bit above the promised specs and since we received PTO (about 6 weeks ago) there hasn't been a single problem with any of it. * When I started the process I asked about the possibility of getting SGIP rebates for the powerwalls (self-generation incentive program in California). I knew that few companies do this now, and it's very difficult to get in there. Solar Optimum told me that they could not make any promises, but they would try. Indeed, they have and it looks like we will get it (and they are still working on this AFTER we paid our balance in full!). Obviously, this does not guarantee anything going forward other than they really do try. * While there were delays on parts (likely some artifacts of the supply chain issues of 2021-2022), they were VERY much on top of the paperwork. They filed the necessary paperwork to reserve NEM 2.0 with our electric company MONTHS in advance and well before the install was completed. I don't doubt that some have had bad experiences with Solar Optimum. It's bound to happen given a big enough organization and enough customers, but even with the delays, I'm very glad to have gone with them and I'm glad to recommend them.
