The Good

  • Additional Solar Services
  • “Top 500 Solar Contractor”
  • NABCEP Certified
  • Available Loans
  • Charitable Efforts

Additional Solar Services

In addition to solar PV systems, Elemental Energy provides a number of supplemental services to help customers save on their utility bill:

  • Solar Energy Storage — Elemental Energy gives customers the option to add solar energy backup to their PV system. This includes backup batteries like the LG Chem as well as the Tesla Powerwall — of which Elemental Energy is a certified installer. Solar energy storage is quickly becoming one of the most sought after add-ons to a solar panel system, as it allows the homeowner to harness excess solar power to be used at night or in the event of a power outage.
  • EV Power Charging Stations — On top of battery storage, Elemental Energy also installs charging stations for electric vehicles, which allows customers to divert the electricity produced by their solar energy system toward powering their electric vehicles.
  • Electrical Services — Elemental Energy was founded by electricians, so the company’s offering of high-quality residential electrical services should come as little surprise.

“Top 500 Solar Contractor”

Elemental Energy has been named a “Top 500 Solar Contractor” by Solar Power World magazine every year from 2012 to 2020. This designation is awarded to rooftop contractors and other solar installers that have proven influential in their respective markets. To date, Elemental energy has installed more than 30,000 kilowatts of clean, renewable energy in both Oregon and Washington State combined.

NABCEP Certified

Elemental Energy has been certified by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP), an industry-recognized organization that authors some of the most rigorous certification programs today. A certification from the NABCEP indicates that a solar installer company is maintaining best practices and industry standards, and customers can trust they will be receiving a solar panel system that is up to code and built to last.

Available Loans

Elemental Energy provides Oregon and Washington customers full disclosure of all the solar incentives and credits available to them, as well as the Puget Sound Cooperative Credit Union Energy-Smart Loan:

  • For Oregon Customers — starting at 4.49 percent fixed rate financing, up to $35,000 with no prepayment penalties
  • For Washington Customers — starting at 4.25 percent fixed rate financing, up to $50,000 with no prepayment penalties

Charitable Efforts

Elemental Energy’s Twende Solar program is a non-profit organization focused on providing clean energy and clean water to developing communities in Africa and Central America.

The Bad

  • Undisclosed Workmanship Warranty
  • No Lease or PPA Options
  • Limited Availability

Undisclosed Workmanship Warranty

One area in which Elemental Energy could be more transparent is regarding its workmanship warranty, which protects systems against installation errors. Leading solar companies attach workmanship warranties to their solar installations that last up to 25 years, or the life of the system.

No Lease or PPA Options

Elemental Energy does not appear to offer customers with solar lease or power purchase agreement (PPA) options, both of which can prove incredibly cost-effective for customers who lack the funds necessary to pay for their system out of pocket, or would rather pay a low monthly fee without the burden of paying for the installation and maintenance of an owned system.

Limited Availability

Elemental Energy is only available in Oregon and Southern Washington. While the company has installed an incredible amount of kilowatts in those areas, it may find itself at a disadvantage compared with larger, more nationally known companies. Promoting verified Elemental Energy reviews from actual customers can help the company stand out from the competition.

The Bottom Line

Elemental Energy’s expertise and experience in the solar industry is clear. The company has installed tens of thousands of kilowatts of solar energy and is certified with the NABCEP. Customers are encouraged to obtain a free quote and inquire about the company’s workmanship warranty to help them better compare Elemental Energy to other companies in their area.
