The Good

  • Professional Associations
  • Pricing Transparency
  • Experience

Professional Associations

Aztec Solar is a member of the California Solar + Storage Association, and its president and CEO, Ed Murray, holds several leadership positions with organizations such as the California Solar + Storage Association, the Solar Energy Industries Association, and the Solar Ratings and Certification Corporation.

The Solar Energy Industries Association supports research, education, and advocacy for the solar industry. The Solar Rating and Certification Corporation develops standards for solar heating products and is the preeminent certifier for the industry in North America. These associations speak to Aztec Solar’s quality and professionalism.

Pricing Transparency

Many solar companies don’t even attempt to give price ranges for their products and services on their websites. But Aztec Solar lists specific pricing for its solar inspections and panel cleaning services, as well as solar water heating installation. This transparency makes it easier for customers to compare their solar options.

Experience

Aztec Solar has been in business for more than 40 years, making it one of the most experienced in the industry.

The Bad

  • Lack of Website Information
  • Missing Memberships

Lack of Website Information

The Aztec Solar website is missing some details that would be helpful to customers, including financing options, the company’s service area, and what specific products are available.

Missing Memberships

Although Aztec Solar’s president and CEO, Ed Murray, holds a number of leadership positions across multiple reputable solar industry associations, the company’s website lacks mention of Aztec Solar’s standing with organizations such as the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners.

The Bottom Line

The company has a great deal more experience than many other solar companies. Aztec Solar also lists on its website specific prices for some of its services, including solar inspections, solar panel cleaning, and solar water heating installation. While the company doesn’t list prices for all of its products and services, this is more transparency than many other solar companies offer on pricing.

Aztec Solar doesn’t mention any membership with the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners. We would expect a reputable solar company to be a member of the NABCEP.

The Aztec Solar website doesn’t mention some helpful details for potential customers, including the company’s service area, financing options, and specific available products.

But with more than four decades of experience, Aztec Solar is worth comparing against other solar options.
