Warranty Transparency

On its website, Aztec Renewable Energy clearly outlines the warranties it offers. It distinguishes between labor warranties, performance guarantee, and equipment warranties. This is important because many companies will claim their solar system has a 25-year warranty, when the equipment is only covered by a much smaller warranty. 

Aztec Renewable Energy is very transparent about each type of warranty:

• 10-year equipment warranty — This warranty covers any faulty parts of the system for the first ten years after installation. 
• 25-year panel performance guarantee — When a solar company initially quotes a system, they will estimate how much energy can be saved by installing the system. If the installed system stops performing at this expectation within the first 25 years of installation, Aztec Renewable Energy will repair the system so that it guarantees the same level of performance as it did at initial installation. 
• 5-year labor warranty — If any part of the solar installation wasn’t done properly, this is covered by the labor warranty for up to five years after installation.

Loan Financing

While Aztec Renewable Energy only provides financing in the form of loans, the company’s website also provides a rationale for why it does not offer leasing options. With Aztec Renewable Energy loan financing, customers can get instant loan approval. 

These loans have varying terms, depending on the desires of the customer. At most, the company can provide $0 down financing with a loan up to $65,000 on a 20-year term. However, this is not the only option. Aztec Renewable Energy can issue loans at much shorter terms as well.

NABCEP Certified

Aztec Renewable Energy is certified by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP), which sets it apart from other solar installers. All solar contractors should have electrical contracting licenses. However, the most reputable companies have the added certification from the NABCEP. To be considered NABCEP certified, a company needs at least one staff member with this certification.

It helps its members stay up to date on industry trends and technological advancements so that they can provide the very best service to customers. It is unclear where Aztec Renewable Energy gets its solar equipment — whether it gets panels and inverters from an outside manufacturer, or the company manufacturers its own products. This information makes it a bit easier for customers to understand the quality of panels they are getting. 

However, the company does have a statement on its website that it does not purchase from low quality panel distributors that sell to unlicensed installers. Names or brands of these manufacturers are not stated. 

Limited Service Area

Aztec Renewable Energy primarily installs solar panels in Texas, but has also done a lot of work in Oklahoma. However, the company’s reach does not go beyond these two states. Customers located outside of Texas or Oklahoma will need to choose a different solar provider. 

Few Customer Reviews

While the company has been in business since 2006, Aztec Renewable Energy does not have many online customer reviews. The reviews that exist are generally quite positive, but there are very few of them. This would be more typical of a company that has only been around for a short time. But for a company that supposedly has a very strong reputation, we would expect to see more customer reviews.
