Rid-A-Pest has served the communities of eastern and coastal North Carolina since 1972. Clyde Leslie “Les” Smith founded the company shortly after he became one of the first graduates of the North Carolina State University Urban and Pest Control program. Les was raised by a world-renowned entomologist and always knew he wanted to work in a field that involved insect management. Today, Les’s sons Jamie and Lee run Rid-A-Pest and continue to honor their family’s legacy.
Rid-A-Pest services North Carolina communities, including the following cities: Goldboro, Greenville, Jacksonville, Morehead City, New Bern, Rocky Mount, Wilson, and Raleigh. Rid-A-Pest technicians are well-trained in the insects and pests that plague the residents of North Carolina.

Rid-A-Pest offers three main service packages to its customers. The goal of these packages is to address the needs of a homeowner or commercial property at an affordable rate. The following MyShield service packages break down as follows:
MyShield: $70 per quarter (every 3 months)
The MyShield package targets and eliminates the following pests:
- Ants
- Spiders
- Smokey brown cockroaches
- Millipedes
- Pantry pests
- Mice and rats (through baiting)
- Indoor fleas
MyShield Plus: $86 per quarter (every 3 months)
The MyShield Plus package targets and eliminates the following pests:
- Ants
- Spiders
- Smokey brown cockroaches
- Millipedes
- Pantry pests (including Indian meal moths and grain beetles)
- Fleas (both indoor and outdoor)
- Mice and rats (through baiting)
MyShield Premium: $65 per month
The MyShield Premium is the most complete pest control service and comes with the following services:

Currently, Rid-A-Pest only offers services in North Carolina — specifically the eastern and coastal cities of the state. As a result, the Rid-A-Pest service will not be available to those outside of this region. There are nationally serviced pest control options available.
No Lawn Service Offered
Many pest control companies have noticed what insects and other forms of wildlife can do to the overall health of a homeowner’s lawn. Additionally, the pests that linger in laws can lead to problems close to the home or commercial property itself.
As a result, many pest control companies have started to offer pest control services that target the lingering issues found in grass. That being said, Rid-A-Pest does not offer any sort of lawn pest control services at this time.
