Although the mandatory one-year contract is not extremely unreasonable, their bi-monthly rate may not be the best option for someone needing more flexibility. It can result in early cancellation fees for someone already on a tight budget. It would be better if they, similar to a short list of their national competitors, offer a one-time treatment option "as-needed" or a month to month service plan.

Regarding payments, Preventive Pest Control does not make pricing options available to potential customers. For example, although there is a contract, Preventive does not disclose the details of their contracts. Customers have to contact the company directly to learn any contract details.

I hired Preventive Pest Control shortly after purchasing my home because I wanted to get ahead of pest issues right away. I originally scheduled what I believed was a one-time service while dealing with all the stress that comes with moving into a new house. After the service was performed, I was presented with a contract for ongoing treatments. Since then, I have received multiple visits, including two regular paid services and two additional re-services because I continued to see pest activity. Unfortunately, despite all of those visits, I am still seeing spiders, bugs, and roaches throughout my home. We have found pests both upstairs and downstairs, and most recently found a roach in our bedroom. The lack of results has been extremely disappointing. My wife has become very uncomfortable in our own home because of the continued pest activity, and finding pests in the bedroom has only made that worse. I was also disappointed with the quality of service during some of the visits. On multiple occasions, I felt technicians were rushing through the job, and I had to point out areas of concern that appeared to be missed. During one visit, the technician completed the service and left without speaking with me before departing. I never had the opportunity to confirm whether the specific problem areas I had mentioned were treated. What frustrates me most is that despite receiving little to no improvement after multiple service attempts, the company is still attempting to charge me an early termination fee when I no longer wish to continue with a service that has not worked for my home. I understand that pest control can take time and that every property is different. However, after multiple visits, continued pest activity throughout the house, and an unsatisfactory customer experience, I cannot recommend this company based on my experience.

Preventive uses a fairly effective extermination product that is natural, environmentally friendly and safe around pets. My experience with Preventive's service scheduling was less than satisfactory. Either they were unwilling to work around my work schedule OR they would arrive out of the blue with no notice. Additionally the lawn care service was less effective and far more expensive than me buying weed and feed at the store and applying it myself. When I tried to cancel the service after repeatedly voicing my dismay, I was still required to pay out the rest of the contract for services I didn't receive.
