Midland Mortgage

I paid my mortgage on time, every month the entire time I had it. I went through a divorce and wanted to modify my mortgage for a lower rate. I was not behind, and when I called to discuss it, the representative told me that I needed to be behind on my payments in order to apply. I told the company that I did not want to ruin my credit and the person assured me that it would not impact my credit. I was advised to skip the next month's payment and then make the subsequent payment. I did as told. The process was a headache; credit was ruined after years of protecting it; and the worst part - my mortgage was reduced less than $100.
