A Home8care camera can be added on to any Home8care system to enable video verification. The Good

  • Two Service Plans
  • Competitive Monthly Pricing
  • Large Protection Group
  • RF433 Range Extender

Two Service Plans

There are two service plans that consumers can choose from: the free basic service and the premium service. With the free basic service plan, there are no hidden fees. The free service plan that Home8Care offers includes:

  • Healthcare sensors
  • Other Home8 Sensors
  • Instant push notifications to smartphones
  • Integrated video monitoring (2 camera access included)
  • 1 owner access, 1 authorized user access

The premium service boasts the following features:

  • Healthcare sensors
  • Other Home8 Sensors
  • Instant push notifications to smartphones
  • Integrated video monitoring (2 camera access included)
  • Event recording and reporting
  • Video sharing and reporting
  • 1 owner access, 2 authorized user access
  • Unlimited number of emergency contacts
  • Additional authorized user for $4.99/month/user
  • Additional camera for $4.99/month/camera

Competitive Monthly Pricing

Although Home8Care has higher equipment fees, the company does not have monthly fees, which is rare for a medical alert company.

Large Protection Group

Under Home8Care's premium plan, consumers are able to have a constant 4-tier protection group that can be contacted immediately through Home8Care's system. This protection group consists of the owners themselves who have full management and access to the system/contact options, authorized users (typically family members), all emergency contacts, and local first responders like the police or fire departments.

RF433 Range Extender

Home8care features the RF433 Range Extender, which essentially doubles the wireless range of their devices such as the panic button. The device is available through the company's online store. A longer range ensures more protection in the case of an emergency.

The Bad

  • Pre-qualification Requirements
  • Product Fee

Pre-qualification Requirements

Before consumers purchase a Home8Care system, they are required to have a cable or DSL internet provider, a Wi-Fi router with a LAN port available for physical connection, a smartphone, and outlets for plug in. Without these requirements met, those who are interested in Home8Care cannot install the system.

Product Fee

The medical alert system equipment package that Home8Care offers costs between $69.99 and $119.99. This package includes one dongle, one security hub, and one panic button device. Although it comes with a one-year warranty, a 30-day free service, a 30-day money-back guarantee, and free shipping, it may be a steep price for those interested in medical alert systems.

The various system add-ons that Home8Care offers also have fairly high costs. For example, one mini talking camera available for purchase costs $99.99 as one of the lower priced alarm items.

The Bottom Line

Overall, Home8Care has a quality emergency button and technology with advanced mobile features, a free basic service option, a premium service plan for no monthly fee, and an opportunity for an at-ready large protection group with the premium plan; however, they do have high medical alert product prices and potential consumers must meet certain item requirements before purchasing a Home8Care system. Indoor systems include a built-in GPS and fall detection device. Read Home8Care reviews below if you want to see what consumers have to say about the alarm service.

I really love Home8care's medication dispenser system. It helps to remind my mother to take medicine. I will get push notifications if my mom forgets to take her medicine. So I can call her and remind her to take the pill. I highly recommend home8care to caregivers and elderly people.

Home8care has helped me saved so much money as an at-home care solution. Other solutions out on the market will cost me an arm and a leg per month. I personally use the Medical Alert System for my dad and it's very affordable. Depending on where you're living, nursing homes can cost $5,000 or more a month!

I'm a part-time caregiver and using Home8care really, really helped with my job. One of my elderly patients tends to forget to take his meds so using the Medication Adherence System was a godsend. I can pre-schedule doses and if a dose is missed, I'll get a notification on my smartphone. It's really simple to use.

Pretty good system, intuitive app interface, and doesn't lock me in any contracts. It made my life easier when caring for my grandpa.
