CARETEQ is a software company based out of Melbourne, Australia that built the SOFIHUB assistive living technology and cloud software brand. The company has been around since 2016 and continues to grow rapidly with its innovative technology.
SOFIHUB technology includes three assisted living products: Home, Secure, and eazense. Home is the core product that connects to Secure, the safety pendant worn to provide easy access to help at all times. These products work in tandem with eazense, a radar technology programmed to detect specific movements.
The company does not sell directly to consumers, but you can purchase its products through a variety of distributors. Currently, the company has partnerships in Australia with plans to expand its U.S. availability.
Keep reading our CARERTEQ review to learn more about the pros and cons of choosing SOFIHUB technology for your medical alerts system.
The TEQ-Secure takes traditional medical pendants to the next level. This device comes with an SOS button and fall detection that sends an SMS to your family and carer when activated. When the loved one responds, the individual with Secure can have a two-way voice call to request help. The fall detection feature has adjustable sensitivity to regulate false alarms.
You don’t have to worry about accidental water damage because the device can be worn in the shower and still functions after being dropped up to a meter deep in water. Another great feature is the charging reminders. The charging cradle comes with word reminders to help the customer remember to charge between wears.
The Geo-fencing and location history feature work together to make sure you or your loved ones stay away from danger. Family members will be notified if their loved one ventures outside of the designated Geo-fenced location.
TEQ-Secure doesn’t just have to be used for emergencies. The device works the same as a mobile phone by enabling you to call family and friends.
The monthly monitoring fee is just $20 per month. This is one of the more affordable monthly monitoring subscriptions in the medical alert industry. In comparison, some companies charge as much as $50 per month for monitoring. The payment covers the cost of the network service delivered to your devices. This means your equipment will work even if you don’t have internet in your home.
CARETEQ offers a one-year manufacturer's warranty on the SOFIHUB equipment and sensors. If there are any product defects noticed during setup, the company will send replacements.
You don’t need to worry about hiring a professional to set up your equipment. The SOFIHUB home system is easy to install with a computer or laptop. The basic steps include turning on the TEQ-Home, setting up your SOFIHUB portal login, activating your SIM card, subscribing to the monthly monitoring feed, activating and testing the sensors, and adding carers to your online portal.
During setup, you’ll create a SOFIHUB portal login to review data and make account changes. The SOFIHUB portal can be used to track the statuses of your devices, messages, and occupancies (where a sensor is triggered). You will also be able to set up reminders or schedules based on time or occupancy. Schedules make it easier for the device to know when you or your loved one is unaccounted for or in trouble.
The main hub will send out a message if it does not pick up movement in an area where you or your loved is scheduled to be. If the alert is not deactivated, a message will be sent to carers and family members to check on the individuals. Carers and family members can be given access to your account using unique login credentials to help set up these reminders, review insights, and send messages.
Primary users can also use the text to voice messaging feature on the Home system to contact a family member. This makes it easy for an individual to contact family members when they need help or just keep up regular contact.
If you would like to purchase the CARETEQ equipment, you will need to find a local distributor. This may make it more difficult to purchase vs. buying directly from the manufacturer.
The retail price for the SOFIHUB Monitoring System with the hub and eight motion sensors retails at $1,149. Medical alert companies often don’t make you pay for the equipment; they usually only charge for a monthly monitoring fee and loan you the equipment until you end your monthly subscription. Depending on the distributor, you may be able to find a discount or select a payment plan for the SOFIHUB.
A more affordable option may be to purchase the TEQ-Secure pendant. The TEQ-Secure pendant is priced at $349 MSRP. The pendant is similar to other mobile medical alert systems that offer GPS tracking, fall detection, and two-way voice calls.
Many medical alert companies use a professional monitoring center that can check in with the customer and call emergency services if needed. SOFIHUB does not connect with a professional monitoring center.
The SOS button on the TEQ-Secure calls up to 10 emergency contacts, but does not alert local authorities. This means the system is reliant on family and friends to be available and near their devices in the case of an emergency.
Monitoring centers can also be helpful if you have a false alarm. The center will often contact the customer before alerting emergency services and your contacts. With the SOFIHUB, family members and friends may be contacted more often than is necessary creating some false alarms. This could be a minor consideration if the customer has understanding and involved family members and friends.
CARETEQ offers high quality assistive technology through its SOFIHUB that gives seniors and individuals with disabilities the independence and peace of mind that comes with 24/7 connectivity. The TEQ-Secure is a top-of-the-line medical pendant that offers fall detection, SOS monitoring, GPS tracking, and two-way communication all for $20 per month in monitoring fees. The waterproof, portable, rechargeable design makes it an easy companion for everyday activities.
If you or your loved one are looking to purchase the SOFIHUb or the TEQ-Secure pendant, research distributors in your area. Individuals located in the United States will continue to see more purchasing options available in the coming months.
The high price of the system will require considering your financial situation and what you are willing to pay. For those who want to own the equipment, this may be a good fit. Another medical alert option may be best if you want to return the equipment after you’re finished using it.
We're on a mission to empower consumers to make the best decisions and connect confidently with companies that deserve their business.
