The Good

  • Limited Warranty
  • Energy Efficiency
  • Cost Transparency

Comprehensive Range of HVAC Products

Trane offers a diverse selection of HVAC products, including central air conditioners, furnaces, heat pumps, geothermal systems, and ductless mini-split units. This variety allows customers to choose the best fit for their home or business needs. Advanced features like smart thermostats and the Nexia Home Intelligence system provide enhanced control over heating and cooling, ensuring optimal energy efficiency.

High Performance and Energy Efficiency

Trane's HVAC systems are designed for long-lasting reliability and superior performance. Models like the Trane XV18 (18 SEER) and Trane XL18i (18.5 SEER) offer high energy efficiency, which can help lower utility bills over time. For those considering environmentally friendly options, Trane's geothermal systems and heat pumps are notable for their efficiency.

Flexible Warranty Options

Trane provides a comprehensive limited warranty ranging from 1 to 20 years, depending on the unit and registration within 60 days of installation. This warranty is transferable to a new homeowner, adding potential resale value to your property. The ability to transfer the warranty is a significant benefit for homeowners planning to sell their homes in the future.

Expert Installation and Certified Technicians

Trane's certified technicians, known as Trane Comfort Specialists, undergo rigorous training to ensure they meet the company’s high standards for installation and customer service. Proper installation by certified professionals helps maximize the lifespan and efficiency of Trane HVAC systems, making them a reliable choice for long-term use.

Transparent Cost Information for Trane Air Conditioners and Furnaces

Trane provides clear pricing information for its range of air conditioner and furnace models. For example, Trane air conditioner prices range from $3,267 to $10,000, depending on the model and SEER rating:

  • Trane XR14: $4,800 - $6,800 (14 to 16 SEER)
  • Trane XL16i: $6,000 - $8,400 (16.5 SEER)
  • Trane XR16: $6,000 - $8,000 (16 SEER)
  • Trane XR17: $6,000 - $8,400 (17 SEER)
  • Trane XV18: $6,300 - $8,750 (18 SEER)
  • Trane XL18i: $7,200 - $10,000 (18.5 SEER)

Trane furnace prices and heat pumps also range based on the model, size, and efficiency, with heat pump installation costs varying from $4,600 to $12,000. This transparency helps homeowners make informed decisions about their HVAC investment.

The Bad

  • Undisclosed Fees
  • Pricing Guide

Higher Initial Cost

Trane's HVAC systems are considered premium products, which generally come with higher upfront costs compared to some competitors. The Trane AC unit cost can be on the higher end, especially for models with advanced features or higher SEER ratings. While the long-term benefits of energy efficiency and durability may offset these costs, the initial investment could be a barrier for budget-conscious consumers.

Additional Cost for Full Warranty Coverage

While Trane offers a basic limited warranty, obtaining the full benefits requires customers to register their product within 60 days of installation. The warranty does not cover labor costs unless an extended warranty is purchased, which adds to the overall expense. Some homeowners may find these additional steps and costs to be inconvenient or restrictive.

Dependence on Certified Technicians

To maintain the warranty and ensure the system's optimal performance, Trane products must be installed and serviced by certified technicians. While this can guarantee quality, it might limit the homeowner's choice of service providers and could potentially lead to higher service costs compared to non-certified alternatives.

The Bottom Line

While Trane HVAC systems come with a higher initial investment, they offer excellent value through their reliable performance, energy efficiency, and strong warranty options. Understanding the Trane air conditioner prices, Trane furnace prices, and Trane AC unit cost can help you make an informed decision when considering a new HVAC system. For accurate pricing and to find the right model for your needs, consulting with a certified Trane dealer is recommended.

I had Trane air conditioning equipment at my old job and was in charge of working with local technicians to maintain and occasionally repair the equipment. Generally speaking, the equipment was very reliable and effective. Our unit was on the roof of our building and the technicians regularly came to service it. On the rare occasion that it wasn't working properly, repairs and parts were always very easy to come by. Overall quality equipment and I am looking into purchasing more from this brand for my home.

A few years earlier the unexpected happened during the beginning of the month of June (in Houston) and my a/c failed. Immediately, with an obviously since of urgency I contacted a few recommended a/c service technicians. Frustration began to set in when the a/c service technicians began to differ with the cause of my a/c unit, the repair dialysis and of course the estimated cost and inconveniences of project. After 2 weeks of confusion and conflicting information, I decided to go with a recommendation to contact Trane. My initial contact started me in the direction of the most "stress free" process I could have imagined. My "Trane" a/c professional assured that my entire experience would be favorable by her knowledge, experience, and professionalism. With the confidence in Trane's a/c experience and expertise, I was able to get my a/c service with quality repairs and budget friendly options. Needless-to-say, of course there was some additional cost, but the added security of having parts and repairs with a fantastic warranty was more than the added cost. My home a/c has never felt this amazing!

I have lived in 4 houses throughout my adult life. In that time, I can say the one time we had a Trane heat pump, it worked great! It was quiet and always kept the temp in the house to what we set it. No outside temp would be too high. The only fault I ever found was it did not last very long. It only lasted a yr passed its warranty.

We have a Trane AC that came with the house we just bought, and they have been a great help! They transferred the warranty into our name easily, and when a part broke, it wasn't a problem to get it covered by the warranty.

I have a Trane furnace and used to have a Trane Condensing unit for our AC. Unfortunately the Trane AC died after 12 years but I absolutely loved my Trane unit. I tried to replace it with another TRANE but it was too difficult to get one due to Covid-19 restrictions and the inability to get one for my home.

Our previous air conditioner was a Trane and it worked very well. It was able to keep our 4200 sq foot home cool and comfortable. We never had any problems with it and it lasted almost 15 years before the motor finally gave out.

The advertising is true! “It’s hard to stop a Trane!” It is just an overall great company with great product! The only thing negative I would say is they tend to be pricier up front than most, but you get what you pay for and in the end you will save money for fewer repairs!

I use Trane HVAC units in rental properties and they hold up very well. No major repairs have been needed on any units for about 20 years of use.
